Jul 9, 2015 00:11

@200
Jul 8, 2015 23:47
Should I be learning Node or Mongo or both?
Jul 8, 2015 23:46
My language preference is Javascript
Jul 8, 2015 23:45
or create an entire new HTML file copying the code from the previous file and just changed the content to what the person wanted.
Jul 8, 2015 23:45
Ok let me give you a example, theres a page where the users write a letter to oprah and instead of it being sent to the DB it gets sent to the owners email and then they have to go into the .html file and update it to show.
Jul 8, 2015 23:43
in the server hierarchy
Jul 8, 2015 23:43
if it's just a file..
Jul 8, 2015 23:43
Yes I thought of that but would it accept a POST ?
Jul 8, 2015 23:42
^
Jul 8, 2015 23:41
but I have 0 DB experience..
Jul 8, 2015 23:41
I essentially just want to save the data that happens on the client to the server.
Jul 8, 2015 23:40
'm a front end developer and don't have any experience with backend development or servers besides the calls I make to an API. What solution could I use that would allow me to save the data instantly when a person comments on something etc.

As a javascript developer should I use MongoDB as my backend? or is there a simpler solution that will allow me to POST and save data?

I have a question. hopefully someone has an answer.
Apr 21, 2015 00:03

Apr 20, 2015 23:30
it uses JSON
Apr 20, 2015 23:29
Hey guys, I have a question. To tie a REST API for a Point of Sale(POS) System to a front end application requires a database?
Apr 14, 2015 16:10
Angular.js
Apr 14, 2015 16:04
anyone here familiar with JS?
Apr 14, 2015 15:15
more a question than anything because i haven't implemented it yet
Apr 14, 2015 15:08
i'm at a halt in the development and need some help
Apr 14, 2015 15:06
Whats up!
Apr 13, 2015 22:28
Hello @nhgrif !
Apr 13, 2015 18:03
Hello guys!
Apr 11, 2015 23:48
@nhgrif Should I be tying in the API sooner than later in my code or should I leave that for last? sorry if i sound like a newb but I am when it comes to API and stuff..
Apr 11, 2015 21:12
what is that for?
Apr 11, 2015 20:46
@nhgrif I was planning on doing some kind of order online so people could order and pick it up without having to call and or set the time they would like the food order to be made.
Apr 11, 2015 20:46
@nhgrif I wasn't planning on allowing the users to pay online for a meal because they don't deliver. do you think I still should?
Apr 11, 2015 19:46
but tying the API to the front end is something i've never done
Apr 11, 2015 19:45
I'm very new to developing and really have only dealt with front-end stuff this is going to be my first dive into some other layers.
Apr 11, 2015 19:43
How the system itself works I don't know although I'm looking at the documentation and they do have an API for developers.
Apr 11, 2015 19:41
Yes, they use Clover, it's a sleek new POS
Apr 11, 2015 19:40
@nhgrif

I'm creating a rich SPA(single page application) using Angular for a local deli, they have a real good following since they're a family owned business I wanted to use the power of Angular to populate the page depending on user input. I want to integrate a order food online as well which im still thinking about how I'm going to implement.
Apr 11, 2015 19:22
I'm attempting to do my first "big" project I'm hoping it goes well, i'll most likely need quite a bit of help from some more experienced programmers.
Apr 11, 2015 19:06
^
Apr 11, 2015 19:05
im sure they would incorporate profit loss
Apr 11, 2015 19:05
look online for a business one
Apr 11, 2015 19:03
oh you fancy huh?
Apr 11, 2015 19:03
code*
Apr 11, 2015 19:02
You could, what language do you could in?

Apr 20, 2015 23:42
is there a guide anyone knows of?
Apr 20, 2015 23:41
clover.com/api_docs This is the POS api_docs, im very new to front-end developing I don't even know how I would create a JSON file from some input text fields and selection options etc...
Apr 20, 2015 23:38
right?
Apr 20, 2015 23:37
Well, The POS must have some kind of database for all the orders they take a day/week/month
Apr 20, 2015 23:35
i just want the order to be sent to the POS so they have the order, price, time etc..
Apr 20, 2015 23:34
I'm creating a website for a local deli and I want there to be a way to order online
