also, one of my main uses for Google Wave is when the players split the party. If both chat rooms were public, then that would kind of defeat the purpose
Nov 9, 2010 04:25
it would be particularly difficult, in a linear chat, to resolve combat in initiative order
Nov 9, 2010 04:01
@BrianBallsunStanton yes, that's true, and the threading of responses in Google Wave can make things a lot easier to read as well
Nov 9, 2010 03:57
and if they pull the plug on Google Wave at the end of December, then it isn't that persistent ....

you can access the full history of a chat room on SE, though, right?

For example, I like the way that Dicelink can even handle nonexistent dice, like 1d9 (useful for mirror image, to know which image was hit)
Nov 9, 2010 03:53
yeah, the graphics are cute, but there are other features that would make it more useful
Nov 9, 2010 03:50
more kinds of dice, or more quantities of dice?
Nov 9, 2010 03:50
my players don't trust Dicelink or Dicey Wave bots either :-)
Nov 9, 2010 03:44
To put it another way: why did you go with a combination of Google Wave and SE Chat, rather than running the entire game on SE?
Nov 9, 2010 03:43
Is there a reason you're not using the Dice Service bot in "The Back Room" chat?
Nov 3, 2010 07:18
that looks pretty sweet. I'll give it a go.
Nov 3, 2010 07:15
I edit the maps in Campaign Cartographer, then upload them as PNG files
Nov 3, 2010 07:15
The one thing I haven't found is a decent Wave gadget for handling maps.

:987 Hence, this news made me a bit sad:
Nov 3, 2010 07:10
:987 I've been running games on Google Wave in between my group's regularly-scheduled, face-to-face sessions. It's been particularly useful when they split the party, as they are wont to do, since I can fork off new waves for only the players who are present.
