Andreas condemns Israel

 Arab–Israeli conflict

Room for discussing the Arab–Israeli conflict

> Of 200 bodies, only 10 were confirmed as Hamas members': IDF soldiers who served in Gaza tell Haaretz that anyone who crosses an imaginary line in the contested Neztarim corridor is shot to death, with every Palestinian casualty counting as a terrorist – even if they were just a child

@User1865345 Just wait until somebody asks about the Kurds. There are other countries I'd rather see condemnations from.
Aug 10, 2024 12:08
I’ve discussed this conflict several times with Israelis, Jews and Americans. I often struggle to reach through, much because we are informed by sources so differently.
Aug 10, 2024 12:06
It is certainly more nuanced than the simple fact that Israel is committing crimes against humanity.
Aug 10, 2024 12:05
Looking through quite a few pages of transcripts, I can only find links to reports of Israel committing actions, legitimate or not, either in Gaza, Yemen, elsewhere, or American politicians such as Bernie Sanders saying Benjamin Netanhyauh is a war criminal. In other words, I can’t seem to find the nuance I am looking for. That’s quite unfortunate, as I’d hoped this feed could give the full picture of the situation.

@raf Well, yes and no. I’ve had 555 for a month (or two already?), but a week ago, my computer also started having issues with booting from hibernation/sleep sometimes. The only thing that works for me is cutting the power supply. Although I get no video output at all, and the fans stop spinning shortly after turning it on. RGB stays on, mostly, but the CPU pump also seems to shut down. The CPU fans, though, they keep running.
Aug 17, 2024 20:44
@nobody 470 is years old, the latest is 555, with 560 in development.

Keeping CD stuff on CD is fine with me, but I figured I could respond to CD stuff when others continue talking about it.

I didn’t see that message, so I have no idea what it was even about.
Aug 8, 2024 20:41
don’t always agree. Typos galore.
Aug 8, 2024 20:30
@DavidDE No.
Aug 8, 2024 20:30
@DavidDE Somebody commented that in a new answer. I flagged it for conversion to a comment, not sure if that’s been done already. Matthew can be a bit black and white in his opinions, yes, but I appreciate that he’s contributing, nonetheless. Yeah, I don’t always disagree with him, either. If you think the answers are wrong, just downvote them (requires an account).

@StephenKitt A similar concern was raised in the AskUbuntu room too, so he's not the only one in the bigger group. But happy to hear you're fine with it, at least.
Aug 8, 2024 12:02
As it's sparked some controversy amongst regulars of the room already, might be best to just not go through with it, then.
Aug 8, 2024 12:00
Well, then. :)
Aug 8, 2024 11:58
Well, it may sound wrong coming from the person suggesting a feed in the first place, but it isn't up to SE to decide. It's a choice of the community.
Aug 8, 2024 11:53
My point was just that SE didn't go after any individuals in the community, so far as I can see.
Aug 8, 2024 11:52
It was during that strike I decided to leave. I decided to stay in chat, and occasionally leave a comment or two on MSO or MSE.
Aug 8, 2024 11:47
Nope, won't do that; trust me, we had a strike last year.
Aug 8, 2024 11:44
~upper left corner, not right, but anyway.
Aug 8, 2024 11:43
But it's just a suggestion. I'm not a regular in these rooms, so if people here don't want it, I won't nag about it.
Aug 8, 2024 11:41
@ilkkachu It is. Either a ticker feed that temporarily appears in the upper right corner in the chat room to users present in the room, or the standard as-a-message feed.
Aug 7, 2024 20:16
There's no goal of attacking the company or platform, simply expanding the pool of knowledge and growing the collective community, which has always been the goal of the contributors.
Aug 7, 2024 20:15
No?
Aug 7, 2024 20:14
is not unethical.
Aug 7, 2024 20:14
All the value on these sites, is the knowledge that's been donated for free by invididuals. People have given their time, effort and skills to build this place, and they have not been given any payment in return for it, meanwhile SE has cashed out big time on it. SE is a for-profit company that uses the community for their own interests, and turned evil long ago. Standing up for the community's own interests, even if they don't align with the corporate profit-driven interests of SE,
Aug 7, 2024 20:12
It's not true.
Aug 7, 2024 20:12
I strongly disagree.
Aug 7, 2024 20:11
What is?
Aug 7, 2024 20:06
CMs that took the community's side have previously been fired, yes, but I don't see how that's relevant here.
Aug 7, 2024 20:06
Community Managers? As long as they don't try to defend it internally in the company if a manager brings it up, they should be fine.
Aug 7, 2024 20:04
Nobody here is hired or paid for by SE, though. Everyone is a contributor giving their resources out for free, primarily to the community and the bigger world. It's not like you're here to serve SE.
Aug 7, 2024 20:02
It would be a maximum of 1 question per day on average, I think.
