Congratulations to retrocomputing for joining the rather large stable of useless SE sites for deciding to bicker on what IDE is instead of answering the question! Nice job.

@TomasBy is right. Too many people think Turbo Pascal was the first, I am looking for the progenitors of that.

@XanderHenderson ok, yes, fine, but I mean, say there are only 2^0.07N fractions which are not 1 and 2^0.93N -- that's really counterintuitive
chx
Jun 15, 2024 19:21
hi. erdosproblems.com/297 I have a problem with this... the number of possibly subsets/fraction sums is 2^N isn't it? if so then 2^0.91N-2^0.93N would mean "almost all" such fraction sums equals 1?

Speaking of principles, how on earth is Wikipedia acceptable on a question marked for science?
chx
May 21, 2024 14:54
@codeMonkey Just because Wikipedia links those articles how would you know the contents is actually what contained in those articles? No, this answer needs to edited to link to the actual sources.

I am sad this excellent post links to and quotes from Wikipedia. That's ... not a reliable source to say the very least. That's why I am currently not accepting this because the question was scientific consensus.

Of course I never used Revolut, have you not read my answer? What sort of fool do you think I am? And (Transfer)Wise never ever dabbled in crypto.
chx
Aug 28, 2022 23:19
Where does Revolut show that? I linked the Wise pages. Revolut , as far as I can tell, is not transparent in what it will charge, it has opaque muddy text like "We may also charge a separate markup fee for currency exchanges outside market hours".

Yeah, I thought of a taxi or a prearranged hire, not sure what's available in France but I'd presume the TGV is quite reliable.

Last question, promise: you did hand over your passport and they scanned it, right? Or did you just verbally explain what's up.

Have you been detained, given any paperwork, was your passport stamped...?

What exactly happened? Did you line up with the others who were trying to exit and presented yourself without an explanation or did you find an immigration officer and asked?

I found this PDF it's so fascinating. The Soviet Role in International Civil Aviation from 1958 -- not only does it describe details of soviet airplanes I never heard of before (cast iron toilets??) but also has incredibly well made route maps scholar.smu.edu/cgi/…

"the airline rebooks you on another routing to "B" that never takes you to "A" at all." -- this needs to emphasized. Hidden city ticketing is taking a risk where you might need to buy a very expensive last minute ticket to get where you wanted to go. Also, another small detail: while a civil case can be brought against you, it's not criminal to do this.

The consulate can arrange for money transfers, they charge 75 CAD for such a service. Obviously the receiver needs to talk to the consulate first. In a real situation this would be a safe way to do this indeed.

Stepping foot in an American airport with large amounts of cash risks civil forfeiture. They can and will seize your cash without charging you with any crimes and you will have a world of trouble getting the money back because they will charge the money with a crime (wish I was kidding) and you will have no legal standing in the procedures. Between 2000-2016 DHS have conducted 30500 such seizures at airports for a grand total of two billion dollars.

So .. accepting answers. I read codegolf.meta.stackexchange.com/q/8706/7733 and I obviously will wait for a bit but right now I feel like codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/198680/7733 especially in light of codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/198661/7733 should be the accepted one. Is there any problem if I don't accept the ... how to say ... right answer?
