I don't think it's a good idea in retro...
Jan 12 06:20
@cocomac no, something along the lines of allowing instances to operate in tandem
Jan 12 05:04
I mean, smokey has failover yes, but when MS is down, it's down

Federated Spamfighting: Bad concept, or actually an interesting idea?

it looks like as if it was part of a question that was deleted, is is perhaps a spam seed? @Dan Getz

hmm, it's exhibiting that behaviour again, but only when I pump (約ab炮ab), and only when bookending is off. I'll see if I can replicate the behaviour with some more fuzzing?
Sep 17, 2024 00:58
ok, try with alternating ab
Sep 17, 2024 00:49
wait a second
Sep 17, 2024 00:48
yeah, ok, I must've gotten confused too, it seems to only linearly increase with the bookends
Sep 17, 2024 00:43
I really suspect that Makeyn is reading my PR back to front, and that it looks like I'm removing the lookahead, when I'm actually adding it???
Sep 17, 2024 00:42
unless the bookending code actually does my suggested improvement by default???
Sep 17, 2024 00:41
that's it in all it's glory
Sep 17, 2024 00:41
\w*(?:约炮|約炮)\w*
Sep 17, 2024 00:39
maybe someone merged my PR already?
Sep 17, 2024 00:39
@Makyen the original regex was \w*(...)\w*
Sep 17, 2024 00:37
(with ^ and $ added to simulate bookending)
Sep 17, 2024 00:36
@Makyen [a]*n and [a]*n[约炮][a]*m, regex101
Sep 17, 2024 00:14
the ^ and $ were just added for simulating bookends with the domain I was looking at, sorry I should have left them out
Sep 17, 2024 00:13
it simply makes sure there's something to find before backtracking everywhere
Sep 17, 2024 00:12
pretty sure it is equivalent, except for runtime
Sep 17, 2024 00:11
(?=\w*(?:约炮|約炮))\w*(?:约炮|約炮)\w*+
Sep 17, 2024 00:09
@Makyen what's a failing case?
Sep 16, 2024 22:26
that is, if it matches
Sep 16, 2024 22:25
(and you could use a named backref to cut runtime by 3/4 I suppose)
Sep 16, 2024 22:24
the following preserves behaviour well, without sacrificing context, and "resolves" the quadratic behaviour: ^(?=\w*(?:b|c))\w*(?:b|c)\w*+$
Sep 16, 2024 21:48
@micsthepick @Makyen I think this one is more important to attend to, unless you were already looking through MS to see what thresholds of context we need :)
Sep 16, 2024 12:33
to summarise, that's the only concerning regex (so far) @Makyen, my suggestion is 1544674518 Makyen \w{0,800}(?:约炮|約炮)\w{0,800}(?#slang for sex)
where 800 is your favourite number that gets as many TPs from MS.
Sep 16, 2024 12:28
changing the limits to 0-400 each reduces the backtracking metric to 801
Sep 16, 2024 12:26
technically the backtracking one is just tracking how many times total we pop from the stack, instead of just the max depth
