I played Star Trek Catan, Anomia, Geek Out (which was lame), and then more Anomia.

I've grown to like cities. Spent my latter HS years in very large cities

star trek catan looks like it fixes everything I hate about catan

or at least ameliorates it

If I ever bought catan it would be Trek Catan

You just have rotating special powers, which are so-so.

That's a fair point. Catan is a fairly low-agency game.

my biggest issue with catan is how completely and utterly dependent upon the dice rolls you are (which doesnt help when the included dice suck and fail to meet the projected statistics)

Yeah in every Catan game I've played the 6s and 8s have come up far less than they should.

my friends still play sometimes because they like to relax by turning their brains off a concept I do not understand

I gambled on a game of Catan where two 11s got put next to each other and became the king of ore.

You're probably a good trader. That's all there really is.

Part strategy, part knowing your fellow players behavior.

@timB your fellow players have no grasp of trade strategy or play it like its dominion and do their own thing with out trying to interfere too much though

I recall observing the Catan tournaments at Gencon '09 where several players were wearing dark sunglasses, like poker players do.

I have set myself up to be god-king of the universe in catan by my placement and then had like 2 whole rotations where I got no resources

The group I regularly played with turned into a game of BATTLE FOR THE LONG ROAD.

thats the worst thing about catan is that you cannot do anything based on die rolls

meanwhile everyone else is getting resources and building their economic base as well a getting VP

I have noticed that people seem to have an answer lean. In almost every question the answers have more up votes. I wonder why that is

Answers always seem to get more upvotes than questions

Even if the question is really good.

many questions are often rehashs of other questions or I didnt actually read the manual

I only upvote a question if Its something I think is very well written or if its something that I genuinely have concern about

thus I only upvote questions on tags I am familiar with.

yeah...I'm definitely of the mind that 4e style grids make sense if you're using a grid.

Just make 5'-10' equidistant and express everything in 5's. I will almost always be close enough

im saddened that prone got changed from 10ft to half in the phb

but part of that is that we're starting to get use to thinking digitally

10 feet was so much easier

theres no question about whether the half is your remaining move, your full move speed etc.

youre not extreme penalizing people with odd increments

good point. I believe it's half your total. And I'll stand by that

odd increments are already wierd with halved movement speeds on a grid

(btw the example in Prone I think makes it clear that it's half your total, so not having 15' of movement means you can't stand)

this makes me want Ray of Frost's movement reduction to be 10' more. make it an "And stay down!" type power.

I got a refurb on it, and the refurb still didn't work well.

(that said, I'm grumpy at LG too for my current phone and the fact that they haven't bothered to update the OS..)

which leaves me kind of limited on phone choices...

(specially because I don't think the Nexus is Verizon compatible yet)

My GM wants to level down the whole party from 9th to 4th level. I have spoken to the rest of the players in the group and they agree with me that it is not what we want. We are playing on Saturday and our GM has been avoiding me. Any suggestions?

but usually individual answers have a set of specific individual circumstances

@waxeagle I don't know if it's available from your phone co, but Sony Z1 & Z1 Compact are quite good. Android, huge camera resolution, Z1C is the most powerful mini/compact. Wife has the standard, I have the compact.
