They've expanded PowerBI since inception but traditional paginated reports is still an afterthought, and it lacks features that have been in SSRS for ages, like data driven subscriptions.
@Yano_of_Queenscastle Yes, very much so. The simplest way to describe their differences from a use case perspective is PowerBI was designed for live interactive visualized reports (graphs and charts), not paginated reports (grids and matrices) that can be statically printed and emailed out.
Actually, any way we can create an integration in SSMS to add commas to all the things that really should have them? My biggest gripe with SSMS prevails. :D
Would love to create something that auto-cleans your code when altering the object it belongs to, so it forces all developers to not forget to clean their code. Maybe CLR + TSQL ScriptDOM + Triggers...or maybe that's a terrible idea lol.
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling Word up. Is there a way to have it auto-format your code, or you have to manually tell it to every time you're done writing code?
Conversely, would not recommend Sea Palace the floating Chinese restaurant there. Food was sub-par and the service sucked. Idk how they are Michelin rated.
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling unfortunately no, with how late we planned this thing and how busy it was this holiday weekend, most restaurants in the city were booked out - some for like a month lol.
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling speaking of pretty good food, I leave for Amsterdam tomorrow and we realized France is only a 3 hour train ride, so was gonna hit you up for some more recs. But unfortunately the trains are undergoing some kind of construction or something, so there's literally almost no trains available anymore. A trip for another time, I suppose. Maybe I'll roll France into the Portugal / Spain combo, if I can finagle enough time off.
@SeanGallardy The contrast of lifestyle and visual surroundings when visiting Lancaster never gets old to me, having been born and raised in Long Island. But I don't think I could trade it for what I'm used to here, full time.
It is interesting how functions are supposed to be non-side-effecting though and then allow things like this or straight up OPENQUERY() which has typically been my go-to for doing the things you shouldn't do in a function.
