The Nineteenth Byte: General discussion for codegolf.stackexc...
Jul 21 01:06
Code trolling is the classic example: after the first few challenges, basically all of them just ended up the same. People still posted them en-masse because other people upvoted and answered them, even though it was literally just doing the same task on repeat
Jul 21 01:05
@lyxal If people upvote them, people will mass post them

Now, I'm not saying Rainbolt is Rainbolt, but it's certainly a fun conspiracy theory :P
Jul 19 18:49
I realized a couple months ago that there was a fairly prominent user on the site who went by Rainbolt. Now, if you Google "Rainbolt", you won't get this person. Instead you'll get human Google Street View. Which. It's a rather specific name. To the point where if you heard about a YTer/streamer/minor celeb going by "caird", you'd expect them to be me.

why?

@UnrelatedString ....what
Jul 7 07:01
Chat.... uh, has changed
Jul 7 07:00

@SandboxPosts Any glaring issues? Thinking about posting in the next couple of days
Apr 9 21:01
I don't know how to respond

@lyxal I
Mar 25 17:13
@Themoonisacheese There you go
Mar 17 16:12
Unless you're Jessie J
Mar 17 15:48
God, whenever I start writing up any post on the site with mathjax, I spend so much time with with $, cause I'm used to just writing latex with $ instead of mathjax with \$ :P
Mar 7 10:17
Any feedback? Need to do the test cases, but that's it, as far as I can tell
Mar 7 10:02
I've played 1 game online and 5 in person, and the only one I quit was the online one, because the hassle and time commitment was waaaaaaay more than for in person games
Mar 7 10:01
@ATaco In person, althought it might be the most difficult to organize, is the best because of this
Mar 7 00:08
@Themoonisacheese Me and my boardgaming friends have seriously discussed trying this out
Mar 2 18:58
As much as this would have been terrible for CGCC to take part in, I really want to see what would have happened if we did :P
Mar 2 14:15
o/
Mar 2 14:10
That feels very much like splitting hairs
Mar 2 14:06
If a python file opened with open(__name__).read() and then later on used open(__name__, 'a').write('get rickrolled'), it'd still be reading its own source code
Mar 2 14:06
If there's no modification, then that's the same as reading the source code
Mar 2 13:42
And the other ><> answer isn't invalid under that same rule. It only modifies its own source code via p; I'd make the argument that "reads its own source code" means that it uses a command which returns data about the contents of the file itself. That is precisely what the g command does, and not close to what p does
Mar 2 13:35
@lyxal the g command literally reads its own source code
Mar 1 18:13
@DLosc Nope, thank god :P
Feb 28 10:56
@lyxal It's always the fr*nch, I swear to god :P
Feb 28 10:55
Hold off on the congrats until I've defended it :P
Feb 28 10:51
I've been using discord too much D:
Feb 28 10:51
Was the only time on langdev? :P
Feb 28 10:51
@lyxal Was the first time on langdev?
Feb 28 10:50
Don't think they'll be having another one soon
Feb 28 10:50
Ahhh, their last election was less than a year ago
Feb 28 10:49
They'll love me with my 399 rep :P
Feb 28 10:47
Does that mean you'll be running for a mod on SE.se soon? :P
Feb 28 10:46
@lyxal True true
Feb 28 10:46
But before I even gave a think about if I should run at least to contest it (given it's my second biggest site), I saw that 2 other people had already done so :P
Feb 28 10:46
I did notice movies.SE was having an election and was uncontested
Feb 28 10:44
I already refuse to handle math.se chat flags, I can't imagine how bad the main site flags are
Feb 28 10:44
God no
Feb 28 10:43
One more month, then spring break for a month, then exams
Feb 28 10:42
@lyxal More or less. My lectures end at the end of march
Feb 28 10:42
Even during reading week (a week they give us in the middle of term to "consolidate", where we get no new lectures), I worked like 30 hours
Feb 28 10:41
Between uni work, actual work and extracurriculars, it's kinda been non-stop
Feb 28 10:41
Yeah
Feb 28 10:40
Defending my thesis on monday, so am taking the weekend to go home and chill with parents and dogs
Feb 28 10:40
But finally managed to get a chill weekend
Feb 28 10:40
