General discussion about arduino.stackexchange.com

The 2-3 limit is because I remember some of the answers had a lot of images + some were high res leading to excessive load times on an already image heavy page. (Not everybody has broadband speeds and it gets annoying pretty fast).
Feb 24, 2015 14:49
Other than that, a few things that should definitely be changed IMO:
- Project Code should be freely available online
- Basic Project Circuit Diagram should be also be required
- Limit the number of images *shown* per answer to 2-3 and/or maybe require a YouTube video showing demo

@AnnonomusPenguin That will need some thought. I was thinking of making the contest emphasize more on 1) projects having potential for some kind of local-social-environmental impact or/and 2) are innovative solutions in some form. Its difficult to say what to expect, but given the growing maturity of the site and growing community, I think it can be pulled off. Just to be clear, I don't mean excluding certain projects, just to maybe encourage more useful (beyond one person) projects.
Feb 24, 2015 05:41
@AnnonomusPenguin Sure. It was relatively popular last year. We got external attention and support from SE. It would make sense to keep it going annually at the very least. But then again, I am not in touch with things on the site at present so you'll be a better judge of this.
Feb 24, 2015 05:39
@AnnonomusPenguin I have been pretty busy with stuff. Haven't been active on SE for quite a while now.
Feb 23, 2015 06:02
Hey @AnnonomusPenguin . How are you doing? I was wondering if there are any plans for Arduino Day this year? Site traffic looks great so whatever is done will probably end up being bigger than last time.
May 15, 2014 14:09
Account is not working. Time to take it up with the CMs?
May 15, 2014 14:08
@PeterR.Bloomfield @AnnonomusPenguin @sachleen Would you mind pushing this up the ladder? twitter.com/StackArduino
May 15, 2014 01:43
@deadbeef Yes. Yes. R/W cycles are limited though. 100,000 only.
Mar 25, 2014 14:13
@hithwen Hello. Its great that the experience turned out to be a learning one for all involved. We are still growing and every effort helps take us forward, so great that you're sharing :)
Mar 25, 2014 00:54
@AnnonomusPerson What prompted that?
Mar 25, 2014 00:47
@TheGuywithTheHat I wouldn't disregard that, though.
Mar 25, 2014 00:46
@TheGuywithTheHat Fair enough.

Ok. I was thinking it would be around a week.
May 23, 2014 06:37
@Quincunx Quick question: When does a code-golf end? Is there a set duration?

A: Write a hello world GUI program that closes itself after three seconds

AsheeshRShell and gedit - 27 characters timeout 3 gedit Hello World timeout utility runs a command for the duration specified. It ensures that gedit runs for 3 seconds, assuming minimal startup time. Any editor can be used in place of gedit. If a shorter named editor is used like gvim, the leng...

I was trying to stay away from Codegolf but I finally gave in :)

@Doorknob I wasn't wrong then :) How old is @hichris123?
May 14, 2014 16:11
@Doorknob plan .. not really. Would I mind? Not at all :) The early stages of a site make for the most rewarding part of moderation.
May 14, 2014 13:31
@Doorknob Stepped down. Last week.
May 14, 2014 13:31
@rolfl First day of private beta is usually 30-50 questions. So, not a good idea.

No offense to anyone :)

It should be added as a ticker, not chat messages. @Doorknob Mind changing?
May 14, 2014 12:41
Who thought it was a good idea to add the main question feed into the chatroom on the FIRST DAY? :P
May 14, 2014 09:56
First day, not many questions. Not too good.

@Braiam Yeah, I just felt 6-7 seconds is quite a lot.
May 3, 2014 11:54
I recently installed Debian 7 with GNOME and XFCE. I am getting a 6-7 second faster boot with XFCE than with GNOME. 49 sec vs 42-43 seconds. Is this normal/expected?

Q: What are the two sections of this dmidecode output?

AsheeshRI ran dmidecode on my system to AMD E-450 verify certain processor information. However, I am not sure what the two sections of the output indicate. $ sudo dmidecode -t processor # dmidecode 2.11 SMBIOS 2.7 present. May 1, 2014 02:30
@strugee I meant that this is too simple to be really worth a question.
May 1, 2014 02:26
@strugee This should be very basic stuff. I am not sure because I don't deal with this a lot.
May 1, 2014 02:25
The second is the processor information, I think. What is the first section?
May 1, 2014 02:25
The two portions of the output are showing different information.
May 1, 2014 02:24
