There are loads of places all around the world where simply being Christian is reason enough to be jailed or killed without any sort of trial. I figured I'd point this out since we're flinging incendiary generalizations around.

"The US conservatives, when in power, are known to specifically target and harass minorities, especially LGBTQ+ minorities". The US liberals, when in power, are known to specifically target and harass minorities, especially Christians.

Maybe it's an optical illusion, but in the first pic, it looks like there's a joint line in the vertical pipe about level with the fattest part of the hand-held sprayer. If that is a joint, the minimum effort solution would be to split the joint there and install an extension in the middle. Doesn't have to be from the original mfgr - any chrome shower head extension should do. Would involve removing/reinstalling the upper arm mount, but that would be less work than redoing the whole thing.

@JasbirMalik Please take the tour. Stop asking 500 questions in the comments. Instead, now that you have several answers here (all telling you the exact same thing), please be sure to up vote those you found helpful and click the check mark next to the one that was the most helpful. If you still have questions, then ask a new question. Though, be aware that if you ask a new question that is, essentially, your most recent comment/question, it'll probably be closed as a duplicate of this one.

Huh... who knew? @Traveller.

Please remove the 2nd question as it's unrelated to the first one and contravenes the rules of this site about focusing on a single thing.\

One single mount point ~1 chandelier radius from the corner will be more than sufficient to accomplish your goal. To keep the chandelier from being damaged during hanging, let it "fall" to the bottom of the chain and very gently rest it against the wall.
May 1, 2024 15:27
There won't be any droop in the chain. The chandelier will simply hang in the corner at the bottom of the two chains. If you don't want it touching both walls, you'll need a 3rd chain pulling it away from the walls - like an upside down tripod. Why even bother hanging it from both walls? It's not going to be wired, you're just not storing it on the floor or in a closet, right?

Have you brought this up with your manager?

Since SE is changing over to i.sstatic.net for hosting images, will the photo of the week be moved there, too?

"supposedly" being the key word there. They're not. At least, not yet...
Apr 29, 2024 12:25
Now, to get the community bot busy rewriting all the existing imgur.com links to i.sstatic.net links
Apr 29, 2024 12:24
@Criggie 'twas indeed! Amazing what happens with prior planning and notifying the community what's going to happen (more than 10 minutes) in advance. Maybe SE will learn from this.
Apr 26, 2024 14:35
Thanks for noticing that detail, I was confused...
Apr 26, 2024 14:35
Yeah. I used to embed those before they blocked 'em here.
Apr 26, 2024 14:30
Yeah, I'd noticed some images starting to come through and the different hosting. I did find the meta post about it.
Apr 26, 2024 14:29
@JourneymanGeek Ahhh... didn't notice the difference.
Apr 26, 2024 14:10
Here's a question posted "49 minutes ago" that has links to imgur...
Apr 26, 2024 14:09
Happy to see that SE is moving away from imgur.com (since it's blocked at my office). I've noticed that some images are starting to appear from sstatic.com, but not all. Anyone know why it's just some? I've seen it on new posts where I cannot see the images and a hover shows an imgur link.

Hopefully, the AI take over will take more than 6 months to complete. It amazes me that nobody seems to have learned from any of the movies and books that have been written about what happens when we start relying on machines to do our thinking for us.
Mar 4, 2024 13:54
I still remember their "do no evil" promise when they did their IPO. They, obviously, don't.
Mar 4, 2024 13:54
Got started with SO almost 11 years ago. Lots of time, energy and effort now vacuumed up by Google and subjected to their very leftist views of the world. It's all "PC" everything now, and I'm done.
Mar 4, 2024 13:53
I think this is the final nail in the SE coffin for me. I may come back to DIY if I've got a question to ask, and I'll probably continue to prefer SE answers over others when reviewing search results for the next 3-12 months, but I think I'm done with it now.
Mar 4, 2024 13:51
@BMitch 'tis now closed for precisely that reason. :)
Mar 1, 2024 12:55
So much for the "AI-Generated content is banned" banner that we've been waiting for.

Q: Our partnership with Google and commitment to socially responsible AI

RosieToday, we announced an exciting new partnership with Google to bring Google's Gemini to Stack Overflow and to provide Stack Overflow content directly within Google Cloud. The story of this partnership started about 16 years ago - with you, the community that made Stack Overflow what it is: the in...

I just copy/pastad that comment onto the answer there to bring it to the staff/mod attention. Don't know if it will help or not, but it's been raised...
Feb 29, 2024 14:36
Weird... Maybe an ongoing result of the above issue, but I clicked an HNQ link to get back to Home Improvement, and got a "this site is in read only mode" banner and I wasn't logged in. I hit back on the browser, then clicked the burger menu & selected Home Improvement. Got the site up, no banner and I was logged in as expected.
Feb 27, 2024 19:53
well, maybe it's not all work's fault (though we're definitely having issues here!)
Feb 27, 2024 19:27
Not just me, our entire building. I think we've got a dead switch. WiFi works great, wired doesn't work at all.
Feb 27, 2024 18:21
Is it me or is all of SE having issues today? It seems to be very slow to load, submitting comments/answers takes a while and lots of little red "error" pop ups...
Feb 27, 2024 12:52
:)
Feb 27, 2024 12:52
awe man... I missed it!

@ratchetfreak If nothing else, it's a shopping request and OT for that.

I'm very confused.
Feb 15, 2024 15:30
I've seen this a lot over the last month or two here and I really don't know what the heck that's supposed to mean. Does it mean the house is from last (20th) century? That it's a century (or more) older? Is is a shortcut for "mid-century modern"?
Feb 15, 2024 15:29
When did "century house" become a term and what the heck does it actually mean?

Apr 23, 2024 09:06
Is this a position you accepted while everyone was in fear, working from home, or were you working here, in the office prior to the "great experiment", then really grew to like WFH and are reluctant to go back to the office? If the former, this is a change in work terms on which you might have some room to negotiate, if the latter, suck it up and go back to what you were happy doing before...

What happens when a pilot hits the ACK button after mishearing the TTS and proceeds to taxi on incorrect info? The whole point of the read back is that the pilot says what he thinks he heard and that gives ground control the opportunity to say "No, you got that wrong, here's the right info". If the pilot thinks he's got the right taxi instructions, he's going to drive off what he heard, not what's right.

Fair enough. Just wanted to get the thought into the general consciousness. Maybe a Harper, TPE, or other will stop by with a comment on that.
Feb 21, 2024 23:31
Normally, one could use EMT as the grounding conductor, but, with power coming from 2 different panels (each, presumably, with its own EGC into dirt), can that be done in this case?

Feb 10, 2024 22:57
Yikes! Not good for fire safety...
Feb 10, 2024 22:57
The only way to secure the door is by locking it, which requires a key to unlock from both the outside and inside? i.e., if you wake up to a fire in the middle of the night, one of you has to be coherent enough to find the key and unlock the door or all 3 of you burn to death? I can't imagine a locale in the US where that meets any sort of public safety code, and I'm wondering what country you're staying in that allows that to be the case. You might want to casually ask local authorities if that's legal/allowed and if not, nicely mention that to the AirBNB host...

100% with you on this. Traveling with family in 2018, we each had 3 different cards, each on different accounts (4 of us - a total of 12 different cards/accounts!) and frequently dealt with rejected transactions despite having told each and every issuer that we were traveling and which countries we'd be making transactions in. Just another reminder of exactly how artificial Artificial "Intelligence" really is.

Doesn't sound like the exiting heater is "perfectly good", and yes, in comparison to the long-term running costs of a whole-house sized electric water heater consuming 120A, a replacement is "a couple hundred". I just bought a new heater last summer, they can be had for $500 or less. Of course, there are always more expensive options.
