well i don't know enough to disagree, but my knee-jerk reaction is that sounds silly

you're suggesting imperative language compilers are unable to support the same optimizations on functional constructs that functional language compilers support?

pastebin services don't typically retain their content as long as SE retains its threads

or is there some sort of stackexchange feature i should use?

say i want to demonstrate that an answer is wrong. to do this i would like to copy-paste a series of commands and their outputs from my terminal. what is the proper way to paste this output in the comments of an answer? just like a link to a pastebin post?

otherwise, im also very comfortable accepting the answer based only on recommendation of some of the other golf wizards here that do understand that J solution

i need some rudimentary understanding of the language syntax to verify its adhering to spec

if i were only verifying the output for each input i try, then i would not have disqualified that mathematica answer (or any of the answers using a complex codomain)
Jan 9, 2014 02:00
can i accept an answer i can't read or know how to validate?
Jan 9, 2014 01:59
ive already accepted it as the answer based entirely on the fact nobody has raised a valid objection
Jan 9, 2014 01:57
however, i don't know how to verify that the shortest answer (codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/11970/3348) is complete and correct
Jan 9, 2014 01:56
i definitely agree that the originally accepted answer (codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/11972/3348) doesn't adhere to spec
