@rebusB It might just free up artists to actually create again. Or get them fired.
Apr 22 20:25
@rebusB That's indeed a much clearer analogy, but maybe even still too lenient, as an art director (proper) needs a clear, harmonious vision, which every aspect of a project is seen in and adjusted to.
Apr 19 09:29
"AI art" itself is still uncharted territory, in the sense that currently some people will use it to push the envelope just for the sake of it, and many AI "artists" finally have a tool to create "creative" things (in my opinion confusing the tool with the creative process), and this community obviously works a bit like an echo chamber, in which everyone-must-be-an-artist-because-I-want-to-be-considered-as-such. But as with any medium, it can definitely be used to create true art.
Apr 19 09:23
"AI art" also never really sat well with me, but if you consider a term like "concept art", it becomes a lot more digestible - 'art' in this broader sense can simply mean illustration (being a "mere" artefact (but some graphic novels, comics, animated films definitely transcend this). The same with music, film, video games, books ("literature" as a somewhat clearly defined body of written art).
Apr 19 09:20
The idea of what constitutes art is more or less fluctuating, the idea of what is art is definitely and necessarily always in flux, allowing for art not just to be something nice to look at, but something that by its very nature invites the observer to think, to reconsider, to reflect, to expand their boundaries (aesthetics).
Apr 19 09:20
@Muse As a quick reply: 'art' is an overly broad concept, which needs to be defined in order to have a meaningful discussion about it. There is a difference between art as a mere (well-crafted) artefact (the more subjective interpretation) or 'art' as an artefact considered to be of significant value because of context and intent (the more objective interpretation, but these easily shift into one another).

@galacticninja Yeah, exactly, hence it seemed like a great answer, instead of one considered bad by our friend Community. Thanks, this is much better!
Mar 13 17:40
This answer got deleted immediately as I was checking out its merit (as spam, even though it links to knowyourmeme, which is used a lot on M&TV). It may very well be the OP was right: the numbers in the screenshot don't appear on the Fandom page linked in the answer. Can a moderator perhaps check out the user?
Feb 27 20:26
@pinckerman Note there is a difference in spelling 'visualization' between American and British English: both are completely fine and right (but British is obviously more fine and right). (Figured I'd bring it up here instead of under the post.)

No problems.
Mar 5 00:42
Exactly :) Thank, Napoleon.
Mar 5 00:42
Obviously here
Mar 5 00:41
In the comments on my nomination, but I haven't yet found how to see them now.
Mar 5 00:38
@galacticninja ↑ :)
Feb 27 09:41
@Randal'Thor I think I might nominate myself, yes.
Feb 27 09:40
@galacticninja Increasingly so, yes.
Feb 20 10:39
@galacticninja Pity :)
Feb 20 10:32
@galacticninja How about you? Any chance you'll step up as a new moderator candidate?
Feb 19 12:00
@Randal'Thor Hopefully, as long as I can reign in my emotions :) I'll think it over. Thanks for your vote of confidence.
Feb 19 10:51
@NapoleonWilson Now I wonder too.
Feb 19 10:51
@Randal'Thor A little. I'm not sure I'd be a good fit for this community somehow.

Feb 14 15:06
@galacticninja Sorry I never got back to you. Yes, I think you are correct.
Feb 9 11:27
@galacticninja But I'm not sure if new users posing one question need more time: if they're truly interested in the answer, they will revisit the Q&A regularly - if not (i.c. e.g. they found their answer elsewhere), they won't anyway, and the question will remain unclear, or have answers based on (subjective) interpretations, don't you think?
Feb 9 11:24
I think you might be misinterpreting the description (or am I?): only after those 30 days it seems those 9 days you speak of kick in ("If the question was closed more than 9 days ago", then ..).
Feb 9 11:01
On the other hand, I was just curious about your reasoning, and I don't mind the single CV as a dupe at all :)
Feb 9 11:00
But Roomba wouldn't kick in until after 30 days, at which point the OP should have edited in those details anyway, right? Or the question becomes obsolete and unhelpful anyway.
Feb 9 10:52
@galacticninja But then it should be (suggested to be) closed as NDC.
Feb 9 10:52
@galacticninja But they could be playing on Android, Steam Decks, or laptops, right?
Feb 9 10:52
@galacticninja Why on iPads, specifically? They could be playing on other devices, right, or am I missing something?

Jul 26, 2024 22:46
@Duga Thanks, I asked there as well.

@GregBurghardt Thanks, Greg!

Hi, we just received a question on Arts & Crafts which is off-topic there, but I wonder if the part about rights would be on-topic here, obviously with adjustments and a more focused question? TIA!

@Dom You mean the low engagement and visits and the like? It's the same on Arts & Crafts, unfortunately, and only got worse since the Rise Of AI..
Jun 19, 2024 15:11
Hi @Dom, I was about to respond to this meta thread, wondering why flags are still handled only sporadically and many age away, but figured I'd ask here first: Donald.McLean seems to have been absent for over two years, and you seem to have been most recently active over a month ago: do/could you need additional moderator support?

Jun 9, 2024 20:32
@NotThatGuy The statement "then computers do that" requires a heck of a lot of nuance to have any significant weight here :)

Mar 23, 2024 08:03
It's also generally understood that it is hard for new users to adjust to this network: it takes a while to understand the mechanics of it all. And in comments users tend to be (as they have to be) succinct, which can come across as dismissive, which is (almost always) unintentional.
Mar 23, 2024 07:59
@Fallenspacerock Reading your question I also interpreted it as such, that your two questions are part of the same main question, but I can also see why others interpret it differently. And there lies the beauty of democracy :D
Mar 23, 2024 07:58
In any case, please note that JBH is not trying to annoy you, or have a personal issue with you: they are a moderator, and as such volunteer to put time and energy in communicating and maintaining the rules, which is not easy (I'm a moderator on a tiny site on this network, and there already experience moments of distress).
Mar 23, 2024 07:48
@Fallenspacerock The problem is that those rules change over time, and it depends on the community if new rules are acted upon retroactively. But you are right in that there are a lot of questions that ask more subquestions, especially when you go back (your example is from over 8 years ago). But the division between a main question with obvious subquestions and a question consisting of several independent questions is not always obvious.

Mar 21, 2024 09:45
I was commenting, not answering, hence I use the comment section, and not an answer. And I was commenting to ask for clarification, to get a better understanding of what the context is.
Mar 21, 2024 09:45
"[..] geometrically sitting upon a flat plane": like how flat texture images are projected/UV-wrapped unto complex meshes, for example? And if so, if geometry "deals with the deduction of the properties, measurement, and relationships of points, lines, angles, and figures in space from their defining conditions by means of certain assumed properties of space" doesn't "flatness" refer to an abstraction? And even so, isn't the skin of any round object flat? Which "flat" are you speaking of, and is that "flat" incongruous with your first premise?

Mar 14, 2024 20:20
I believe this should be okay on anime.SE. You can always ask in advance in their chatroom. Good luck!

Mar 7, 2024 20:30
Would a question about solving a worldbuilding problem based on a short story be on-topic here? This is not about an existing IP. I'm recreating a landscape described in the story in detail, but there is an incongruity present (having to do with the width of a landscape feature the sun is supposed to shine through to light up seemingly too large an area), which I would like to solve.

Mar 7, 2024 18:06
@ChristopherJamesHuff That idea is based on the popular media the OP references, which in turn is based, I think, on the occurrence of 'time dilation' in dreams (at times referred to using that very same term by lucid dreamers), and perhaps, along that line, because of the The Matrix trilogy, which popularized a coalescence of those states. I agree it is highly unlikely to impossible it works that way, hence my answer :)
Mar 7, 2024 18:06
I honestly don't see how this is unclear, even as much as to warrant derision (R&M was referenced in the preceding sentence). Only one video game is mentioned to exemplify the scenario, in addition to two wildly popular shows. Yes, it could have used a little more explaining, but the OP is a new user (welcome, by the way!).
Mar 7, 2024 18:06
Time dilation in this context seems to be the discrepancy between real time and simulated time.

Mar 4, 2024 23:14
(And also: having a question closed for requiring details is not in any way a penalty (unless people initially downvote for that reason and forget to cancel their downvote or upvote after reopening, which is disagreeable)).
