Q: How to recover folders from formatted drive

I had 500GB portable hard drive. it fell from the table and when i joined it was not showing any data and asked me to format it. i did format. Then again it was not functioning properly so i had to quick format it again. Now i had lots of data in it. Is there any software which can recover my fi...

@David How would that help? Unless I don't understand it, wouldn't that be lost as well? .... Or does Time Machine backup to different locations?

When I used it last (A few years ago) I thought it was like Microsoft VSS

@Wil I think he meant an actual physical time machine to go back and not drop it, or catch it as it fell off the table.

@Mokubai I don't think it is even a mod tool... only times I have seen it, they manually type it under their name and add the name of the person at the end :/

Thinking about it, it's actually quite useful to know OSX supports exFAT too, so it's quite useful as an answer in its own right.

@Mokubai hehe... It is a 25" 1080p one - the one I won from the competition, but I am still waiting for it to be collected and I am swapping - it ghosts like crazy... going to replace with another 1080p one... probably LED but not sure on size

I mean I read the blurb about it generating "work packets" as some form of currency, but what are they actually doing for that work? For all I know it could be some drug cartel trying to generate a super-effective narcotic...

In all honesty I have little inclination to actually find out what it is bitcoin is actually using the cycles for, for all I know it could simply be to generate heat and waste electricity. I just like to think that those evil people out there are doing something more interesting that trying to steal credit card information, and bitcoin would be an amusing sideline for them...

On which note, apparently Codemasters (the game dev) has been hacked and lost a load of personal data >.<

there's still work to be done in making migrations work better imo, but exactly what the work is I'm not sure :)

@DMA57361 There needs to be some kind filter that catches all the migrations, but I suspect the job is complex enough that it would have to be done in meat-ware
