:P
already on it now, took a little time to gen the key

heh, cool
Uber.. think we don't have it at my country yet.
Taxi drivers made an uproar. (and rightfully so in my opinion...)

alrighty that should work

@ArtOfCode SSH key added, labeled as smokey @ teward/Aurora so we all know that's my SSH key for the SmokeDetector account to use SSH

@ThomasWard roger

that should solve the git creds problem since it's SSH key based

should

whoops I broke it lol

i'll revert that shortly

@ArtOfCode since SSH automatically tests id_rsa as the public key for a git over SSH connection, I don't have to worry about entering the creds.
this is probably a more sane approach, but not the easiest to set up / distribute
('cause we can just revoke SSH keys if we want deadSmokey to happen)

@ArtOfCode how did we fix that again?

8:18 PM
happens occasionally
should fix itself

mmkay
I wish we could capture that error and just 'die' without a full reboot :p
but i guess a full reboot is better

whatcha mean by dying without a reboot

well, it hard-fails and forces a restart of the Python process that is launched by nocrash
hence a 'dying without a reboot' python hard-crash
but i'm less concerned if it's once in a blue moon
as long as commits work
time to test an unregged... grabs AquariusOne

It's a pretty early/low-level error, so catching it and trying the necessary bit again is difficult

I've gotta make a website for some coursework. Would someone be willing to have a look and tell me what they think of it/what could be done/etc?

sure
toss me code if you want code review, or if you want general complaints/critiques just a URL

looks pretty good so far, though I might suggest toning down the reds a little bit, or switch for a dark border background behind the central divs
because that red on the white is a little annoying in contrast
my two cents :)
oh and stop leaving placeholders everywhere :p

@ThomasWard how's the center content div? The gray-background one?
@ThomasWard well yeah :) I just need to actually have some content for them first

@ArtOfCode Looks OK to me. I think the contrast could use work
I can ask my artist friend to get her opinions since she knows colors/designs a little better

8:48 PM
OK. I'll have to have a look at the WebAIM contrast checker, too...

if it doesn't complain, it might just be my personal tastes you are observing heh
otherwise it looks pretty decent.

It does complain, but it says the contrast is too low, not too high :)

ah, well close enough :)

fortunately, I don't think our tutors are going to be checking WebAIM

@ArtOfCode I hadn't even read Thomas' comments, and the first thing that I saw was also the contrast.

welcome back, @Undo

Oy :)
Looks like nothing exploded too bad

nope
but i had to add an SSH key to Smokey on GitHub to fix the constant loss of github creds

@Undo I did reboot the server this morning because it was unbearably slow, but generally pretty good
@Undo Huh, I probably need to change that, then. What should I do with it? Make the red lighter? Darker?

well, your issue is with standard subpixel layouts.

10:34 PM
hm?
with... what?

My MacBook screen and my U2515 are the same, so I'll say it's probably standard:
Each pixel has three little 'subpixels', in this order (left-right): R G B
(red, green, blue)

RBG or RGB?

@ArtOfCode RGB

GB, yeah. Details :P

</nitpick> :)

10:36 PM
Anyway, you're asking it to light up the red one, which it dutifully does and it looks like in the center.
But at the edge, you have that leftmost subpixel butting up against a uniform (grey) pixel, where all the subpixels are lit

@Undo with SSH Key authentication being always-available with SSH connectivity when using git-over-ssh, it's a more reliable way of enforcing that the creds work. So I hope you don't mind me doing that to make sure it stops losing GH creds on Aurora

Meaning that the left edge of the red box actually seems brighter.
@ThomasWard Yeah, it's what I do.

@Undo I'm... not seeing it

@Undo cool, I've added a dedicated key then for smokey on Aurora, and it has been commented as such. This saves the HTTPS git mechanism from being broken or storing freds.

10:38 PM
@Undo Sure that's not just the box shadow you're seeing?
try turning that off in dev tools and see what happens

The box shadow emphasizes it, but it's still there even without it.
Much less so, though

Maybe I'm blind, but I can't see it getting brighter at the edge

You might experiment with dropping the shadow entirely and bringing the body background to something like a #636363

or maybe my screen is different

@ArtOfCode that could be it, yeah

10:41 PM
Edge of the box looks a little darker on an iPad screen
which also reminds me, should probably have some media queries so I can make it look not terrible on iPad and smaller screens

wouldn't hurt to antialias that database icon either

Yeah, that was just bad photoshopping :)

also, the icon in the top left corner is fuzzy because you're shoehorning a 64x icon into 48x
otherwise, though, it looks good

yeah, that's a fun one.

Yeah, we had that before. @Undo redirect_target doesn't know whether it's getting a read redirect or a write redirect, and it assumes write.

shouldn't it be possible to define what type of a redirect it is?

11:03 PM
we should probably have two different redirect targets

@Undo pretty sure that was a read-only authentication - as in, the type we use to just get the chat IDs

yeah

don't think we specify no expiry on those

shouldn't need to
