@Pacerier No, but ufotable has announced that there will be one, at some unspecified time in the future.
Oct 29, 2024 14:25
I totally understand where you're coming from when you say you don't want to read the same story a third time - so let me just tell you that Heavens Feel diverges hugely from the other two routes, very early on. I'd suggest playing Heavens Feel to about day 4 or 5. If you're still bored, then sure, go ahead and drop it and watch Fate/Zero.
Oct 29, 2024 14:25
@Matthaeus Well, here's the thing - since you've already read the Fate route, you already know most of the big "spoilers" for Fate/Zero (how the fourth war ends, who the Saber and Archer of the fourth war were, etc.). There's almost nothing in Heavens Feel that spoils Fate/Zero that isn't also in Fate. So in your situation, I would strongly recommend doing HF before F/Z.

@Hakase Thanks for the ping a few days ago re: SF&F wanting our ID requests. I'll respond to the meta posts shortly, but in brief, I don't see any reason not to send them our id-requests if they really do want them.
Feb 22, 2017 03:02
Hey folks, I edited too many id-reqs at one go (for meta.anime.stackexchange.com/q/3994) just now, and now the site front page is down to 7 questions. Sorry! It should recover to its full size within a day or two in the normal course of questions being asked/edited/bumped. I posted a report on Meta.SE (meta.stackexchange.com/q/291375) - this seems like a bug.

@Gao Not a problem. I definitely do appreciate the improvements you've been making; just spreading them out over a longer period of time would probably be better.
Nov 14, 2016 16:20
@Gao Speaking in a non-moderatorial capacity - could you maybe slow down on the edits? You're kicking new content off the front page way too fast.

Q: Identify two amines

Physicist137I was reading a random text about about surface chemistry of YBaCuO superconductors. In the text, there were a table. Table had a list of several chemical compounds, including these two: Alkyl Amine: FcC(O)NH(CH2)4NH2 Aryl Amine: p-Fc-C6H4-NH2 So.. two amines. After extensive search, I was un...

@Tyhja Actually, that's not quite right. The logic is kind of complex; see meta.stackexchange.com/a/92006 if you're interested in the specifics.
Sep 13, 2016 04:25
@Hakase I suppose. I deleted it.
Sep 13, 2016 04:24
@Tyhja Then they live for 1 year before they get deleted, I believe.
Sep 13, 2016 04:22
@Tyhja Closed+downvoted posts get roomba'd after a week-ish anyway.

Random question - has @Sakamoto always been Sakamoto desu ga? Sakamoto? I feel like I remember him being Nichijou Sakamoto at some point, but I'm not sure if I'm making that up.

Q: Reddit-like "contest mode" sorting option for meta threads

senshinReddit has a feature wherein moderators can set threads to be sorted in "contest mode". As the name suggests, it was originally designed for use with "contests", where the userbase is tasked with ordering a number of competing options by voting on them. To avoid biasing voters based on factors ot...

@JNat There are other use cases, like [community-ads] posts. I posted about this on Meta once.
Aug 31, 2016 17:12
@Hakase That... actually didn't occur to me. A goofus am I. (I still think Taisho clutters the transcripts and makes us look like weirdos, but hey, this solves my particular problem. Thanks!)
Aug 14, 2016 07:19
You know how sometimes you start watching an anime expecting it to be one thing, and then it turns out to be an entirely different thing? I watched the first episode of orange today, and was terribly confused by the lack of lesbians. I figured, maybe they're all really far in the closet? But no, apparently I had just gotten orange confused with citrus....

@Hakase Depends who the audience is. If it's women, yeah, you get hyper-effeminate dudes being sensitive and shit. If the audience is gay men, though, you tend to get big burly (though not hairy) men - google "bara" if you're interested.
Aug 29, 2015 17:59
@MadaraUchiha One, it's simply an incorrect use of the tagging system. Two - and I emphasize that this is very much subsidiary to reason #1 - it makes it more difficult to get a statistical understanding of how identification requests of the form "I heard this song in an anime store, what is it" are occurring on the site.
Aug 29, 2015 17:57
If OP comes in and says "I heard this song in Bleach, what is it", it's a completely different type of question - namely, a [bleach] question that maybe you also want to tag with [music] or something.
Aug 29, 2015 17:56
@MadaraUchiha It depends on context, like I've been saying. If OP comes in and says "I heard this song in an anime store, what is it", then yes, that's [identification-request] [music].
Aug 29, 2015 17:56
@MadaraUchiha We already do this with the *-production and *-history tags.
Aug 28, 2015 20:22
If you want to invent some sort of "music-identification" tag for "what is this song in anime X" questions, whatever, that's fine. Might be useful, might not be. But this nonsense of conflating multiple distinct classes of things into a single "identification-request" tag has to stop.
Aug 28, 2015 20:20
@MadaraUchiha Any given tag should be about exactly one topic; no more, no less. As I explained in the meta post, "what is this song from anime X" is a completely different topic from "what is this anime".
Aug 28, 2015 20:18
@ToshinouKyouko There is no policy, and anyway, I already made a meta post.
Aug 28, 2015 18:13
That's cool.
Aug 28, 2015 18:13
@ton.yeung Oh, you ninja-edited
Aug 28, 2015 18:13
@ton.yeung Ahhhh why did you do that
Aug 28, 2015 17:56
@ToshinouKyouko Why did you edit [identification-request] back on to the Cowboy Bebop question?
Aug 28, 2015 17:31
"What is this piece of music in anime X" is a completely different beast than "what is this anime".

Q: We shouldn't use [identification-request] on questions that aren't really identification requests

senshinEric's post a few days ago about identification requests contains a problematic paragraph: First, let it be clear that I am talking about identifying an anime or manga from one or more images. Some questions, while tagged with identification-request, are not identifying anime or manga, but ra...

@кяαzєя Well, uh, okay. I notice that Frosteeze, in particular, is still apparently unhappy about it because he got the impression I was threatening to spam the site with pornography (Which I wasn't! That was simply the absurdum to which I had reductioed Eric's argument!), but aside from that, I don't really see the problem. I would probably handle that discussion the same way today, perhaps with slightly fewer exclamation marks.
Aug 27, 2016 00:42
("Some users" - specific examples of particularly untactful discourse are welcome!)
Aug 27, 2016 00:41
@кяαzєя I guess that's a fair point, and I'm not going to try to rebut it - I have heard the same criticism in other venues as well. I can certainly make an effort to tone it down going forward.

Showing up here so people can ping me in if they want to talk to me.

Aug 25, 2016 22:34
Perhaps it is worth noting that no less a critic than Roger Ebert was a huge advocate for (serious) anime, and is reportedly a large part of the reason why Miyazaki and Kon are as well-known in the Anglosphere as he is today.

Dec 22, 2015 17:54
@Brick I'm not sure that it's just a matter of opinion. I seem to recall reading that there are historical reasons that some people would focus on "dividend stocks" - prior to the invention/popularization of mutual funds, if you wanted an income stream from your stocks, you'd have to invest in high-dividend stocks, or else your only way to get income from them would be to sell appreciated stock, which is a considerably finickier process. In the modern investing environment, this is an outdated notion afaik, but old ways tend to linger.

You have an asterisk after "they all react the same", but without an associated explanation. Did you mean to mention isotope effects or something?
