Pretty sure something like this should find all words if I had a reliable way to check if words existed: repl.it/@Theodorlukin/MeaslyDeliciousTelecommunications
Jul 2, 2018 20:10
Anyone know how to check if words exist on repl.it
Jul 2, 2018 19:53
I think so
Jul 2, 2018 19:53
What's the breakdown?
Jul 2, 2018 19:48
Turns out not only can I not code, I also can't count
Jul 2, 2018 19:47
Oh shit that's 9
Jul 2, 2018 19:45
There's a lot of words in the english language to check
Jul 2, 2018 19:45
Except that you're essentially checking for each word
Jul 2, 2018 19:45
I was thinking it might be more efficient to work from the bottom up, considering that you can for example only start with i or a, then only go to an, at, as, ah etc.
Jul 2, 2018 19:44
That's my kind of tradeoff
Jul 2, 2018 19:40
@DJMcMayhem Yeah, but it won't be great for actually finding them
Jul 2, 2018 19:40
@Neil Well done
Jul 2, 2018 19:39
@DJMcMayhem I'll do that real quick, won't be super efficient tho
Jul 2, 2018 19:35
Wonder how hard this would be to code up
Jul 2, 2018 19:34
Well done
Jul 2, 2018 19:34
Wow can't believe I missed that
Jul 2, 2018 19:31
satangs -> stangs -> tangs -> tang -> tan -> an -> a
Jul 2, 2018 19:29
Looks like 7 is the one to beat
Jul 2, 2018 19:28
Oh looks like it's a place. Probably invalid. It showed up on thefreedictionary.com which has a useful tool for this
Jul 2, 2018 19:26
spineda -> spined -> spine -> sine -> sin -> in -> I
Jul 2, 2018 19:15
It works if any of the operators are removed, but not either of the numbers
Jul 2, 2018 19:15
would something like this 1<==0 in python spark any ideas for anyone?
Jul 2, 2018 19:02
Otherwise something like ;0 mighta worked
Jul 2, 2018 19:02
Nope
Jul 2, 2018 19:01
space and tab both work
Jul 2, 2018 19:00
Ah. Gotcha
Jul 2, 2018 19:00
Doesn't pretty much every valid python program have length > 1?
Jul 2, 2018 18:59
Of length > 1?
Jul 2, 2018 18:58
True. Sorry I was just kinda thinking out loud
Jul 2, 2018 18:57
@Zacharý 2 answers in like an hour, on a roll
Jul 2, 2018 18:56
@CatWizard That eliminates any languages where any sort of 1-character program will crash
Jul 2, 2018 18:51
@Zacharý Sounds like a good plan
Jul 2, 2018 18:51
@EriktheOutgolfer Sorry I'm slow on my stars
Jul 2, 2018 18:50
@Zacharý I say we forbid them from answering until there's an accepted answer, then let them have at it
Jul 2, 2018 18:48
@Zacharý Think we're gonna get past 200 on this one too?
Jul 2, 2018 18:43
I'm just dumb
Jul 2, 2018 18:43
Oh so essentially you're doing sum(l) == len(l) and len(l) > 0
Jul 2, 2018 18:40
a > b > c compares the b > c first I'm pretty sure
Jul 2, 2018 18:39
It's evaluating the len(l)>0 first, no?
Jul 2, 2018 18:38
Yeah
Jul 2, 2018 18:38
I love posting my wildly sub-par answers here and just watching literally everyone destroy me
Jul 2, 2018 18:35
Oh. Guess it does
Jul 2, 2018 18:35
I don;'t think operators right associate, do they?
Jul 2, 2018 18:33
Then it would give True if there was any true
Jul 2, 2018 18:33
Yeah
Jul 2, 2018 18:30
Ooh that one's good
Jul 2, 2018 18:30
@EriktheOutgolfer Yeah ofc no idea what I was thinking
Jul 2, 2018 18:25
Probably not optimal but I can't think of a way to do it in just one check
Jul 2, 2018 18:25
@Adám Python: lambda l:all(l) and bool(l)
Jul 2, 2018 17:28
We're on 212 languages
