They're not wrong. The compulsion to modify our environment is a definitive human quality.

But I suspect this is going to get into another of those "what is a designer" things where everyone talks at cross purposes.

For a long time I have had and still have a problem with defining what design is.

I suspect that like Art, Literature, and genres, the term is used more to draw lines between groups of people than to define concepts.

So the term changes depending on the groups that need to be kept apart or drawn together by whoever is using it.

Yeah I barely identify as a designer anymore, dunno what I'd call myself. Graphic artist sounds more appealing but even mentioning artist conjures up images of baggy cords and tie dyed tshirts and doesn't lend itself to being taken seriously...Not that designers are paid for work fairly either

My business card just says, "design - instruction - editing - layout"

There's no good phrase or title for my skill set, which is more a circle of skills around effective and pleasing communication.

yeah communication is the only thing that seems to stick where graphic designers are concerned

lately im toying with the idea of maybe going down the storyboard artist path...or anything that gives me an excuse to draw...for decentish money xD

@BESW I can see why--it suffers from the basic wiki problem, though: the design is deity-awful.

nah I was in there working on that question and both the two comments of F U were deleted by you. I didnt see the flag thrown all I saw was where you were talking to him and then deleted the comment

Oh right yeh, I think its 6 rude/abusive flags auto-deletes and attributes the delete to either the first or last person to flag (can't remember which)

I can't delete comments, only mods can do that :)

noobie question about opacity and brushes xD I understand the difference between flow and opacity however if you make two strokes of 50% opacity with a brush, how come they do not overlap to 100%?

@user35276 i tried to do that a non codey sort of way a while back. one issue i had was that i could only batch save the pins currently loaded on the page (i.e. i had to scroll to the bottom of the board before batch saving them)

I've never used Pinterest but that's where I'd start
