Feb 15 22:48
I have to go now - I may pop back later, but I've done my best to answer what you asked here. Bye for now :)
Feb 15 22:44
My personal opinion is (similar to what Transistor said) trying to go from not designing a class AB amplifier, to one as complex as what you're trying, in one go, likely requires too much to be explained - or else lots of interactive mentoring. You got some of that from periblepsis in chat, but that level of mentoring is the exception, not the rule.
Feb 15 22:41
As I linked, someone else recently asked on our meta site about whether design review questions were on-topic. Previous guidance was that broad "please review the whole thing"-type questions will probably not be well-received, and IMHO that's still true.
Feb 15 22:38
That design kindly provided by periblepsis on your previous question, is complex when you get down to the details and tuning. That guy is an exceptional (and modest) engineer. But even though he can understand its theory of operation, that doesn't mean it's easy for someone else to do so, starting from scratch.
Feb 15 22:35
Accepting that answer will indicate that you don't need further answers. It doesn't guarantee that you won't get downvotes, but it usually reduces the chance of that.
Feb 15 22:34
@AHX123 Hi - Re deleting the question - by the time you posted this, it was already too late for you to be able to do that, as the answer by Transistor was already upvoted (you can only delete either an unanswered question, or one which has been answered but none have been upvoted). || I think the least-bad approach would be for you to accept the answer by Transistor (since it was given in good faith, as an attempt to answer what they saw as the question).
Feb 15 21:19
AHX123 - OK, I'm stopping here. I hope you can understand why I don't want to get involved analysing a circuit, only to find later that it was a waste of time as the real circuit (after your changes) was different. The situation is too unclear for me, but I wish you sincere good luck with the project.
Feb 15 21:19
(continued) You've just commented that your design made edits to the circuit suggested by periblepsis - but the circuit in the question is a copy of his design, isn't it? So if you've changed the design, shouldn't you put your design in the question too? Otherwise any responses you get will relate to the circuit in the question, not your one with changes. || Or, if you want to ask about his original design, don't confuse readers by saying that you changed the design - or you'll get responses like mine asking where the changed design is.
Feb 15 21:19
AHX123 - (a) In chat, you seemed to imply that you had built the circuit (at least I didn't see the word "simulated"). Thanks for explaining it has only been simulated. (b) Please avoid asking for opinions. This site is not a forum and should not encourage discussions in questions (that's why comments on your last question were moved to chat). (c) Also see this recent meta discussion where I've pointed out that asking for a general design review may not be well-received. It really should be asking about specific points of concern. TY
Feb 15 21:19
AHX123 - Hi, There seems to be some relevant context missing from the question. In the chatroom where you were receiving advice kindly given by periblepsis, you said that you have built the circuit above, didn't you? (Albeit you report getting 7% THD, which is more than you want for the project.) || So the question cannot be the one in the title of "can the circuit be built {with} real parts" - you already know that, since you've done it. Yes? Therefore can you please update the question text & title to clarify exactly what the question is and what help you are asking for? TY
Feb 15 21:19
AHX123 - Hi, Although you mentioned you got help from someone else (a) the question didn't state the image was copied from them; (b) it didn't give any reference, to attempt to comply with the site referencing rule; (c) copying someone else's work on Stack Exchange is, unfortunately, more complicated and the CC BY-SA license imposes extra obligations on people who copy from the site, see here. || I tried to fix those issues for you this time, but please note it's your responsibility to reference copied/adapted material. TY

Feb 13 18:01
Timo - Hi, As kindly mentioned in the comment above, the site referencing rule requires you to edit the question & add a reference for the source of the copied schematic (it's needed for any copied / adapted material). Please see the tour & help center for the main site rules. TY

Feb 13 07:51
@periblepsis - And "some admin type" now swoops in and will move this discussion into chat :) Please wait a moment... (It's not that we hate discussion in comments, but that is specifically prohibited as a use of comments in the commenting policy).

Feb 6 14:28
@all - Please stop telling the OP how to solve their problem in comments (i.e. answering in comments). It's causing several (understandable) flags, since comments should not be used to write answers. Those comments (and replies to them) have been removed. Please consider writing an answer (even a short one) if you want to tell the OP how to solve their problem. TY

If you have a specific question which only a moderator can answer, then you can ping me here using @SamGibson. I hope you find the site useful. Although you are welcome as a younger person, remember that Stack Exchange is not like forums and if you fall into the trap of treating it that way, you may trigger further bans or suspensions. Have fun!
Dec 18, 2024 22:19
(c) In earlier comments, you seemed keen to ask questions. As I mentioned before, avoid having multiple active questions at the same time, especially if they are related in any way, to avoid them being downvoted or treated as duplicates.

There is also an FAQ for Stack Exchange rules & etiquette: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/7931/…

Also make sure to read the Help Center (I see that you have already read the Tour.)

@ETHANCOUSINS - Hi, You sent me an invitation to this chat, but I see you aren't here. So I'll just add a couple of point: (a) I note you now have 21 points so you can use other chatrooms too. (b) Your temporary question ban has finished, as mentioned in chat above. While you can now ask question, please make sure they are high-quality, to avoid getting another automatic question ban. Look at highly upvoted questions to see the level detail and information they contain.
Dec 17, 2024 20:48
FYI I think you'll find previous Q&A on our site about light switches (e.g. using LDRs as sensors). Some modern solar lights can use the solar panel itself as a sensor. I haven't researched their internals, but other site members here might offer advice.
Dec 17, 2024 20:45
Even without that (initially short) system-imposed rate limit, please make sure to avoid asking multiple related questions (or chats) at the same time. That can annoy site members who are active in one question or chatroom with you, but then later find that they wasted their time, due to different / new information being given in a different question or chat. See what I mean?
Dec 17, 2024 20:41
That is why I offered the unusual step of creating a chatroom and giving you access to it (since you have insufficient points to use chat without someone giving you access manually). || I note that you said you couldn't ask more questions - that is deliberate and is an automatic mechanism to slow down people who ask poorly-received questions. Please see here: electronics.stackexchange.com/help/asking-rate-limited
Dec 17, 2024 20:40
@user481408 You likely can't make your question unclosed i.e. reopened. That's the whole problem - you asked a whole project question, which does not fit the requirements of this site. If you did want to reopen it, you would need to narrow it down to a single, specific, detailed question.
Dec 17, 2024 20:28
(c) Which wires are you talking about, when you asked "What do I use to cover up these wires?"
Dec 17, 2024 20:28
@user481408 - Hi Ethan (your chat user will likely change to show your site username at some point - chat servers behave differently regarding usernames...). (a) As mentioned by Peter Bennett, please don't attempt any project using mains electricity. It wasn't clear in your question whether the Walmart LED light bulbs you mentioned, were mains or not. (b) What do you mean by "self sustaining" in the question?

@VLAZ Hi, Thanks for that :) I can see that I need to read the training lol || I expect you'll see me back at some point in the future, with some questions :) || Thanks again (and to @Spevacus for the help earlier).
Oct 1, 2024 15:51
@Spevacus Thanks - I will try again. I just wanted to do my duty and try to protect the network from that spam :) One question before I go, please: You said that I could use this command: !!/report <post link here without the surrounding symbols> - However this time it wasn't a spam link so would I need to do something different (e.g. !!/bisect CryptocyberNet @ gmail as you did)?
Oct 1, 2024 15:46
@Spevacus And thanks for the training link. I will go though it later. I did try in the past. I had some kind of problem (I can't remember what) then I got swamped with work and lost track of what had happened :(

Oct 1, 2024 15:44
@Spevacus No, that's the only one - I saw it come through a few minutes ago and I deleted it ASAP. Since the spam part isn't a properly formed link or email address, I didn't know whether anything had been noted for future recognition by me flagging & deleteing the post as soam.

@Spevacus - Hi, thanks for answering my plea :) I don't know if the phrase was detected by the Smoke Detector, but I just had a user plant this malformed (but human-recognisable) email address in a non-answer: CryptocyberNet @ gmail

Oct 1, 2024 12:01
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Thanks, I see the comment (P.S. typo - should be: mods **on** EE.SE :)
). It's good that they did visit the site recently, so hopefully they'll reply. || The reason I asked you to check that, is that we get a noticeable proportion of incoming migrations where the OP never responds & never creates an account here. So they can't upvote, can't accept, can't reply to comments etc. That leads to understandable frustration if people feel their efforts analysing / answering it here have been ignored by the OP :(
Oct 1, 2024 11:37
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Thank you! :)
Oct 1, 2024 11:08
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Hi, I would say yes, but... Given that it was asked a few days ago and the OP hasn't commented since, how do we know they still care? If it gets migrated, someone here asks a clarification comment, the OP doesn't reply & it gets closed as "needs details", then it'll bounce back to Mechanics :( So could you ask the OP in a comment if they are still interested in an answer? If they reply "yes", then do send it over to us. Sound OK to you?

Jul 28, 2024 11:46
@Hari.S - (a) In comments above, you were asked to add the schematic(s) of the designs where you are having problems. However you only added some text descriptions. Those do not replace the requirement for the schematics, which are still needed. (b) You asked for voters not to close your question too quickly. Please remember that on Stack Exchange, closing a question is not a final state, if you fix whatever problem has been explained which led to the closure - in this case, the missing schematics. However your attempt to reopen the question without adding those schematics has not succeeded.

Thanks for the reminder :)
Jun 2, 2024 17:15
@NickAlexeev Thanks Nick, I did consider that. However in this specific case, where the two site members are having a specific discussion around a topic, are not asking for external input, and have just effectively run out of space in the comments, I'm comfortable that a discrete chatroom is suitable. || I do agree that more use of our main chatroom would be good and I'll remember to encourage that when I can and where it's appropriate.
Jun 2, 2024 11:24
So overall, while seeing a list of existing chatrooms in a table with no whitespace, might be useful sometimes, actually a new chatroom is better for your purposes here anyway. || I'll leave you to it. Bye for now :)
Jun 2, 2024 11:22
OK. FYI since the chat you want with Kiwk kawa is related to a specific question, it's completely appropriate to have it in a separate chatroom anyway. When we (mods) move comments to chat (e.g. when there have been lots of comments and it has turned into a discussion), that makes a new chatroom. So you can see that there are new chatrooms made automatically quite often. Making one manually is only a little more unusual, but other site members do it themselves in similar situations to yours.
Jun 2, 2024 11:19
@FabioBarone Hi, Mods have no different ability to suggest improvements than you do :( If you want to propose improvements to chat, you can do so on the main meta.stackexchange.com - but IMHO it's unlikely that chat will receive further development time from SE developers, as it isn't core functionality. From what I see, they have higher priority tasks given to them.
Jun 2, 2024 06:11
Hi to both of you - I created this chatroom as requested by Fabio. I hope it is useful for your discussion.
