Do you guys think serverfault would be a good place to ask about how to best relate technology (IT infrastructure) concepts to a operations/maintenance director?... if not, any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

I think one of my most upvoted answers was about detailing how inappropriate it is to work in an environment where system admins were doing server work, WHILE DRUNK!

...was thinking the same, clear answers cause more satisfaction to the reader.

I'll give it a shot setting it up, and keep in mind the coop in case something comes up.

As I remember though (from when Andrew set it up) it was a bit complicated setting it up, but IMO better than SCOM.

@Zoredache I'm guessing you guys are still using Nagios? I was going to give it a try (SCOM is freaking bloated and I quite hate it).

Its taking me 2 hours to download Ubuntu server (still at 60%)... now I can't see chat room user icons, anybody noticing weirdness? Maybe its just me :\

Any idea why my two wireless controllers [Cisco] might have issues with VLAN 666?. I just tried setting it up, and they wouldn't take it (well, they took the config, but I wasn't able to communicated to other host interfaces on that same VLAN number).

@Zoredache No... one of the techs here used (I believe) a navy NTP server, which is down now. Our secondary was ntp1.wa-k20.net (that's where I want to be).
