I should have them all connected in series, right?
Oct 16, 2022 12:31
@KyranF precision is not an issue in my case. Apart from making sure all lasers are ON and OFF at the same time. That is, preferably less than 0.01ms difference in peaks.
Oct 16, 2022 12:25
@NickAlexeev unfortunately i can't find one. This is the link to AliExpress from where I ordered them.
Oct 15, 2022 09:27
In particular, they ll be operated with PWM (80Hz, 5% duty cycle).
Oct 15, 2022 09:22
I need to power 50 laser diodes (3V, 5mW each). What's the best way to do it?
Feb 28, 2020 11:38
@AnindoGhosh awesome answer.
Feb 6, 2020 15:51
Actually, what i need is graphs with rise and fall of brightness with time. So that I can make a PWM with ~10kHz.
Feb 6, 2020 15:48
What are the typical rise and fall times for 1W and 3W LEDs?
Sep 1, 2019 19:46
How hard and expensive would it be to DIY a device like this? It's basically 5 mics connected to various spots on a vehicle... and i can switch channels to find where a noise is coming from.

what about this short passage? "The RDBMS optimizes data storage efficiency (as it
was conceived at a time when storage was the most
expensive component of the system. MongoDB’s document model is optimized for how the
application accesses data (as performance, developer
time, and speed to market are now more important than
storage volumes)."

Btw, i m not insisting because I think any of you are wrong. Reason i m asking is because I'm trying to rule it out as an option based on specific arguments (which I am gathering from everyone that's been answering my questions so far)
Oct 10, 2022 18:42
@ypercubeᵀᴹ what are your thoughts on "A MongoDB White Paper - RDBMS to MongoDB Migration Guide?
Oct 10, 2022 18:30
We are going to microservices, so we are rebuilding some parts. We'd prefer to use the best tool for the job.
Oct 10, 2022 18:27
Features get implemented as requested without (many) complaints.
Oct 10, 2022 18:24
I can't have an objective measure of how well we are doing. I don't think it's quantifiable. What i do have is client satisfaction which is a simple indication we are doing ok. So, no hard numbers. Is there a way to have a better metric?
Oct 10, 2022 18:20
I can't measure it. I think we are doing pretty well. But I m wondering if it can be better as the paper claimed. I m not experienced at all, but I wonder if we would be spending less time by having fewer tables and increasing a bit data duplication (due to the not so complex relationships of our data and the not so big data). It's very like i m completely wrong.
Oct 10, 2022 17:48
They have a million reasons ($) to be biased, but I guess it should be close to the truth. Right?
Oct 10, 2022 17:47
@ErikDarling Exactly. That's what I told my colleagues today and they were laughing :P
Oct 10, 2022 17:44
To what extend is the "developer time" and "speed to market" true? Or in which cases? We are thinking about migrating our PostgreSQL to Mongo
Oct 10, 2022 17:42

I m asking about dev-speed in NoSQL because of this paper by MongoDB. They claim:
Oct 10, 2022 17:33
Does going to NoSQL improve developer performance? I mean, does it make development faster/easier?

600 million ransomware attacks in 2021. My goal is to get a very rough estimate of how dangerous it is for a company to get hit by such an attack, so any relevant data will be high appreciated.
Aug 28, 2022 06:49
@FireQuacker what a failure on my part. I googled "ransomware statistics", didn't check the text afterwards, only the graph.
Aug 27, 2022 19:00
How common are ransomware attacks vs companies? Statista says there are about 5 billion in the past 2 years. Is that accurate?
Apr 25, 2022 22:08
They share data among each other (facebook, youtbe, twitter, etc) for sock puppet detection among other things if i recall correctly. I remember in a video they mentioned sharing image hashes but don't think they went into details. Neither did they mention other types of data.
Apr 25, 2022 22:04
GIFCT is a group of big tech companies. Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Apr 25, 2022 22:03
Any idea what type of data GIFCT share besides image hashes? If they share mouse location perhaps a big adversary doesn't even need to control many CDNs.
Apr 25, 2022 21:48
(i dont know much about those things) I was wondering if NSA for example has full access to Cloudflare and other CDNs, would it only need to control entry nodes to deanon users? I mean, it wouldn't need to control any exit nodes, right?
Apr 25, 2022 21:40
Can Cloudflare be used for traffic correlation vs Tor?
Mar 15, 2022 18:29
Which password manager is the best? EFF suggests keepassxc; is it safe?
Dec 22, 2021 13:15
Would it be easy to see what type of data Google Tag Manager is gathering? I m interested in mouse-movement related data (location every 10ms for example) and keypress data (key and time pressed). How can I do it?
Nov 27, 2021 17:57
Ok. Thanks.

Assuming I have a 10 year old file on my Windows PC. Is it possible to prove that this file was truly created back then and wasn't tampered with?
Mar 15, 2020 11:07
What's the term for analysis of foreign mass media (newspapers etc)? I've heard some intelligence agencies do it.
Dec 20, 2019 10:42
@MechMK1 yes, a person with the know-how can get a lot of info even with limited info visible to him. But this change can limit the risk. Now i m not much of an infosec guy, but if i understand correctly.. IPs can be replaced by hash (+salt) plus additional info on general geographic location. Sure, the SE as a website can see the IP, user-agent and other fingerprinting data, but wouldn't that limit the personal information available to a mod only to what he truly needs to do his job?
Dec 20, 2019 06:57
Is there a word in Info Sec for: "providing the user only what he needs in order to reduce risk"?
Dec 20, 2019 06:49
@ConorMancone Yes, I meant SE. About connections like voting each other you are right, they can get it through other means. My guess is they use the IP to identify multiple accounts of the same user, when said accounts display no connections (voting) between them. Geographic info can be provided by the system.
Dec 19, 2019 22:43
I read mods can see the IP of users. Although I understand the usefulness of being able to see connections between users... wouldn't a hash of the IP be sufficient?
Oct 7, 2019 19:29
I was hoping for a different answer :P
Oct 7, 2019 19:29
lol
Oct 7, 2019 19:27
When I discuss with people my online habits on anonymity, social media, passwords etc, they think that I m paranoid, weird, or even sometimes a criminal. Is there a way to avoid that? Preferably without lying.

@StephanBranczyk he should definitely change the name. Another interesting scenario is that the wrong person gets blamed for something he didn't do because of similar names.

@IanC Here are some demos: 1 and 2 of the device. I was also wondering if a similar device can be made that detects the noise-source by finding the time it takes for sound to reach the detectors.
Sep 1, 2019 09:54
I need to detect what causes a screeching noise in an old van (probably metal to metal friction, that occurs every now and then, when road bumps torque the vehicle the "right" way).
Sep 1, 2019 09:51
Has anyone used this mic-device to detect the origin of car noises? Is it useful?

Also, I was thinking to modify it as to analyze the spectrum of a distant (say 5 meter away) surface. Would there be any obvious obstacles in doing so?
Aug 26, 2019 18:24
How accurate would a DIY spectrometer like this be? After I calibrate it with known lasers.
