Can I ask why are comments sometimes deleted here? Politics—I understand. Offenses, bad words etc. I've learned my lesson. Other reasons? Is there a penal code here or smth?

By the way, I too know some Latin phrases, like "Facile dictu, difficile factu". I've participated on Sporcle for about four years, and once I saw the test "badly drawn flags". Andorra's flag: something Latin. It's a shame, but I don't remember Andorran motto either... So it's indeed something Latin. Romanian is "Nihil sine Deo".

I think I've got your idea, I can feel English language pretty well.
Dec 9, 2024 22:24
Oh, I think "implication" is a new word for me. Thanks.
Dec 9, 2024 22:22
Oh, I am not gay.)) By any means, I am absolutely straight, I know you are a male. I meant trust or confidence. I sometimes fell myself confused in a chat, where so many people talk to each other at the same time.

Correction: autistic and not *outist. Sorry.
Dec 9, 2024 22:16
@alphabet It's mainly because I prefer intimacy. I am a man who rarely goes outside my room or my home. Basically, I'm autistic. My father is my patron, so he directs everything. But he will die sooner or later, and that's will be a totally different story, a different life.

I am so weak, but my health has recently improved a lot.
Dec 9, 2024 22:11
Let's not talk about that please anymore. I beg you. There are a zillion other topics to discuss...)
Dec 9, 2024 22:07
@alphabet, glad to see you. I have decided to return here for a while. I miss this chat so much. I promise I'll respect all the rules and I will be neutral. But it seems we could have a private room...

Thirdly, I always thought the UK has shops instead of stores.
Sep 5, 2024 04:13
Secondly, I thought "choice" is a noun; thus, it shouldn't have any degrees of comparison. Maybe I am totally wrong!
Sep 5, 2024 04:12
Personally I would address a respectable person in plural rather than in singular. That's my first observation.

God save our gracious King!
Long live our noble King!
God save the King!
Send him victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the King!

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On him be pleased to pour;
Long may he reign:
May he defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the King!
Sep 5, 2024 04:11
A zillion of questions from me, of course.
Sep 5, 2024 04:10
Thy choicest gifts in store on her be pleased to pour.
Sep 5, 2024 04:07
@Cerberus thanks. For instance, I have recently listened to a series of national anthems. However, I don't quite understand what "Thy choicest gifts in store" means. Maybe just a partial, but not a full comprehension. Hmm, do they change their anthem every time when they get a new monarch of a different sex? It seems British queens were rare (I just know five of them in total plus one suspicious/doubtful. Oh, probably illegitimate... that is I wanted to say).

@alphabet good morning or good afternoon. Nice to see you. Can we talk a bit if you don't mind?

In the last few years, I have sometimes had dreams about the future, on the topic of futurology. If you dreamed about the future, it means it was a good night. The oculomotor nerve works. There is a chance to live at least a couple more years!

What have I not dreamed about! Lord, this is the topic of a separate novel! The richest palette of colors!

Nanorobots, teleporters... Chips implanted in the brain, when chess is played with the power of one's thoughts, using only neurons, the neural arc (I heard that as of 2024 this really happens: scientists have learned to implant chips in the bra

I have some plans about learning tengwar (Elvish script) in the future, but it's probably simply too difficult for my brain. I know Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic (both Arabic and Persian), Hebrew (Hebrew and Yiddish), Georgian, Armenian, Devanagari (Hindi), Thai, Korean, Phoenician, Runic (elder Futhark) and Glagolitic scripts though...

@M.A.R. It is the worst dementia I have seen in my life. My father is so angry now. I don't currently know what medicaments he gives to her. He is mad, he is furious. They live in a separate apartment apart from ours. My mother and I live in a different street, slightly different city district.
Aug 20, 2024 20:20
Oh sorry, I think I pinged wrong person @M.A.R.
Aug 20, 2024 20:18
@Mitch my grandma has the worst dementia in the world. She is 87 now. She constantly calls (phones) my father (who also is her son as well) and asks him: "What do I have to do?", even if he is at home. Who knows: is there a cure, a medicine for such a terrible disease?
Aug 20, 2024 19:22
@user20458579510081670432 I am NOT. I speak Russian. My written Russian is absolutely neat and perfect.
Aug 20, 2024 19:21
I think my level is either B1 or B2. Probably B1.
Aug 20, 2024 19:20
Sorry, It was C1. I totally confused everything.
Aug 20, 2024 19:19
Also, her English is extremely good. Awesome knowledge. I think she is advanced (A level?.. oh, those grades...).
Aug 20, 2024 19:17
Dear Mitch, I apologize for changing the topic of our discussion, but I just wish to share a news with you (can I say "a news"? that's a very tough question for me!) that I have found my goddess. I do not need God, I am an absolute feminist. I adore females most of all. She is from Krasnoyarsk. I wonder if in the USA (or in Boston specifically) women are as pretty and as intelligent as her. I think they are!
Aug 20, 2024 19:13
@Mitch no worries, you are welcome.
Aug 20, 2024 19:12
@Mitch Thanks a lot. Your vocabulary is very clear and pretty understandable even for me. Very pure and logical words. I still translated you using my GT; I understand it quite well now.
Aug 20, 2024 19:08
I think it's the former though. Not the latter.
Aug 20, 2024 19:06
Which option is correct: "I let my cat in" or "I let in my cat"? Placement of a direct object while using a phrasal verb. I'm so ashamed I am 35 years old but I have never thought of such weird grammar rules.
Aug 20, 2024 19:04
beat up - is it a phrasal verb?
Aug 20, 2024 19:04
@Mitch thanks. Still you are a bit obscure for me but I like you.
Aug 20, 2024 18:59
Excuse me, but why dissuade anyone?!

You know, at one time there was a wonderful, highly cultured participant here. Well, I once liked her wise answer: "I don't have to prove to anyone that I'm not a camel."

Your relatives ≠ You.

("And you look like your grandmother. But you're not her!" - there was once such a children's poem in the magazine "Murzilka").

So let them [religious believers] think what they want. You are not obliged to follow their lead, you are not obliged to embrace religion following your dad, grandfather, son-in-law, godfather, godfather, neighbor, director, president...

A few seconds, please.
Aug 20, 2024 18:56
Let me translate.
Aug 20, 2024 18:54
@Mitch Can we please talk about atheism? If possible.
Aug 20, 2024 18:47
Oh, my biggest life question is as follows: "Can an atheist believe in devil?" I have heard he/she can. It's an opinion though. An atheist does not believe in God, but he or she can still believe in devil, in gnomes, in banshees, in leprechauns, in mermaids...
Aug 19, 2024 18:24
@Mitch thanks a lot. I'm very glad to see you. Personally I think the noun "perfection" does not require the definite article in front of it because it's an abstract noun, so you can't see it or hear it or touch it et cetera. Compare: "Brevity is the sister of talent." (sigh) Our nation always has worst troubles with those articles. I will probably never master them completely! By the way, I've recently learned a new word (for me) which is "alas".
Aug 19, 2024 18:09
@alphabet Hello. Nice to see you. @all, hello. If you permit I'd like to visit this site from time to time. I am glad I can learn something new. Hmmm, I dislike a little bit too many to's in Michael's sentence if speaking sincerely.

By the way, isn't there a harder version of Wordle? It simply became too boring for me. I now usually solve it in three attempts, rarely four. I wonder if there is smth which is harder to solve (six or seven-letter word, larger vocabulary (harder words), two type of color highlights rather than three, etc.

Oh, if the community permits me: can I also ask... does you week in the USA start with Sunday or Monday? I have had a conversation with an American woman a few years ago, and she told me it differs from person to person. E.g. she considers that a week starts on Sunday; her husband, on Monday.
In Russian language (in Russia, of course) the first day of any week is MONDAY. An absolute fact. Sunday is the last one.
Jul 23, 2024 05:15
OK, thanks. Eastern Time. For some reason, I am bad in remembering this((

The fact we can have Saturday, Sunday and Monday simultaneously makes me crazy/insane!

In the United States, time is divided into nine standard time zones covering the states, territories and other US possessions, with most of the country observing daylight saving time (DST) for approximately the spring, summer, and fall months. The time zone boundaries and DST observance are regulated by the Department of Transportation, but no single map of those existed until the agency announced intentions to make one in September 2022. Official and highly precise timekeeping services (clocks) are provided by two federal agencies: the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) (an...
