Well, bookmarking that for future use.

"]Rows on -fold=3 will let you scroll horizontally and trim large outputs so that they don't flood your screen vertically."
Nov 30, 2021 09:45
@Adám Ah, thank you!
Nov 30, 2021 09:45
@rak1507 Yeah, that would probably work, but I guess I was being stubborn and trying to understand the set-up I had/lost.
Nov 30, 2021 09:43
@Adám I vaguely remember reading on a website (I think it was a tips page written by yourself for newbies?) something about ]rows, and being able to configure the session to not wrap your long output. I'm running on a new session and I've lost the behavior and it's super annoying. Any idea what resource I might be referencing?
Nov 23, 2021 14:57
@Adám I find that's probably my most common use. Used today, even.
Nov 23, 2021 14:51
≠⊆⊢ is always a nice one
Nov 3, 2021 13:12
@rak1507 Perfect, thank you.
Nov 3, 2021 13:11
@Adám That's neat- I didn't know that. Thanks! I'll be sure to share.
Nov 3, 2021 13:08
@rak1507 I didn't see anything to suggest that it would act this way in docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/vba/api/word.documents.open
Nov 3, 2021 13:06
@Adám Essentially I was hoping that things would look relative to the current directory (F:\APL_Dvlp\Tasks\TestMSoffice). But Word is looking under my documents. Is this just a feature of the Word OLE?
Nov 3, 2021 13:04
myWordDoc←Word.Documents.Open⊂'./Data/Test.rtf' yields DOMAIN ERROR: Sorry, we couldn't find your file. Was it moved, renamed, or deleted?
(C:\Users\james\Documents\Data\Test.rtf)
Nov 3, 2021 13:03
This works fine: #.INI←⎕NEW #.IniFiles(,⊂'INIs/TestMSoffice.ini')
Nov 3, 2021 13:03
⎕CMD 'cd'
F:\APL_Dvlp\Tasks\TestMSoffice
]cd
F:\APL_Dvlp\Tasks\TestMSoffice
Nov 3, 2021 13:02
Afternoon all. Not sure if I'm missing something super simple here. I'm setting up a task to test out communications with the Microsoft Office OLE on Windows Server 2019 (been having some problems for a client). I run a WinFile.PolishCurrentDir (essentially setting the cd to that of the workspace). That allows me to read my INI file using a relative path, but when I go to work with a sample Word doc, it's looking in the wrong place (under my user folder).
Oct 5, 2021 14:51
@Adám Perfect, my thoughts too. Thanks.
Oct 5, 2021 14:42
Hi all. I'm working with an OLE instance of Word. Querying the methods using GetMethodInfo, it returns a vector of vectors for the parameters. I can see that there are three parameters on the Quit method, for example. If I run the method with a scalar argument from APL, does it scalar extend, or implement some sort of overloading to set the value for only one parameter? (They are optional from what I can tell in the docs).
Jan 19, 2021 09:24
@Adám I thought you were referring to the official FAQ.
Jan 19, 2021 09:19
@Adám Ah I missed that, no worries.
Jan 19, 2021 09:09
@Adám Dah, will have to find another clever one now... Was pretty proud of myself for spotting that, lol.
Jan 19, 2021 09:07
Original rules state 'In addition to the four digits 2 0 1 6, only primitive functions/operators, parentheses/braces, spaces, high minus signs and decimal points can be used. The resultant expressions must be deterministic (that is, give the same result on repeated evaluations).' Does this mean that solution is illegal?
Jan 19, 2021 09:05
@Adám were discussing it in Optima, and decided to recreate the problem for this year. (optima-systems.co.uk/programming-challenge-the-year-game) I had a solution for 29 using 2 0 2 1, but I wasn't sure the rules permitted: |20J21
Jan 19, 2021 08:45
@Adám were you involved with the dyalog.com/2016-year-game.htm?

Dec 1, 2020 20:37
@Adám Very true. Perhaps I will use Link for this project after all.
Dec 1, 2020 20:35
@Adám I thought you were going to propose foo←{2×⍵} :)
Dec 1, 2020 20:33
@Adám Should have spotted that earlier. Thanks!
Dec 1, 2020 20:31
First time using link, sorry if this is a silly question. Does it not support something like foo←2∘{⍺×⍵} ? It returns DOMAIN ERROR: Invalid text array *** Fix: Unable to write "foo" to file.
Nov 23, 2020 14:54
@jimfan I plan to write my next blog on using the interface from APL to Python for data visualization. I used Seaborn (seaborn.pydata.org) for a bit of experimentation in my previous blog (optima-systems.co.uk/…), though was all raw Python. This time, I am writing a toolkit to make Python's analytical utilities available to an APLer who is not super knowledgeable in the Python dept.
Nov 7, 2020 21:57
@Adám Done.
Nov 6, 2020 10:35
@Adám Are you still looking for volunteers for this? A couple of my team would be happy to offer a hand.
Nov 4, 2020 16:41
@Adám Thank you.
Nov 4, 2020 16:39
That said, could he get permission to talk in the chat? (user880661)
Nov 4, 2020 16:39
I was originally asking for a colleague, who is trying to do some automated testing.
Nov 4, 2020 16:30
@Adám Now I'm curious...
Nov 4, 2020 16:27
*If you are tasked with producing a set of the APL glyphs, of course.
Nov 4, 2020 16:27
@Adám I was asking more out of curiousity, it's not a necessity by any means. Just figured it must exist- feels like such a nice to have. *
Nov 4, 2020 16:19
@Adám Are you allowed to tell me? :)
Nov 4, 2020 16:01
I guess I'm just being lazy :P
Nov 4, 2020 16:01
Can copy Table 25 into a variable, and remove ⎕UCS 9 10 13 32. Yields +-×÷|⌈⌊*⍟○!?~∧∨⍲⍱<≤=>≥≠≡≢⍴,⍪⌽⊖⍉↑↓⊂⊆⊃∊⍷/⌿\⍀∩∪⍳⍸⌷⍋⍒⍎⍕⊥⊤⊣⊢⌹⍬→←.
Nov 4, 2020 15:57
But the help is a pretty good start, good thinking.
Nov 4, 2020 15:57
It seems like a really specific use case, so I can understand why it's probably not in the system.
Nov 4, 2020 15:54
@dzaima Ah, sorry, I'm referring to Dyalog APL
Nov 4, 2020 15:52
Is there an easy way to list all of the APL functions/operators? ⎕AV lists some (but not all) and is surrounded by alphanumerics and punctuation. Essentially the output I'm after is a vector of all of the glyphs on the language bar in any order (without having to type them out of course ;) )
Oct 2, 2020 14:50
@MortenKromberg Figured as much, but thought it was worth asking. It's fine- it didn't happen to me at least. A colleague was following the tutorial outlined in the Interface Guide (page 61), and fell victim to the ⎕OFF quit function in the temperature converter app.
Oct 2, 2020 14:43
Is there any way to recover work from a ⎕OFF? Someone just lost a lot of code...
Sep 30, 2020 11:45
@RGS I've not tried it with 18.0. I last used it when it was being developed (a long time ago...) It was worked on primarily by Gil Athoraya (github.com/OptimaSystems/vscode-apl-language-client) but I don't think it's being actively worked on.
Sep 23, 2020 12:25
So, weird question... I accidentally left Match Whole Word on when doing a RegEx workspace search (something along the lines of .*SRF). I was hoping to get results ending "SRF". The workspace just hangs in 16.0/17.0/17.1, but seems functional in 18.0 pre-release. What changed, was it just seriously optimized? And what is the expected behavior of combining these two? (I imagine a single word ending SRF?)
Sep 9, 2020 14:24
@Adám Now that's worth a star :)
Aug 24, 2020 14:01
@Adám Right? Just searching on Google is giving me nothing, though.
