sweet!... It would be nice to have human-element based questions for IT, but 'workplace' is a good start. Thank you @jscott
Aug 23, 2013 02:57
Do you guys think serverfault would be a good place to ask about how to best relate technology (IT infrastructure) concepts to a operations/maintenance director?... if not, any suggestions would be highly appreciated!
Aug 23, 2013 02:49
I think one of my most upvoted answers was about detailing how inappropriate it is to work in an environment where system admins were doing server work, WHILE DRUNK!
Aug 23, 2013 02:45
...was thinking the same, clear answers cause more satisfaction to the reader.

Hey ya'll... quick poll on KVM switches and preferences (what do you prefer?). We have a belkin OnmiView Pro3 that has caused nothing but problems. Trying to find something more reliable.

@Hennes that is interesting.
Oct 19, 2012 15:15
Good morning all!
Oct 18, 2012 21:30
@ewwhite you mean, as a distro?
Oct 18, 2012 21:29
@ewwhite u hate ubuntu?
Oct 18, 2012 21:27
I'll give it a shot setting it up, and keep in mind the coop in case something comes up.
Oct 18, 2012 21:19
As I remember though (from when Andrew set it up) it was a bit complicated setting it up, but IMO better than SCOM.
Oct 18, 2012 21:17
@Zoredache I'm guessing you guys are still using Nagios? I was going to give it a try (SCOM is freaking bloated and I quite hate it).
Oct 18, 2012 21:13
@jrg oh
Oct 18, 2012 21:13
I clicked on the download and walked away, was just surprised it was still going on.
Oct 18, 2012 21:12
@Zoredache Didn't think too much about it... is the one with only two year support that bad? I thought I'd try it out for a change, hehehe.
Oct 18, 2012 21:08
@jrg Ooooh... lucky me. No, not getting LTS though.
Oct 18, 2012 21:06
Nagios

[about soccer]
Oct 18, 2012 21:03
@MichaelHampton Sadly, that is somewhat true.
Oct 18, 2012 21:01
@MichaelHampton clean (no packet loss, high latency/jitter)... rebooting :\
Oct 18, 2012 20:59
thought so too... ran a WAN speed test, came out pretty clean though (50up/50down at least)
Oct 18, 2012 20:58
Its taking me 2 hours to download Ubuntu server (still at 60%)... now I can't see chat room user icons, anybody noticing weirdness? Maybe its just me :\
Oct 2, 2012 23:27
It wouldn't be that bad if tech support would just say something like: "Oh, and here's this happy little script that does it for you"
Oct 2, 2012 23:10
@MarkHenderson Yeah, just installed Cam Studio, seems to work great actually. @Zoredache... sorry, meant cmd or putty.
Oct 2, 2012 22:15
Howdy ya'll... what's everyone using for video capture these days? (specially to capture a terminal window, in windows).
Sep 21, 2012 15:33
Has anyone used mountvol in the past?
Sep 20, 2012 00:06
@HopelessN00b You'd need the account's password to purchase though.
Sep 19, 2012 23:56
@MarkHenderson geesh! That's a big WTF moment.
Sep 19, 2012 23:52
Any idea why my two wireless controllers [Cisco] might have issues with VLAN 666?. I just tried setting it up, and they wouldn't take it (well, they took the config, but I wasn't able to communicated to other host interfaces on that same VLAN number).
Sep 7, 2012 16:43
@Zoredache No... one of the techs here used (I believe) a navy NTP server, which is down now. Our secondary was ntp1.wa-k20.net (that's where I want to be).
Sep 7, 2012 16:16
hehehe... I think its a healthy worry. Your suggestions are great, thanks!.

Jan 15, 2013 20:21
Exchange seems fine though
Jan 15, 2013 20:19
hmm... just realized that spam could be coming from the inside too, hehehe.
Jan 15, 2013 20:19
Not spammed according to our gateway
Jan 15, 2013 20:18
We've tried restarting the mail.que and logs, but it's just being overwhelmed. Server running on a VM, so another question I had was how feasible is it to add more CPU to it.
Jan 15, 2013 20:16
at 100%
Jan 15, 2013 20:16
transport service and cpu usage.
Jan 15, 2013 20:15

Jan 15, 2013 20:15
