Here is the manual to get you started linux.die.net/man/8/e2fsck also a post I found on the topic askubuntu.com/questions/182231/…
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
OK what has happened is the file system got corrupted by ntfsfix and has protected its self so you can still boot. The only other suggestion I can think of is to use a file system repair. I am unfamiliar with this and do not know exactly what it will do, it should use the ext4 journal to repair it but I never used it before. To do this you will need to enter a Live CD because you cannot unmount / while using it. Once in the live desktop run umount /dev/sda9 then e2fsck /dev/sda9 and finally mount /dev/sda9 so you can test it or reboot back to your system.
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
I took that from this question here: unix.stackexchange.com/questions/404019/… It seems like the same issue but again I don't know about this, use at your own risk.
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
I don't think this is possible, so it might just fail, but how about running hdparm on that specific partition? sudo hdparm -r0 /dev/sda9
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
How about sudo hdparm -r0 /dev/sda (removes the write protection from the disk sda) then try mount -o remount,rw /dev/sda9 /
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
So after the first command, it says the write protection was disabled? Ignoring the second command, can you now write to the disk? Just open a text editor type something and try to save it.
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
Did you copy it exactly? The command passes on my system. What about like this mount -o remount,rw /dev/sda9 /
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
OK we can try something else. Open a terminal and run sudo su - then run mount -o remount,rw / did that give you write access?
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
If you boot from a live CD or USB and choose "Try Ubuntu", can you access the partition? It should just show up in the left hand part of the files browser.
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
So you ran ntfsfix on an Ext4 partition?
Jun 29, 2020 14:17
This is strange, formatting a partition that is not a system partition should not cause this issue. Did you ntfsfix the wrong partition?

@Zanna I tried to save the links but some are broken, so, just for efficiency, I was replacing them with apt-get install, if more users are coming in on this, then we could do a package search and replace the links with new ones. May be an issue for some of the older stuff though.
Jan 19, 2017 17:47
@TheXed :)
Jan 19, 2017 17:45
@TheXed Sorry, I don't understand your question?
Jan 19, 2017 17:39
@UbuntuUser "mount a file to a usb" Are you just looking to copy an ISO to a USB? You are on Windows and want Ubuntu on that USB? Unetbootin' did not work?
Jan 19, 2017 17:13
@cl-netbox Thats a good answer, I remember that :) but what exactly are they trying to do?
Jan 19, 2017 17:05
@UbuntuUser Sorry to butt in but I have just been reading this and I am very confused. Are you trying to make a Windows USB on Ubuntu? or a Ubuntu USB on Windows? or something else?
Jan 19, 2017 14:46
@UbuntuUser You misunderstood my point in meta, that question was closed, I was talking about downvotes, not close votes. If it is a dupe, it is a dupe, I doubt that will change. Edit, unclosed, downvoted posts and ask for review. If you undeleat your questions so I can find them easily, I will try and find one's to edit and help remove your question ban.
Jan 19, 2017 13:36
@cl-netbox IDK it updated for me just now to -5, I guess it just got delayed?
Jan 19, 2017 13:34
@cl-netbox Thanks, you too mate, keep it up ;)
Jan 19, 2017 13:31
Could people please consider revising there votes to this question: askubuntu.com/questions/873313/… OP made a solid effort to improve the post.

Hi, it was bytecommander who was looking for a mod @jokerdino
Oct 22, 2016 13:44
Looks like @jokerdino has been here, see if he gets a notification. Apart from that, I have not seen one today.
Oct 22, 2016 13:39
@ByteCommander Thanks, just needed confirmation that was not an issue :)
Oct 22, 2016 13:18
Hi all. Does anyone know if an Ubuntu ISO can still run from a 2GB USB stick? Ubuntu.com says yes but it seems small these days, anyone tried?
Oct 4, 2016 17:55
Hi all, came across this room chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/45827/… and I think it should be removed, they seem to want a room to swear and rant in, while telling other users "if you don't like it GTFO". I don't think this should be allowed, other users have already said this to them too.
Sep 30, 2016 15:17
Being in the UK, I watch a lot of American shows we just don't get here.
Sep 30, 2016 15:16
@ByteCommander This is the best (legally dubious) TV site watchtvseries.se/search/doctor%20who it has almost everything.
Sep 30, 2016 15:14
Doctor 10 was really good, 11 took his character and ran with it. 9 was good to but only has one seson.
Sep 30, 2016 15:12
You should go back and watch it from 2005 because the later story reference the early episodes alot. @ByteCommander The time of the Doctor I think
Sep 30, 2016 15:10
I think when he gets his own companion next year he will hit his stride.
Sep 30, 2016 15:08
Capaldi really grew on me by the end, I look forward to the Christmas special now, Matt Smith was unbeatable though IMO. He is funny but it is a big contrast to the 11th doctor.

Oct 7, 2016 11:10
Good luck :)
Oct 7, 2016 11:09
Seems to work fine on X86
Oct 7, 2016 11:08
That is all I can think of, this guy had the same issue on backtrack ARM marc.info/?l=openvas-discuss&m=133715029912209 this one too backtrack-linux.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44335 no one answered any of them. Open a new question, refrensing this chat and your other question asking about openvas on arm, I can't find any solid info on a ARM version :(
Oct 7, 2016 11:03
This is the official download wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi I wonder if openvas has no support for ARM?
Oct 7, 2016 11:02
What build of Ubuntu server are you using, must be related to some unsupported distribution? It works fine on my desktop. You can see it with this command ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d
Oct 7, 2016 10:51
Every where I look takes me back to the PPA, something is wrong somewhere. Can you confirm ppa:mrazavi/openvas is in etc/apt/sources.list
Oct 7, 2016 10:46
Try just sudo apt install openvas
Oct 7, 2016 10:41
It tells me greenbone does not exist too! but it is right there. I got vas to install, like this sudo apt install libopenvas8 openvas-cli openvas-managerdoes that help you?
Oct 7, 2016 10:38
Now run the commands to add the PPA in the answer again
Oct 7, 2016 10:38
Get rid of that, open sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list and comment out any opensuse lines with a # at the start, then sudo apt update
Oct 7, 2016 10:38
What is that PPA? Disable it.
Oct 7, 2016 10:38
It can't resolve your host, what is the output of sudo apt update?
Oct 7, 2016 10:38
What is the error? Does the PPA add correctly? I don't see why it would fail, the PPA is right there and supports 16.04.

@edity "If you are sensitive to swearing or rants, please leave." You have no right to declare that, as I said above "all rooms are subject to the same rules and you can't have a room just full of smut."
Oct 4, 2016 17:48
@David Cole - Grammar Police What is the point of this room? It has no description, also "IF YOU DON'T LIKE CUSSING STAY OUT" That violates the terms of service, all rooms are subject to the same rules and you can't have a room just full of smut.
