@LuisMasuelli I have not been able to find good shader tutorials, but if you want a node editor ShaderLab for Unity is supposed to be pretty good

I've always used the Quaternion.Euler approach without issues
Apr 21, 2016 22:17
Haven't heard of it
Apr 21, 2016 22:16
But localRotation = Quaternion.Euler(a, b, c) also works
Apr 21, 2016 22:15
Apr 21, 2016 22:14
You can do something like rotation.eulerAngles with the word local in there somewhere

This writeup of EVE's current "Northern War" is incredible: rockpapershotgun.com/2016/04/21/…

LD game finally released! lokkij.itch.io/bonsai-tower
Apr 18, 2016 02:12
Secretly we also rotate the world around the player but the player isn't supposed to notice :P
Apr 18, 2016 02:11
Ohh okay
Apr 18, 2016 01:55
Kinda looks like it might be similar though
Apr 18, 2016 01:54
I'm not sure, I haven't played Fez :)
Apr 18, 2016 01:53
Basically, a puzzle-platformer
Apr 18, 2016 01:53
You collect bonsai on this huge tower and you rotate parts of the tower to open up new routes and get to all of the bonsai.
Apr 18, 2016 01:50
(well, hopefully :P)
Apr 18, 2016 01:50
Thanks! I'll link the actual game here within 30 minutes.
Apr 18, 2016 01:26
(the red cube is the player)

Apr 18, 2016 01:24
I will!
Apr 18, 2016 01:23
@Pip Pretty well! We're preparing our submission now (builds, screenshots, etc.)
Apr 17, 2016 23:31
So our goal is to finish it today
Apr 17, 2016 23:30
Yeah, but tomorrow both of us have school and other real-life things
Apr 17, 2016 23:03
It's totally playable right now
Apr 17, 2016 23:03
Oh yeah I meant complete
Apr 17, 2016 23:00
Almost done with our Ludum Dare game! It just needs a victory screen and some more testing and then it's totally playable.
Apr 17, 2016 13:21
So we have a pretty decent Ludum Dare concept where you're on the outside of a tower and you can rotate parts of it to get to your goal, but it turns out it's really hard to design good levels for it >.<
Apr 16, 2016 09:39
Thanks!
Apr 16, 2016 09:36
(note: I haven't actually played Fez)
Apr 16, 2016 09:36
Currently going for a Fez-inspired platformer on a large tower where some levels of the towers rotate ("shapeshift" :P)
Apr 16, 2016 09:35
I'm trying it for the first time with a friend
Apr 16, 2016 09:31
Anyone doing Ludum Dare?

:P
Apr 2, 2016 12:18
Oops, fixed typo
Apr 2, 2016 12:17
The current approach allows the user to accidentally pass in an invalid identifier (like 'me' or a typo'd 'you') and allows bugs like this one to creep in
Apr 2, 2016 12:13
Still not completely safe in theory, but good enough in practice
Apr 2, 2016 12:13
Yeah that approach sounds good
Apr 2, 2016 11:37
Still, do we actually need custom specifiers?
Apr 2, 2016 11:36
Hmm. I don't think it's possible to associate values with enums in Groovy? Then it could be You | Opponent | Custom(String).
Apr 1, 2016 15:17
Is there a reason player indicators (like 'you' 'opponent') are strings instead of enums?
Apr 1, 2016 14:59
Ah yes, it's far less intimidating than I remember.
Apr 1, 2016 14:30
Right, I'll see if I can find an easy Groovy issue. I need to immerse myself in that massive system again.
Apr 1, 2016 14:13
So if I wanted to start working on something again, what would be the most helpful and/or easy? (keep in mind I'm completely rubbish at webdev, so I'd prefer something gameplay/mechanics-related)
Apr 1, 2016 13:59
I hope the new framework (react?) will work out better!
Apr 1, 2016 13:59
Aw, that's too bad, with all the work you put into it. :(
Apr 1, 2016 13:57
Ah, you're rewriting the HTML client? Angular not working out?
Apr 1, 2016 13:55
So what's going on here? Any huge changes/improvements? What are we working on?
Apr 1, 2016 13:54
Pretty good! I must admit I completely forgot about this project until I got an email about #402 a few hours ago.
Apr 1, 2016 13:52
How's everyone doing?
