What ever you decide to do, don't make it about the salary. All that will do is make an awkward situation worse.

> You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off.
Aug 16, 2018 21:01
If we switch the phone to airplane mode and back we get the following error:
Aug 16, 2018 20:53
As I said, I've checked them against the details in my phone and, unless I've missed something, they're identical. But I will double check.
Aug 16, 2018 20:50
The frustrating thing is that no one we've talked to at customer support seems to understand what the problem is. They don't seem to have picked up on the "R" thing at all.
Aug 16, 2018 20:50
Just checked the website and can't see anything.
Aug 16, 2018 20:49
They didn't suggest that, so I'm guessing not.
Aug 16, 2018 20:39
Well I've posted a question, let's see how that goes.
Aug 16, 2018 20:30
We've talked to the operator and they sent a new sim - which exhibits exactly the same problem. Their last word was to the effect of "it's a problem with your handset".
Aug 16, 2018 20:29
We'd worked out that the "R" stands for roaming ;)
Aug 16, 2018 20:00
What keywords should I be searching for?
Aug 16, 2018 20:00
Other than that, is there anything we can do to get the phone to recognise the correct network?
Aug 16, 2018 19:59
We haven't tried a factory reset of the phone yet.
Aug 16, 2018 19:59
I'm also with Plusnet and if we swap sims hers works properly in my phone but mine still shows the "R". This make me think it's something wrong with the phone itself.
Aug 16, 2018 19:58
The operator piggybacks on EE and the name at the top left says "EE - plusnet", but there is an "R" over the mobile signal strength indicator.
Aug 16, 2018 19:57
Going to Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators shows a list of possible networks (The usual UK ones: EE, Vodafone etc) but not the one she's with.
Aug 16, 2018 19:55
My wife has recently switched mobile operator and now can't get mobile data. Phone calls and text are OK. WiFi is OK.
Aug 16, 2018 19:55
I have a question that I'm not sure is on topic & I'm not sure how to frame it as a good question either ;)

It is a hold over from the camera I had before the 450/Rebel
May 6, 2018 20:40
The 70D still has the red locator dot so my old (and probably crappy) 75-300 would still work.
May 6, 2018 20:38
I'd like to be able to take action shots, but I think my lack of skill is the main thing holding me back there ;)
May 6, 2018 20:37
No that's not what I meant - non zoom is what I meant
May 6, 2018 20:37
To that would be a fixed focal length lens?
May 6, 2018 20:35
So this weekend I wanted to use it a wedding and if I'm on holiday then I'd like to take the scenery.
May 6, 2018 20:35
Portraits and landscapes I suppose.
May 6, 2018 20:33
Ah right.
May 6, 2018 20:32
I was thinking of upgrading to IS lenses.
May 6, 2018 20:31
That one's got the red locator dot and it older technology. So I could get a body and new longer lens.
May 6, 2018 20:31
@PhilipKendall The 18-55mm that came with the Rebel kit and really old 75-300mm.
May 6, 2018 20:30
So the lower the number of digits in the name the better?
May 6, 2018 20:29
@PhilipKendall Ah. I did wonder
May 6, 2018 19:43
A quick search of Canon products has turned up the 1300D, but should I be going "up" a model or two? I don't want to spend loads of money though. For example, I've found a second hand 1300D on ebay with two lenses for £400 - ebay.co.uk/itm/… - is this the bargain it seems to be?
May 6, 2018 19:41
I've got to start saving up for a new camera. My SLR died at my brother-in-law's wedding yesterday. It was a Canon EOS450/Digital Rebel. Quite a few year's old. I don't do a great deal of photography these days but still like to use an SLR when I do.

@MaskedMan You can disagree while still being civil. No one is suggesting you can't disagree.
Nov 3, 2017 16:06
@MisterPositive If you need to prefix your comment with "not to be a jerk" you are clearly aware you are being a jerk. While room topics can vary, if a mod asks you to keep it on topic, I'd listen.

@PaulWhite Will do. I've got half a dozen other things on the go at the moment so it might be a couple of days before I get round to it.
Aug 9, 2017 14:00
@PaulWhite Probably. At least we're not using a float :)
Aug 9, 2017 13:59
@PaulWhite The problem is that the SQL<>C# conversion is done in generated code and I it's rather a large file to search and examine. I think that that's my next step - find the actual code that does the conversion and see if there's a difference there.
Aug 9, 2017 13:57
@Lamak It appears to be repeatable.
Aug 9, 2017 13:57
@Lamak Yes. That's consistent.
Aug 9, 2017 13:56
@PaulWhite That's what I was afraid of.
Aug 9, 2017 13:55
Is it worth asking this as a question? Or am I missing something obvious?
Aug 9, 2017 13:55
But the database that's incorrect is also on SQL Server 11.0.6248
Aug 9, 2017 13:54
Well the database that's correct is on SQL Server 11.0.6248
Aug 9, 2017 13:53
@PaulWhite Ah.
Aug 9, 2017 13:46
@Lamak It's a C# decimal. I'm thinking that the problem is in the conversion but I can't see anything obvious.
Aug 9, 2017 13:44
@Lamak The code is C# and the value is decimal, the database is MSSQL and the column is money
Aug 9, 2017 13:44
@sp_BlitzErik I had that thought, but the calculated value is independent of locale.
Aug 9, 2017 13:43
I'm saying "appear" a lot because they should be the same, but I haven't checked everything.
