Workload depends on company and contract. Just make sure your contract protects you (get a lawyer to review it - it is worth the pay). That's why I suggest IPSE membership, @Nofel - they have your back.
Oct 20, 2017 12:01
I've found it difficult to fall on my face doing contracting. Just need to make sure you have something lined up - start looking between 2-4 weeks before end of current contract.
Oct 20, 2017 12:00
@DavidK it was on the newsletter.
Oct 20, 2017 12:00
Manchester is probably big enough to support a contracting market indefinitely (London definitely is - that's where I live).
Oct 20, 2017 11:50
One piece of advice - get yourself a membership with IPSE - "The Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed". They have a bunch of documents about contracting and once a member you get some legal and tax advice.
Oct 20, 2017 11:48
3 months is an average contract length. I've had 3 month contracts extended to 2 years.
Oct 20, 2017 11:46
Meh. I've contracted for ~8 years. And most of the perm jobs I held had no more security than the contracts.

@Avery scroll should be fixed, yes.
Sep 8, 2017 16:14
TBH - Chrome 61 changes (body.scrollTop behaviour) helped push the change faster (I was already in the middle of doing it for related reasons, but it coming out...)
Sep 8, 2017 16:13
I take my scrolling very seriously, you see.
Sep 8, 2017 16:12
@TimStone but it was.

Can really rephrase to "What can I do for developers who are not willing to learn new ways of doing things?". The problem isn't with git - it is with these people.

How do you know this happened one company premises? Or done by another employee? What country did this happen in?

Oct 25, 2016 20:40
I certainly don't. Currently listening to the next Stack Overflow podcast, as it is being recorded.

Just saying that not demonstrating leadership and showing product management work may be enough to get such an answer (which may or may not be the case here - dunno).

Ah
Jun 20, 2015 21:22
heh - I can imagine that. FT?
Jun 20, 2015 21:21
Thing is, you are talking about your masters here in chat, suggesting still being in academia - and the role would require someone who has been PMing for a while and driving change (so that's the kind of thing that would need to be on the CV/cover letter).
Jun 20, 2015 21:15
But... I am not a part of the process, so can't speak for others.

Also - the feeds are RSS based - RSS is not event based, is not push but is a pull technology. That means polling.
Jun 13, 2016 11:14
@Hakase the architecture uses batch operations on a schedule. It is more efficient for us (using a relational data store).
Jun 7, 2016 11:43
That's why I am digging into it. Trying to figure out what's going on.
Jun 7, 2016 11:10
Yeah, it looks like "featured" feeds don't work for bots? Dunno what's happening there - but looks like it has been a couple of years now.
Jun 7, 2016 11:06
So, I hopped in to see what's the deal.

Q: Why doesn't this feed for featured questions work?

JNatI've created this feed user a little more than four months ago. It is supposed to post featured questions from Anime & Manga. However, it never worked. The feed is currently empty, since we have no featured questions right now currently has two questions. However, whenever there are featured ...

Also, bugs and feature requests (across all metas) are somewhat of a firehose - there are a lot of them coming in every day.
