2:00 PM
not 1000, including <CRF> like email then? :o

though it does respect the size read, it doesn't read out of buffer.
so it probably queries the file size, and allocates a zeroed-out buffer for the whole file. Then tries to read it.
I made the mistake of creating a folder on a filesystem that always says that a file exists, whatever the name.
"New folder (7892)" is still not available.

2:16 PM
@satibel How?
ln -s /dev/null /file
:D

(~_~)

Why are CPU Photos so beautiful anyway?

@XKCD I laughed

lol
its the mouseover that makes it

2:25 PM
@Burgi Indeed
It's almost like Munroe actually heard my complaints

the comic on its own isn't very good
but the mouseover is the better punchline

yup

its interesting that most of the people standing in the sharepoint election are indian

lol
(notes at least 2 of our mods are at least ethnic indian ;p)

it was more a comment on the technology

2:33 PM
ah
I've heard a lot of hatred for sharepoint on SF's offsite chat

when i did my SP course 90% of the people there were ethnically indian/pakistani
@JourneymanGeek the M$ documentation for it is incomprehensible

Documentation often is ;p

and the barrier to entry is super high

Are we talking about 'running' sharepoint, as apposed to being an author on sharepoint?
@Bob too*

@djsmiley2k experiments with "FUSE" (actually Dokan)
windows is actually fine with N:\\\\\

Q: Can i rebuild a JBOD?

Timo Schäferi have some old hardware that failed years ago and I still got 2 HDD in there, both where configured as a JBOD. Is there a way to dump theses drives on one HDD and remove/rebuild the JBOD with the actual hardware no more available ?

can't he litterally just copy the files off?!
obv you need to know which files xD

@djsmiley2k both?

@Burgi I used to do some funky stuff with sharepoint in a old job, as a author, no idea about actually hosting the thing tho

its a faff and a half

fun

sings badly
"brimful of asha on the... 45"

2:58 PM
everybody needs a bossom for a pillow...

3:12 PM

A: Situation where it is imperative to have Windows as part of dual boot?

karelPersonally I think of Windows as a second class alternative OS to Ubuntu and all Windows applications as second class alternatives to first class Ubuntu applications. Therefore the only value of Windows for me is to run applications that don't run at all in Ubuntu or run poorly, and all of the ap...

Man, my Drive was supposed to be delivered an hour ago
brb, monkey attack
3

Spank that monkey!

IN SOVIET RUSSIA, MONKEY SPANK YOU!

are monkey attacks a thing in india?

Only in some places.

@Burgi Uh huh

3:56 PM
even in cities?

They entered from a window, and ransacked the fridge

i remember a guy i used to work with told me in south africa they had monkeys that'd do stuff that like
he used to grab em, and chuck em outta the window into the swimmin pool
they didn't like that xD

@djsmiley2k You cannot just grab them

I think monkeys are considered vermin in some areas.

do you not have those screens over your windows?

3:59 PM
@Burgi Nah

Are you in Greater Delhi?

@JourneymanGeek huh?
@jokerdino *cough* This is the internet, I'm disclosing nothing, mate
I'm not even in Delhi
Or maybe I am
You shall never know

Lol

:P

@Rahul2001 the programmer @Burgi mentioned

4:01 PM
@JourneymanGeek I think that was @Burgi

@Rahul2001 lol
this guy was a pro water polo player
and a ex life guard
he also did tumbling in brazil
he was Fast

Flash?

No, he wasn't the flash :P

@JourneymanGeek I... think you should just shut this down before it gets overblown superuser.com/questions/1212463/…

hm, purged comments, closed question
Don't really see what else I can do short of nuking the question and I see no reason to

4:08 PM
@JourneymanGeek nuke the answer that adds nothing
tho that might make Karel post more crap :/

the question itself is closed
and I'm going to sleep ;p

@DavidPostill I know ur around somewhere superuser.com/questions/1212490/…

4:39 PM
@Burgi What a mess there is these days...
Aren't you afraid to come out?

nah, i've grown up with terrorism
its also not the first terrorist attack in manchester
its like me asking you if you are afraid to go outside with Palestinian rockets
world keeps turning
@Rahul2001 why don't you have screens?

Eh, monkeys aren't a big problem
Heh, teachers in my school sometimes make jokes about kids being homosexual, and honestly, it's just disgusting
And it's kinda shocking because my school has a pretty big pro LGBT+ campaign

5:02 PM
@Rahul2001 Kids must stop watching US mainstream controlled by illuminati. They want to degrade and destroy humanity and leave 500,000 of smartest people to themselves.

5:19 PM
@Rahul2001 that's nice
except the thing above that
We have a teacher who's like, making racist, sexist and homophobic/transphobic insults every single lesson
and weirdly, only I care.

@Avery It's pretty much the same here

@Rahul2001 that sucks

5:49 PM
@Avery indeed.
What sucks more is how they perceive sexist and racist topics to be unacceptable for conversation and/or humour but not ones related to homosexualitiy and being transgender.
They aren't exactly phobic, but more derogatory. Like a few days ago a teacher saw a guy with neat and well-kept nails and said "Are you gay? Are you sure that you're a boy?"
@Avery WOOHOO! Drives arrived!

nice!

6:05 PM
Does anyone here have experience with TrueCrypt?

Kinda, why?
Also use veracrypt if you want plausible deniability or LUKS/Bitlocker if you don't.

@Avery I'm thinking of installing it on this USB

6:17 PM
Okay shit. Shit shit shit..

But now that you've publicly stated your intentions, the plausible deniability is... harder to get to
use bitlocker/luks
@Rahul2001 what happned

I texted my best friend (previously girlfriend, were kinda unsure on that thing). Her mum read it. And I'm not allowed to talk to her anymore.

ouch :(

Okay, this sucks
That was not the kind of text you ever let your SO's mum read. Not sexual or anything, but still.

@Rahul2001 if you'd like to talk let me know, I prefer discord but have pmuch everything installed

6:23 PM
@Avery telegram works for you?
If not, I've been meaning to join discord for ages anyway

Yep, telegram is OK, but I'm not sure if I should post my number on a public chat.
Do you have signal?

yawn
I have no advice

done

sry
woo

6:36 PM
@Avery you don't need to post your number.

yeah I saw that we don't
(i'm @aveao for all your spamming needs)

OK pinging.

I'm kinda too

I ponged.

7:36 PM
Creating my first decent data backup!

@Avery so what is your friends name

keep guessing

Brantly

nope

Can I have a hint

7:41 PM
It only has letters of avertly, and starts with t.

Tyler

bingo

I think you should have named it Tylerav

I didn't name it

... so he chose that name

7:43 PM
yes
tylerav sounds like tylenol

lol
I have 104GB of data left, and a couple of hours
What should I do?

@Rahul2001 That's 10 times my monthly data allowance :/

@DavidPostill Yeah, I have access to my uncle's WiFi connection, and the plan expires in a couple of hours
He's a pretty heave internet user
Total data per month is 240GB for him

holy hell that's nice
I only get 12

I should probably set up a couple of seed boxes
Hm, is there a way to tell bittorent clients that you can seed more and therefore allow more connections?

7:54 PM
@Rahul2001 who do you have? Cellular networks I dont' believe go that high and my homeline isn't capped

@William Well, I can definitely seed from my home connection the next month, I'll be out of town. And I also have a 250 GB allowance
@William Airtel

8:53 PM
@DavidPostill how did your interviews go?
@JourneymanGeek @Rahul2001 i feel i missed a vital part of the conversation

@Burgi nothing important
5 hours ago, by Rahul2001
@JourneymanGeek huh?
9 hours ago, by Journeyman Geek
I think this person is brilliant

@Burgi Haven't heard. It seemed to go very well and the interviewer promised feedback either way (probably by last Friday). So I'm very pissed off they didn't keep their word.

@DavidPostill :(

He said I was the only person they've interviewed in 2 years to give the expected answer to 2 of the tech questions, which makes it even worse.

Send a follow-up email?

8:59 PM
@Rahul2001 No point.

Hack them. thumbs up

@DavidPostill Ask what went wrong nonetheless

If they wanted me they would have gotten in touch by now.

@DavidPostill Oh, want me to DDoS them? Or... attack them in other ways?
I'd be more then happy to.

@Rahul2001 No.

9:02 PM
(-_-)"

@Rahul2001 Retaliation over rejection? Cause that works so well...

@DavidPostill call them

They might have just lost your info; it's worth a shot

@Rahul2001 yeah the programmer was me

@MichaelFrank I was joking

9:25 PM
@BenN I don't think so. HR has my email and phone number. As does my CV.

@DavidPostill :(

9:59 PM
@DavidPostill i would call them

10:29 PM
When you finally figure out why your script is giving you the same results for every object... and you realise it's because your code is only checking the ACLs of the same root folder, over and over...
$access = (get-acl -Path $folder.Root)

Whoops

Yeeeeeeaap
That's what happens when you're more concerned with the output looking right instead of making sure it gives you correct results. :/
$access = (get-acl -Path $folder.FullName) - Fixed!

10:49 PM
Anyone know any good wifi analyzer utilities? My internet is rough and I live in a basement apartment. Using landlords connection and unsure of where it is, wanted to try and point my antennas to the strongest direction in the hopes of slightly improving it

Bob
morning

Hi!

11:26 PM
@SimonSheehan acrylic is not bad, on the PC

So I TKO'd my first Linux server.

That sounds like a productive day. ;)

@ATaco just press ctrl z duh

I spent the day re-installing my Webserver, because I didn't have any backups...

that's the importance of backups right there
