Sennheiser vs Sony - which to buy

headphones?

yeah

narrowed down my choices to Sennheiser PXC 480, Sennheiser MM 450-X, or Sony 1000X

pretty sure the MM 450-X is the upgraded version of the only good pair of headphones I ever owned. Had an old pair of Sennheisers very similar back in college days

I've had a set of ATH-M50x on my wishlist for a while, but I doubt I'll ever buy them

those are wired, though

My go-to reviewer for this kind of stuff is MKBHD, he really puts out quality reviews

all 3 of the ones I'm looking at are wired as well. The Sony 1000X can work wired or wireless

but I'm looking at ones with good active noise cancellation. I don't mind the reduction in sound quality if it means not hearing the screaming kid behind me on the plane

and why wouldnt you get those ATH ever?

more money than I'm willing to spend on headphones, I usually beat mine up

yeah I'd rather not spend quite so much but I tend to take care of my stuff pretty well so it should last. I don't wear headphones outside or anything like that. My old sennheiser's I should still have but I was dumb at the time. The ear padding started to flake and I should've just replaced them.

Ah, my use case is the opposite. I'd only wear them outside / on the train, getting stuffed in an out of my backpack I'm sure would not be good for them

ah yeah I'd stay cheap for that. Like whatever I get will not be for gym use. I'll keep with $20 headphones when I'm going to sweat and abuse them

my latest pair of wireless earbuds have magnets in them so you can keep them around your neck, I'm hoping that will allow them to last longer

@Ryan It has been good. We are slowing down a bit. No one wants to do shows around the Holidays. We hired another designer who is inexperienced so I am struggling with trying not to take over projects and having her finish projects on her own.

She is also much older than me, so I was a little worried that she wouldn't take directions from me.

She went back to school to learn graphic design as she was in a completely different field so she is very new to Graphic Design. It can be a struggle where I know I can finish a project in 10 minutes or so and it may take her an hour.

I am just basing that thought on a recent project where we needed to reformat a design to fit a different size and we only had a PDF. I needed to work on another (rushed) project, so I had her work on that. Well I ended up finishing mine and then just finished the project she was working on.

my "assistant" who is the boss' wife / co-owner doesn't even show up most of the time but I still have to give her busy work to do, that she doesn't listen to me on and then I get to redo it anyways

a brewer Hourglass is fairly new but they're my favorite local. They just started bottling for retailers so itll probably be a while before they make it all the way to Chicago

have you ever gotten Surly Darkness? Its only sold in Minneapolis and Chicago. Every year I try to find someone to buy me a bottle and ever year it doesn't happen

I have not had Surly Darkness. I have been to their brewer but I don't remember it being there. Is that a limited timed release?
