Please consider reopening this question It is clear the Op is looking for a simple solution to a problem he is presenting to his students. He (the OP) has solutions to the problem but probably beyond the skill sets of his students.

@MartinR Thanks MartiR. I'll make note on that. Cheers!

Does anybody know if there is a command similar to "\xrightarrow{}{}", which can be used for example to show convergence $x_n\xrightarrow{n\rightarrow\infty}x$, but for convergence in distribution $\mu_n\stackrel{n\rightarrow\infty}{\Longrightarrow}\mu$? (here I am using "\stackrel{n\rightarrow\infty}{\Longrightarrow}".

Perhaps one should look at the modulus of continuity of a function.

@FShrike: thanks for taking time to answer y questions/objections. Time to go back to work.
Aug 9, 2024 19:34
@JyrkiLahtonen: thanks for the input.
Aug 9, 2024 19:31
@FShrike: Your second point is interesting. Hence my opinion that if several duplicates are found with good answers, they get merged. Unless that process is indeed a royal pain in the neck.
Aug 9, 2024 19:25
@JyrkiLahtonen: how difficult it is to merge duplicates? I have seem duplicates whith answers are very different to other linked postings. Closure for me is not a problem, but deleting such postings it is. One moderator told me that merging is destructive, irreversible and a tool of last resort. In any event, I am looking forward for the candidates views ion this...
Aug 9, 2024 19:22
@FShrike: I just want to have an idea of how you intend to approach things. Specially in light of the comments of Jyrki, who I think was a superb moderator. Also, notice that as far as I now, there are no term limits, so I want to make sure that when I vote, I have some information.
Aug 9, 2024 19:19
@FShrike: As to whether you're coming too strong or you would post a threat, etc. No, after all there other moderators and I imagine they work based on consensus when major issues arise, but what do I know. I don't doubt that you have very good intensions and would strive to do conduct yourself according to the rules set for moderators in SE.
Aug 9, 2024 19:16
@XanderHenderson: at this point I rather spent time analyzing the candidates views than chatting with you.
Aug 9, 2024 19:11
@XanderHenderson: I am not surprise of your views, that is why this time I don't want to have buyer's remorse. My preference are for moderators that have been with us before you. I would not be either a good candidate for moderator, not have the appetite to add a taks to something that I do as a hobby. But thanks for your suggestions.
Aug 9, 2024 18:37
@FShrike: Of course, as members of the community they have their own opinions on matters. So when they think a posting should be reopen, closed etc, they use the request at Meta or other community resources (some make their suggestions in CURED) instead of using their mod-tools do do it without community input.
Aug 9, 2024 18:33
@FShrike: it is not about super-powers per se, but rather tools to make their Jons. My view of moderator is much more in line to what Webster's dictionary states or even along the lines of the Cambridge dictionary. Moderators should not be the judge and the jury at the same time.
Aug 9, 2024 18:02
@FShrike: As a moderator, even though you are also a member and have your own opinions and biases in what is fair and what is not) your vote has much more weight. That is why for the moist part I have not seen moderators voting to reopen, close, delete or undelete questions without having input (in the way or flags or request) from the community first.
Aug 9, 2024 18:00
@FShrike: I think using moderators super-powers to reopen or delete questions is not very ethical. There are already mechanisms (the Reopen/Undelete post in Meta for example. Doing so, moderators become like greek gods (although luckily out current moderators have conduct themselves ethically).
Aug 8, 2024 14:25
@Sahaj: which is a great thing! CURED is prompt to heated arguments and flags to moderators are the best option to cool things down. Also, who would want the judge and prosecutor to be the same person in one case.
Aug 8, 2024 14:20
@FShrike: The issue is that moderators have an additional privilege and if a moderator starts putting his/her opinions in such a public forum and starts acting according his/her individual biases (instead of in consensus with the other mods as it should) then this starts to look as the current US supreme court. I appreciate that most moderators are sort of invisible (other than posting answers and questions of course, and math related chats). /That keeps the sense of fairness and impartiality.
Aug 8, 2024 14:17
There are only a handful of moderators (actually one sometimes two) that participate at @FShrike: Only one (sometimes two, but that is very rare now) participate at CURED. I frankly would prefer that the number were zero, and if there were disputes, that they be handle with flags.
Aug 7, 2024 17:36
@XanderHenderson: I think it would interesting to know if there is data available on new number of new users (per month or weakly) since MSE came to this world, and of data on number of users that have not been active for more than a year. My impression is that other than actuarial reasons, many great participants have left the site, number of new accounts compare to the hay-days (2015-1018) is in decline. This is nothing moderators can do, but perhaps MSE is not that welcoming anymore.
Aug 7, 2024 17:26
Although ideally it would be great that every single question in MSE (whether is elementary maths or abstract nonsence category theory) is a good question (whatever that means); however, actuarial factors, emergence of newer-firnedlier Q/A sites, and our own myope in how we curate postings is hindering growth and increasing decline.
Aug 7, 2024 17:25
I would like the candidates about their opinion regarding the decline of postings in MSE. This is not due do seasonality, the downward trend started in August 2020. This might be due to the enforcement of quality standards.
