1. MES/Line Control Enclosure: The enclosure must be reconstructed entirely since its original components were repurposed, leaving no hardware intact.
2. Food Processing Room Electrical Enclosure: A full rebuild is necessary as the original panel and all associated electrical controls were removed and reused.
3. Food Processing Room HMI Enclosure: Needs to be fully reassembled because the original unit was dismantled, and its components were reused elsewhere.
4. TW1 Electrical Enclosures:
o VFD & Heater Enclosure: Partial reconstruction is needed to replace missing components, including hea

It was mentioned I would need to create the internals for an industrial electrical panel that powers some food processing machines.

Which course should I take for my new job?

My company also mentioned quoting this all... which I think they want me to do.

"The enclosure requires a full rebuild "
Dec 13, 2024 14:02
Yes, cables the size of a child's arm
Dec 12, 2024 21:04
For example, there is a large industrial machine they need the electrical panel or controller for... and I'm supposed to make a parts list and build it all from scratch...
Dec 12, 2024 19:07
Just saying. I don't have any questions :)
Dec 12, 2024 19:06
So I just started a new job. (I was unemployed for about half a year. I was doing home improvement work on my rentals, still not finished. I was waiting for a good paying position.)

There is one other EE and he is semi-retired. The managers seem to expect I know about high voltage industrial applications. I said very clearly in the interviews I do not know anything about that. They are asking me questions really only an industrial electrician should know...

@W5VO Yes, that is what I was asking about

Ah, both ways

I have an MCU and a Bluetooth module. For the schematic labeling, do I use the TX/RX on the MCU or the Bluetooth module?

How much should I donate to download kicad?
Jun 13, 2023 20:05
ah, ok
Jun 13, 2023 19:49
I don't think this product should have batteries. But that's what I'm told it should be re-designed for today... even though we just ordered the PCBs today... not with any mind for a battery
Jun 13, 2023 19:47
(because that's how it was supposed to be in the first place)
Jun 13, 2023 19:46
I just figure it would be good for it to work off a 24 power supply
Jun 13, 2023 19:46
well, not really
Jun 13, 2023 19:45
...which isn't that one
Jun 13, 2023 19:45
Ideally input voltage 3.3-24V, at least 1A output current, through hole: digikey.com/en/products/detail/texas-instruments/…
Jun 13, 2023 19:33
Those still require Input Voltage, Min: 5.3 V
Jun 13, 2023 19:32
I just searched poorly

Jun 13, 2023 19:27
There are through hole LDOs?
Jun 13, 2023 19:21
Voltage - Input (Min) 6V

It's just the circuit is setup to supply to the 5V input of the ESP32
Jun 13, 2023 14:57
The dev board has an LDO
Jun 13, 2023 14:13
It's just I designed a circuit to be used from a 24 power supply. Now all of the sudden it needs to work off batteries
Jun 13, 2023 14:13
For an ESP32 development board that can be supplied with 5V, but only outputs 3v3... Can a 3.7V battery that goes to a DC-DC converter be used?
Jun 6, 2023 17:06
(without connectors)
Jun 6, 2023 17:06
Is there flat 5-wire ribbon cable of around 10 AWG?
Mar 31, 2023 01:24
@misk94555 How though? If I work as a test engineer for a year at 110k, I would think I can ask for a much higher salary at the next job.
Mar 30, 2023 15:43
What are y'alls thoughts on EE test engineers? I make 70k now doing mostly fun R&D. Linkedin recruiter mentioned $105k-110k for "senior test engineer." I heard it pigeonholes an ECE career. Thoughts?

Vacationed in LA. Housing prices crazy high compared to Wisconsin. I can see how other high earning EEs, not in the Midwest, aren't into real estate investing.

Say the annual return for a *used* widget producing machine is this:
`12*500/(5000+15000)` = 30%
It cost 5k for the loan to buy the machine and 15k to fix it to start.

Two years later, it is refinanced for a 30 year term. Is that initial 15k still in the denominator? What if it was refinanced two seconds later?

`12*600/(33000+15000)` = 15%

I am trying to determine the overall (average) return of an investment with a great return in the first two years, but a mediocre return for the rest of the new loan.
May 2, 2023 14:34
Any ideas how to fix it?
May 2, 2023 14:31
Negative 60% doesn't make sense to me...
May 2, 2023 14:31
However, I think the equation is missing an absolute value sign or something...

If another cost of living index is 250 (instead of 150)
salaryNew*(1-(250-90)/100)
= salaryNew*(-60%)
May 2, 2023 14:30
I'm trying to compare salaries. I made this equation:
salaryNew*(1-(150-90)/100)
= salaryNew*40%

My cost of living index is about 90
Another is about 150
The average of the US is 100

I don't get why I have to convert MIDI stuff anyway when the Sparkfun IC on the dev board is I2S in the first place.
