What you write is absolutely shameful and disgusting. How can you loook at your face in the mirror without getting sick? The United Nations Charter, which the Russian Federation ratified, in Art. 2 states the principles of relations between countries. No Russia cannot just declare anything.
Mar 7 17:13
@Steve I also repeat that the declaration of Sovereignty of Ukraine you are pointing to is not the final act of Independence that only come a year later. It is also self-declaration of certain aims, not a contract or international treaty that the country bound itself to other countries. It preceded the actual independence and Ukraine remained in USSR until the communist coup on the 19th of August 1991.
Mar 7 17:13
@Steve The declaration of independence of the Czechoslovak nation from 18. 10. 1914 says that the permanent army will be replaced by militia. That never happened. Should someone try to enforce it to the Czech Republic now?
Mar 7 17:13
@Steve Are you being serious?
Mar 7 17:13
@dosvarog That is just a mere declaration of independence from 1990, a lot happened even between 1990 and 1994. The Ukrainian constitution contains no such points. The actual independence was achieved in 1991 with a different act (where the previous declaration is mentioned).

@Inconspicuousseagull Once they know your trave itinerary, the location tracking is not so important anymore anyway. The issue already happens when they know when and where you visit your mistress or anyone else.
Oct 26, 2024 12:00
@Relaxed Your travels and travel patterns can be tracked and analyzed. That is a clear privacy concern.

@MadHatter I have almost never owned any credit card and I stayed in many hotels. Not much in USA, but several times even there. It has never been an issue. It was an issue with car rentals even in Europe, but never with a hotel.

Oct 4, 2024 11:27
However, I do not think that a positive test for marijuana means anything bad anywhere in EU unless you are really driving under the influence. Just being at the airport with some residues is a non-issue.
Oct 4, 2024 11:26
Drug tests do not have to involve blood samples. There are quick tests with lower accuracy (and some potential for false positives). Some police services can use them during traffic checks.

When the aircraft flies in a level flight, the stress on the wings is completely different from the stress on the wings of a standing aircraft. The lift can be anything depending on the wind, but the accelerometer shows the same number.
Jun 1, 2024 16:39
We must distinguish whether we are talking about the forces felt by the passengers or whether we are describing the acceleration of the aircraft in the 3D space. If the latter, then, indeed, we get the +1g by subtracting the gravity because the lift remains. For standing on the ground the pressure on the wheel remains. The description of what you mean could be much clearer, though. That is, of course just a technicality to get to the +1 number. The stresses on the airframe are quite different when flying and when standing. The +1g better describes what the person (or accelerometer) feels.
Jun 1, 2024 16:39
OK, let's be clear, although it is not really necessary because the accepted answer is clear as well. The g-values discussed here are accelerations felt as ficticious or non-ficticious forces and are in the downward direction. They do include the gravity. The NASA document is about a different concept, it does not apply here, and there is no reason for me or for anyone else to call NASA. ...
Jun 1, 2024 16:39
... When the subject is on the ground the some of all forces is just gravity in the downward direction and is then +1g. In the inverted flight the gravity is in the apparent upward direction and hence the sum is -1g. In a barell roll the centrifugal forces counter-act the gravity, differ at different moments of the manouver, but at the top the gravity acts apparently up -1g and the centrifugal force down +1g. Together 0g. Similarly in a parabolic flight.
Jun 1, 2024 16:39
"With an object resting on the ground, the total acceleration is 0 m/s^2, and the acceleration excluding gravity component is 9.81 m/s^2 upwards, so g-forcen = 9.81 / 9.81 = 1g." What???
Jun 1, 2024 16:39
But here we are interested in the apparent forces acting on the passengers in the non-inertial frame of the moving aircraft, Your equations relate to a different problem and are describing the acceleration of the aircraft in the inertial frame of reference bound to the earth or the uniformly moving air. mins is entirely correct, the g-values from the question do include the gravity as do the values displayed on a g-meter in the cockpit.

@tim Discussions about possible Israeli apartheid are also reported by other, less left-oriented, newspapers: jpost.com/israel-news/article-757901 Some are clearly against (but claiming that West Bank is not controlled by Israel is laughable) jpost.com/opinion/article-706440 but this discussion exists. Also the former UN chief: timesofisrael.com/…
Jan 11, 2024 16:19
@tim You can find the use of the Apartheid word also in Israeli (albeit left-oriented) sources: haaretz.com/israel-news/2023-08-10/ty-article-opinion/… haaretz.com/opinion/2021-10-11/ty-article-opinion/.premium/… Yes, you can also find the opposite opinion in that newspaper, but this one exists.

Jan 9, 2024 14:58
@JanusBahsJacquet But that is something completely different. Yes, when you get out of a plane in USA you have to throw out everything that is forbidden. Even the apple that you received on that very flight. But that does no mean you are not allowed to bring your food on the board. You are. You just have to declare what you have when arriving at the US customs (they usually ask at the immigration kiosk). But you can bring your own food for the flight or even to keep for the US trip (of allowed kind).
Jan 8, 2024 20:21
@JörgWMittag The food on European trains, even long distance one, is normally only available for purchase. That si what airlines who do not serve free food do as well. There is little difference. Yes, you often have a restaurant couch. That is all for long haul trains. Short distance trains (even 500 km) often only hove some guy going around and selling sandwidges. That is very similar to what low cost flights offer.
Jan 8, 2024 20:21
@FreeMan These restrictions are not the businness of the security screening at all. They just do not care in the slightest. The customs at the arrival do, they may even search your bags for food (at least in USA they did) but the security on departure does not care at all. They have no idea where each passanger is flying. And food IS allowed on flights. It is your own responsibility to declare that you are carrying any food. If you declare, you are usually fine even if the item is forbidden.
Jan 8, 2024 20:21
@JanusBahsJacquet "security checks that will throw away your food"??? Where? Why would they throw it away? I take my own food almost always for flights within Europe. Either pack a sandwich at home (when flying out) or buying it in a shop (when returning). Never had a problem. Food is not forbidden by any regulations. Only fluids are. And I remember a UserFriendly comics about own food on a domestic US flight already some 20 years ago. It was about how inexperienced the person, who did not bring their food, was.

@MarkJohnson The question is about that, but your last sentence isn't or at least can easily be read that way.

@Criggie Sure, done.

Nov 16, 2023 14:09
@sophit (and Tanner Sweet?) The issue here isn't whether an autogyro is a powered aircraft. Of course it is. The only question is whether, the main rotor can be considered powered (albeit indirectly) during the flight ot not. I agree with Steve Pemberton that regarding the main rotor being powered is quite a stretch.

Oct 4, 2023 05:48
@JoeBentley Who knows if the "go around" bit is the main thing. Quite likely they are training also approaches and include a low pas instead of a touch and go or a full landing. Do they surely start the climb before reaching the runway threshold?

It's just a dataset, no big deal if it is replaced. It also does not itself bear the Fischer's name. It may be harder to replace the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher%27s_exact_test which is much more important.

@U_flow I think it indeed fuel coming from the afterburner, as I have guessed, but did not know for sure. See, eg.g., metabunk.org/threads/…
Mar 17, 2023 19:41
@U_flow I think it is turbulent everywhere, but there can be a transition to an area with more intensive turbulence and with vortexes of larger dimensions. I do not know about contrail/fuel because I do not know enough about jet engines and do not know whether it is, for example, possible to get the fuel from the afterburner fuel nozzles without igniting it.
Mar 17, 2023 19:41
@U_flow Where would a laminar flow get there? At these scales?

@DanubianSailor They can and you are required to pay the VAT. Or duty, when applicable (less common).

@Peter-ReinstateMonica It i hard to avoid 14% slopes. I live in a moderately undulated terrain, elevations only between 400-600 meters above m.s.l., but when crossing river valleys, I meet traffic signs that say 18 %. And it is just a road with a bicycle route marked on its way google.com/maps/@50.04598,13.294685,3a,75y,225.61h,88.58t/…

@SQB My TRP Spyres on a gravel bike would require a weekly adjustment if I ride a lot. Perhaps even more often. When I were on bikepacking and did over 100 km everyday, a weekly adjustment would not suffice. Still the pads lasted very long. As long as the rotors, above 6000 km in the back and were still usable at 10000km in the front. Just the adjustment is very fine.

Does it mean that I can now demand Česká republika instead of Çek Cumhuriyeti from "The vast majority of people in Turkiye"? They actually often still knew only Çekoslovakya...

Jan 17, 2023 14:07
The pulse checks are way too unreliable especially by untrained rescuers. If the person does not breathe and does not react, do the chest compressions. If you know how it is done and can do it safely for you (you know the person or have a resuscitation mask) you can also do breathing from mouth to mouth but it is less important. Do NOT check for pulse. That are the official recommendations for laymen in this country.
Jan 17, 2023 14:05
"CPR should be done if and only if three conditions happen simultaneously: the person is unconscious; no breathing; no pulse; what do you mean with "in doubt" do a CPR? Sorry but if I'm unconscious because of a drop of pressure I don't want a random guy doing a CPR on me because in doubt..." <--- This is nonsense and against all recommendation I saw in the last decades. The modern instructions include no checking of the pulse whatsoever.

It is complete nonsense that Ukraine would draft any foreigner. Certainly not a tourist.A permanent resident maybe in some extremely desperate situation, but not a tourist. They have to refuse foreigners without military experience.

Oct 27, 2022 19:46
And indeed the wave forms that we normally plot in sound editors are proportional to $p-p_0$, not to $\partial p/ \partial t$. As already mentioned, doing a time derivative will effectively multiply the spectrum by the frequency. Sound is not $dp/dt$, sound is the $p(t)-p_0$ signal.
Oct 27, 2022 19:46
@candied_orange Indeed, that is the point!!! If you need numerical differentiation of the measured data to get the velocity, the instrument does not measure velocity. It is as simple as that. There is a huge conceptual difference between a pressure fluctuation $p-p_0$ and rate of change of pressure $\partial p/ \partial t$. Fast barometers can be used to measure signals in the kHz range doi.org/10.1016/j.atmosres.2021.105634 But they still measure $p$ or $p-p_0$, not $\partial p/ \partial t$.
Oct 27, 2022 19:46
@candied_orange But saying that the odometer measures speed is confusing at best.
Oct 27, 2022 19:46
@candied_orange In that case a tape measure or a laser disto also measure velocity and acceleration. That is both true, if you process the numbers using a numerical differentiation procedure, and an absurd expression at the same time .
Oct 27, 2022 19:46
Vortexes in turbulence also travel in time and space and despite of that it is more common to speak about the data from a high-frequency pressure sensor using $p'$ doi.org/10.1016/j.atmosres.2021.105634 Those sensors are, of course, more than just microphones. My understanding of microphones is quite basic, but my understanding is that the deflection of the membrane is also governed by $p'$.
Oct 27, 2022 19:46
That is very liberal implication from those words. There are other types of possible changes "from the average". Like the literal difference $p'=p-{\bar p}$ (and measuring certain parts of spectra of $p'(t)$. The time derivative is much less directly a change from the average.

@DavidMulder According to my mobile banking my ATM was Reiffeisenbank. And my Czech card is even from a small bank recently absorbed by Reiffeisenbank.
Aug 31, 2022 10:33
@DavidMulder Several different ones, all that was available. They charged differing amounts from 2 to 6€. Certainly not just Euronet.
Aug 31, 2022 10:33
@DavidMulder If it were just developing countries like Thailand... All ATM in Austria we tried had one. And not just in a hotspot like Hallstatt, we drove to Bad Goisern to buy grosseries and withdraw money for our caving expedition.

@jcaron I do not think that this (paying at the table) is a necessary feature of a full-service restaurant. Where I am from in EU, I am often invited to pay at the bar even when I sat at the table all the time, chose my meal from the menu and had it brought by the waiting staff. More often so when the guests pay separately.

Also, until recently, the Ukrainian forces deployed on the border were professional, with conscripts serving in the rear. However, even first line forces were full of conscripts which were quickly given contracts but were not told they are going into a war. Many were killed or taken prisoner as illustrated by this video youtube.com/watch?v=nfQltEn4mTY You may question whether it is staged or not but your Kremlin sources are no more trustful.
Apr 20, 2022 11:13
These are the conscripts Russia desperately mobilizes in Donbas opu.peklo.biz/p/22/03/17/1647509166-88957.png Note the WW2 equipment. Russians do also flee Russia to avoid the draft aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/16/…
Apr 20, 2022 11:13
If anyone, it is Russia who is bringing Chechen and Syrian islamists, not Ukraine. Also, if Ukrainian army were low on morale, the war would and in a few days as it did in Crimea and Donbas in 2014. That did not happen, rather, they inflicted large casulties on the Russians.
