Tip, since you mentioned black: Suggest disabling quote normalization. Chances are good he likes single quotes (I think most Python devs do), and black prefers double quotes. With that disabled, that there might not be too many things it will change in your codebase unless it's currently a formatting mess.

If you are using a simple HTTP or SOCKS proxy then it is absolutely no different from connecting to a website, an email server, etc., except that it's using a different protocol (in case of SOCKS). There is absolutely no way to "travel back through his computer" unless he's using a VPN.

@Undo I usually keep them if they are very recent. Because it is helpful to know why someone downvoted a perfectly fine answer. Although those comments are rarely replied to..
