Player stress ensues

My initial idea is that it just made you less "human" in one way or another - you just lose yourself more and more to the corruption. I dunno... I want the Corruption to be an ever-present and building threat... Give the players something else to consider.

"Bob, you see a door. No one else sees it. Just you."
"Does it look ominous?"
"No, the only thing odd about it is that only you see it."
"Well, if I interact with it, is it going to cause a corruption roll?"
"[Shrugs in DM]"

In the original Diablo campaign I was designing it for, the player with the most points at the end became Diablo, but I've adapted it a bit to accomodate for longer campaigns as well - similar to how the Dark Heresy corruption/insanity system works

So that's what the corruption system covers. When you embrace the corruption, you become more demonic. When you resist it, you start to go mad. When you embrace/resist enough - you lose your PC to the corruption.

There are 3 characters - The soldier became the vessel for Diablo's return, the mage went mad, and the Rogue turned into a demon.
Ben

Oh! I originally based this corruption system off the Lore of Diablo 1.
Ben
Oct 6, 2023 03:00
That kind of thing?
Ben
Oct 6, 2023 03:00
Ok... it'd be something like "A constant source of ethereal corruption plays on the minds and bodies of all that encounter it - resistance only leads to madness - seeing and hearing things that aren't there, or maybe that can't be seen by those with such closed minds. Embracing it leads to strength and power, but at what cost? All who encounter it, lose themselves eventually."

@goodguy5 Theme... like, the intended effect it has on the game?
Ben
Oct 4, 2023 01:19
There are also ways to reduce it, because the idea is that the corruption would build up the impact of the afflictions... minor > major > permanent. So if a player wanted to reduce the corruption before the affliction became permanent, they could
Ben

@KorvinStarmast I have had one playtest... it was a one-off so I fast tracked the collection of the corruption points a bit, but the players liked the flavour it gave to the game.
Ben
Oct 4, 2023 01:10
For example, one player might develop a demonic aura, which might help with stealth around demons, even though they're wearing full plate. Another might see things that aren't there, that give actual clues to things to investigate
Ben

The idea I had for it is that it affects how the PCs view and interact with the world around them, and how the world interacts with them.
Ben
Oct 3, 2023 23:26
My idea is that they're walking around the dungeons, running into things that cause physical or mental degradation and corruption. They can fight it off but ultimately when a Prime Evil has been wandering around the depths of a dungeon for a few hundred years, it's undoubtedly going to have a negative impact on any and all who come into contact with the environment
Ben
Oct 3, 2023 23:24
Or at least that's the intention.
Ben
Oct 3, 2023 23:24
Undoubtedly. But the Corruption system isn't dependant on the combat. Or, it shouldn't be. Ultimately what it affects is the PCs and how they interact with the world.

I was asking about Fate because it appears that my old Diablo Corruption system would actually work better in a less Combat focused system. And I was wondering if Fate might be one such system?
Ben
Oct 3, 2023 23:00
Heyo all. Shame about BESW, hope everything's ok.
Ben
Oct 3, 2023 02:35
Who else has played Fate?
Ben
Oct 3, 2023 02:34
Has the tagging system changed/broken or have I just been out of it for long enough? Lol
Ben
Oct 3, 2023 02:34
Was gonna tag @BESW but it didn't bring them up, like it normally does?

@AncientSwordRage But yeah, we're going to re-evaluate the entire situation - I've checked in with the doc every 6-12 months but now since things have changed pretty drastically we're going to redo it all and make sure we understand what and why it's happening, and how to handle it best

A bit like the A,B,C of first aid...

I'm still really thankful to my partner that pointed it out. I had no idea of it until the accident, then she pointed it all out and it all came together.

@AncientSwordRage Thankfully it's not harmful to my health at this stage. An absent seizure has no effect on the body, I just gap on it. I keep doing what I was doing, I just have no memory of the past 30 seconds

Q: Powershell script failing on "ConvertToDateTime"

BenI have the following script: $ExcludedUsers = ”Public”, ”Administrator”, ”mdtadmin” $LocalProfiles = Get-WMIObject -class Win32_UserProfile | Where { (!$_.Special) -and (!$_.Loaded) -and ($_.ConvertToDateTime($_.LastUseTime) -lt (Get-Date).AddDays(-60)) } foreach ($LocalProfile in $LocalProfiles...

Yeah, I've asked the preliminary question already, but I'm already up to revision 3, which is moving on from the original post, and I don't think asking a whole new question is really appropriate...?
Ben
Sep 19, 2023 23:29
So asking on a main site wouldn't really follow the protocols
Ben
Sep 19, 2023 23:28
I'm in a bit of a loop - each solution presents a new problem
Ben
Sep 19, 2023 23:28
Oh, no I'm not asking for software recommendations. I'm asking where to ask for help about a script I'm writing in Powershell
Ben
Sep 19, 2023 23:21
I apologise, but I don't follow
Ben

Hey all, just wondering if someone might be able to help me out with some powershell problems? I'm writing a script, but don't know much about powershell.
Ben

Currently it deletes all profiles (except the one logged in), and attempts to delete all C:\User folders, but it can't because it doesn't have authority to delete the "AppData" folder in each one.

Hey All, just need some help ironing out a powershell script I've got - I'm still new with the syntax, so I'm not sure exactly what code to use
