@PatoSáinz There are no good guys there. Not Oracle and not the state.

Azure is the new hotness. It seems like there are new features being lit up each week in the platform and it's gaining quite a bit of momentum. One thing that many organizations are starting to consider is extending their on-premises Active Directory Domain Services infrastructure out to Azure IaaS. Note that this is not the same as Azure Active Directory, which is an authentication solution fo

@MDMarra No double dipping!

hm. Installing centos 7 from a USB drive to a USB drive sucks :/
Clearing up a drive for a proper install, but I wasted a few hours on it

@JourneymanGeek Installing anything to a USB drive sucks.

@MichaelHampton Made a typo in the original
And it was in the title, which means it was in the URL, which would bug the crap out of me

@MDMarra Heh, it's fine

2:18 AM
In that case...triple dip, here I come!

Don't press your luck :)
I just want to know who keeps removing BOFH from the feed list

@MichaelHampton: eh. The previous install ran ok. Centos 7 is a little... wierd for a livedvd

@MichaelHampton I cry every time I have to touch the feed list

@JourneymanGeek Live DVD? Won't touch it.

I'd run fedora, but I don't actually want to do this again until the hardware fails
@MichaelHampton: how else does one install it to a singleton system? o0

2:20 AM
@JourneymanGeek With actual installation media?
And what's wrong with using Fedora?

@MichaelHampton: ^^^
Longer support period primarily
I don't want to rebuild the system anytime soon

@JourneymanGeek Who said you had to rebuild it? Just update the system every so often and you're fine

@MichaelHampton: 0_0
It does in place updates?

@JourneymanGeek Yes

bleh in that case I'll just throw together a livedvd with persistance.

Upgrading F20-F21 will be, open a terminal, run fedup --network 21, wait for it to download everything, and then reboot.
But don't try that on a USB stick. You probably won't have enough space.

yeah
meh, I've moved stuff off one of the drives to use it to boot already

good morning guys

Oh, it's a good night here. I finally cleared the last issue out of Zabbix, and now the board is all green.
Guess that means I'm writing Puppet modules tomorrow.

have fun @MichaelHampton, and good night

5:12 AM
@MichaelHampton please, fix the formatting before migrating over a question :(

5:34 AM
@Braiam isn't that the purpose of <3k rep users?

@Magellan no when you are in the receiving end and check what was migrated over

@Braiam Dude. Try getting the firehose from StackOverflow for a few months.

@Magellan I eat SO mods for dinner ;)
sometimes with users as desserts

@Braiam I'm sure they actually mostly ignore us.

@Magellan only if you don't know them
or more accurately, they don't know you

5:37 AM
@Braiam yeah, they mostly don't care even if they know you.

I love spam
gimme more

@Magellan how timely

ugh.
Apparently my plain to replace ubuntu failed. The same bug I had manifests worse on centos 7 and fedora.
(so at this point, its probably the darned hardware)
quack.

9:01 AM
@JourneymanGeek FreeBSD?

Not that desperate
Pulled the realtek pci gig-e card I added
the fedora installer actually responds now, and everything is a lot faster.
I have no idea how those things are related yet
(and the connection to my part of the home network is capped at fast ethernet speeds at best so meh. I'll just keep the damned thing for emergencies)

Hello Madmarra,

I came across your post in pulling inactive users report from active directory. I am new to AD.

I have a question. Where do I install active directory powershell module on my computer or Domain controller how ????

I need to pull report of users & computers who have not logged in for the last 30 days, include names, last login date including the account is disabled.

Which Powershell script I should run and where??

I will really appreciate your response.

thanks,

Shevali

This is proof that no good deed goes unpunished.

MD "Mad" Marra :)

@MDMarra I've had similar - at that level of ignorance they go unanswered

@MDMarra => mark as spam
hm. I wonder if that would do more harm than good
on one hand, it might get this guy's account blacklisted (petty revenge!). on the other, it might mis-train filters

2:25 PM
:)
@JourneymanGeek go 10 gbit, it's the future!
:)

@MichelZ: I'd avoid realtek gear if I can

definitely

though I'm curious if the same thing will happen with another PCI nic
(its an older model atom, its kinda quirky)

while I do have a realtek sound chip and two realtek GBit adapters on board
and they work quite OK

2:50 PM
this is bloody wierd
I have one 'core' go nuts until I disable a gpe

:)
interrupts?

Well, now that I know what's causing it, I can probably decide at some point if its worth bothering with ;p

Why do people not read the information on the screen in front of them serverfault.com/questions/623547/… ?

@Iain If they did, we wouldn't get paid as much for being able to do what we do

@JennyD it's a derp, but I'm not sure that makes it off-topic
or is OT just the bin all bad questions get put in?

@TomW If we'd done that more at the beginning we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today

@TomW It fails "minimal understanding" and "useful to professional sysadmins". That makes it off-topic. I might have refrained from the snarky comment, but where's the fun in that?

Yes, good point

4:46 PM
@Magellan Still not as good as the porcupines.

5:12 PM
What's this about porcupines?

@MichaelHampton lube.

Eh, if you want to play with greased hedgehogs, be my guest.

5:45 PM
Nah, I'll just start a cat lube-wrestling league.
You know, for sickos...
