@DJMcMayhem yeah
Dec 29, 2017 04:01
is there a discord?
Oct 3, 2017 11:52
thank ou
Oct 3, 2017 11:50
can someone send me a link to the discord channel for codegolf?

is One Thousand Exercises in Probability a good collection of exercises for non-measure theoyr probability?
Oct 8, 2017 10:48
hello any probability people
Sep 30, 2017 08:39
You could ignore the bounds of integration but how do you even compute that integral?
Sep 30, 2017 08:38
$E(Y) = \int_{\mathbb{R}} y f(y;\theta) dy \dots$
Sep 30, 2017 08:37
Consider a random variable $Y$ belonging to the exponential family of
the form: $f(y;\theta) = \mathrm{exp}(a(y)b(\theta) + c(\theta) + d(y))$. Derive expression for $E(Y)$.
Sep 27, 2017 14:19
ahh ok haha
Sep 27, 2017 14:17
I didn't check as to test my memory. I wish I had zoomed in on your old display picture :(
Sep 27, 2017 14:12
@LeakyNun I certainly remember having a few chats with you here or in codegolf. Trying to recall what you helped me with
Sep 27, 2017 14:08
@LeakyNun I swear you're a freshman/sophomore in pure mathematics. I met you in some programming chat and also did not see you this active in the mathematics chat. You previously had some dark coloured display picture

@ACuriousMind No problem with those since it captures big picture intuition understanding
Oct 7, 2017 11:28
Wow, thanks guys. Will note all resources down
Oct 7, 2017 11:19
Yeah, just interested in gravity for now but all the other fundamental physics would be interesting for the future
Oct 7, 2017 11:18
I have taken an introductory course but that was all about errors, resolving forces, momentum, mechanics, thermal physics, thermodynamics the basic boring stuff which I do not have a good understanding of since I took the computational route to study it
Oct 7, 2017 11:14
I want to understand gravity
Oct 7, 2017 11:14
@Blue curiosity
Oct 7, 2017 11:11
I don't have a big picture of physics yet
Oct 7, 2017 11:10
The only physics I know is resolving forces stuff
Oct 7, 2017 11:10
I don't have any understanding that
Oct 7, 2017 11:10
@JohnRennie Ok, but I believe my fundamentals are lacking. When I first studied it, I took on a computational route so my understanding lacks much intuition
Oct 7, 2017 11:08
but I'll need to brush up since I swapped concentrations to statistics later on
Oct 7, 2017 11:08
yeah
Oct 7, 2017 11:07
@JohnRennie 4th year in statistics. Relevant courses include: Real Analysis, Algebra
Oct 7, 2017 11:06
@JohnRennie General relativity interpretation of gravity
Oct 7, 2017 11:05
@JohnRennie Einstein
Oct 7, 2017 04:28
how do i go about learning how gravity works and why it is exists?
Oct 7, 2017 04:24
@JohnRennie thank you, that makes a lot of sense haha
Oct 7, 2017 04:23
AHHH
Oct 7, 2017 04:22
from what i can gather from my ear, it seems like "Little Edward Theorem" but i cant find anything about it on Google
Oct 7, 2017 04:21
do you know what theorem he is talking about?
Oct 7, 2017 04:21
16:50
Oct 7, 2017 04:20
you too

i see, thanks
Sep 27, 2017 14:24
can you pinpoint the impactful event(s) that started to make you feel that you are "getting the hang of things" and not completely lost?
Sep 27, 2017 14:19
and I don't know what I'm doing
Sep 27, 2017 14:19
I ask because when given a task, I feel like I'm lost
Sep 27, 2017 14:19
I just wanted to know how your initial days as a data scientist was and what were the greatest challenges you faced?
Sep 27, 2017 14:18
I'm in my penultimate year and never had any job/internship experiences (except a side project) whatsoever
Sep 27, 2017 14:17
oh yea, important question:
Sep 27, 2017 14:17
ahk
Sep 27, 2017 14:15
i guess that depends on role and amount of experience you have (save the boring stuff for the interns, naive ones etc)
Sep 27, 2017 14:13
do you do a lot of data cleaning or processing?
Sep 27, 2017 14:09
never heard of that algorithm, looks cool
