mine too evidently. theres loads of examples for normal physical device rules.
I broke my code into 2 segments, the part that sends key strokes, and the part that gets depth mappings from the xbox kinect. when I went to combine them, it seems to break everything.
Im trying to make a theremin type instrument with a synth. Im concluding that it might be better to just
write a shell script using xdotool to process the stream of depth mappings. although that also sounds troublesome. heres a video, pardon my lack of editing. its writing key presses to the physical key board. https://www.youtube.

hello all, Im trying to do a thing, and Im prolly going about it in a dumb way.
I have a synth program, called helm. it takes keyboard key presses, and generates beeps and boops whatever. so then I wrote a program to send key strokes to /dev/input/by-path/platform-i8042-serio-0-event-kbd
which is the actual keyboard for my laptop.
this works, I can make the sounds I want. but its sub ideal, and could open up all sorts of other issues I wish to avoid, if I knew how.

in my code:
int fd = open("/dev/input/by-path/platform-i8042-serio-0-event-kbd", O_WRONLY | O_NONBLOCK);

I have 2 lenovo thinkpads, both running Ubuntu mate 17.10 zesty.
At some point, the T430, stopped connecting to the internet. I was able to see other networks, but not able to connect to my home network.
I swapped the hard drives, and am now able to connect with both laptops.

I have a HASP DRM Key that unlocks a disk image part way though boot. Can someone tell me how I can use the key to mount the disk image on a non-booting image mounted on my hard drive? (Im not sure if it will mount properly, without the DRM key)

wow, great discussion, and I appreciate the answers, This is indeed for a lasercutter, I dont know if I mentioned that, red (FF0000), and blue(0000FF) are control colors in the application I use. The application offers no editing features, it simply interprets vectors such as svg or a variety of other formats. inkscape is free, and I can read svg text reasonably well. I have cut open ended vectors in the past, and this was my intent.

Instead what happend was that the cutter hit the out of bound segments, and slipped on the belt forcing the text down into the hexagons. I could have correct
