@John I don't have tips for Amazon, as such things are done by my publisher; I just write or update book content from time to time.
19:19
@John Hi John, some books are sold, I guess because Amazon currently has a 46% discount (TikZ book) and a 25% discount (Beginner's Guide).
yst 20:28
@DavidCarlisle You just did! And earned yourself the privilege of being the technical reviewer of the 3rd edition! Congrats! ;-)
Jul 12 12:15
@DavidCarlisle yes, soon so
Jul 12 12:07
@JosephWright Very nice! I saw your post on tex.social. ;-) TeXlive.net support pending :-D
Jul 10 20:48
@DavidCarlisle Exactly, I watch myself often adding %!TeX log and the pdf disappears and then editing again, removing %!TeX log, running, and then adding %!TeX log again possibly
Jul 10 20:44
Just not easy to guess for the learner.
Jul 10 20:43
Jul 10 20:43
Like Ulrike told a German user yesterday :-)
Jul 10 20:42
@cfr Yes, exactly. Indeed, some random command at the end would force it
Jul 10 20:41
@DavidCarlisle yes, like another output frame appearing if you click the "Show log" button below the pdf. Just anything that you thing would be good.
Jul 10 20:34
Greatr! And like the "Delete output" button, a "Hide log" or "Close log" would be good then.
Jul 10 20:30
still interested in a "show log" button :_)
Jul 10 20:29
@DavidCarlisle no problem
Jul 2 19:50
microtype improves the typography generally effortlessly, I just noticed that it looks missing
Jul 2 19:48
@Atcold Seems you don't use microtype - how about trying to add \usepackage{microtype} and compare? The right margin of the paragraph could look smoother to the eye (punctuation protrusion)
Jul 2 19:44
btw. axel might be a typo, centre is not american (center)
Jul 2 19:41
it's in general good (symbols just have varying height and width, so alignment of parentheses and arguments look like extra manual work), just the fraction position looks odd
Jul 2 19:39
left, yes, it would be a manual tweak, no automatism. Right: the fraction looks shifted to the left, compared to the v above
Jul 2 19:26
@Atcold I still don't like the playful curly arrows :-) but don't mind. In the equation, the left side might get a tweak for vertical spacing (equal spacing of rows) and the very right may look better with alignment of the fraction, and maybe alignment of the arguments, if you have a close look.
Jun 11 20:12
@Jasper It worked in this case, but I totally agree with you: it's risky to have a tikzpicture in a node (inheriting options...) and better to save it in a box.
Jun 11 20:07
@Atcold I like the alignment and indentation of your source code; I could imagine that aligning at /.style could be nice for the eye, instead of left alignment in this case, where several styles are shown
Jun 11 19:48
@Atcold I will definitely work on another edition! The whole reason why I support marketing of the book (... it's currently 40% off at Amazon with also 40% claimed of the limited time deal...) is that if the publisher can live with the sales, they approve another edition. And I could add a lot more content. Gladly send me your thoughts to [email protected]
Jun 11 19:43
@Atcold I'm happy to tell you that there's a Japanese edition now! There's a lot of TikZ friends in Japan.
Jun 11 19:42
@Atcold ok :-) btw. you could mention a TikZ book if you enjoyed the reading :-D
Jun 11 19:28
@Atcold Try how your diagrams look with a sharp -stealth arrow tip instead of the default curvy arrow tips, and smaller tick labels on axes
Jun 5 16:33
@John that's exactly what my grandma said about the first edition of this book! tex.stackexchange.com/questions/94889/…
May 3 12:11
I recommend requesting Comic Sans for an own tombstone; this removes suicidal thoughts entirely, encourages a healthy lifestyle, and leads to a long life.
May 3 12:10
@PauloCereda It's Times New Roman
May 3 11:58
Apr 12 18:14
@AlanMunn How's the kerning?
Apr 3 22:21
LearnLaTeX.org is the best platform for this because of the many supported languages.
Apr 3 22:17
Or text/code examples on a test page
Apr 3 22:11
@DavidCarlisle do you have some examples to compare them now and possibly later for considering switching?
Apr 3 21:35
@DavidCarlisle I'll gladly look at it!
Feb 27 19:42
I sent an email to [email protected], thanks @yo'!
Feb 27 19:36
@yo' curl ctan.org returns "403 Forbidden" to me, from different locations. I would expect a "301 Moved Permanently" for the redirection to https. Browsers may simply do https anyway as it was cached by the browser and users don't even notice when it, except when they never used https for it or call ctan.org for the first time.
Jan 24 21:45
@EmanueleNardi see here: underline omitting the descenders
Dec 29, 2024 16:59
@EmanueleNardi MTG is a fan of @Skillmon.
Oct 31, 2024 12:42
@JosephWright Yes, I read your answer and had nothing to add. Possibly, they will continue their job just by walking to the next site.
Aug 27, 2024 10:37
@DavidCarlisle Ok! that has time, also I never noticed an issue with pdf.js before, that run well all the time.
Aug 27, 2024 10:34
@DavidCarlisle Possibly :-)
Aug 27, 2024 10:03
Aug 27, 2024 10:01
I used Chrome btw.
Aug 27, 2024 10:01
@DavidCarlisle sounds good!
Aug 27, 2024 09:56
@DavidCarlisle Now I'm doing some Asymptote :-) pdf.js cannot render all, but %!TeX return pdf works fine
Aug 27, 2024 09:03
@DavidCarlisle That's great!
Aug 15, 2024 01:01
@LaTeXereXeTaL Thank you very much! It feels good and motivating to hear that!
Jul 23, 2024 13:56
@PauloCereda got it, thanks!
Jan 27, 2024 12:48
@DavidCarlisle fixed, thanks!
