Hi, I am pretty sure that there are two text editor apps on a Mac by default. One is TextEdit. I would like to know the name of the (basic) app that does not support rich text format.
Apr 17, 2020 11:25
I'm thinking of getting a Mac mini. If I have two monitors, am in full-screen mode with two different apps, and I swipe right with four fingers, will it choose apps other than the one already displayed on the other monitor?

@MartinSleziak I joined a 'Facebook group admins' Facebook group, and got a response there. The issue was that public groups don't display the admins and moderators as easily compared to private groups, I think.

Hello there :) I can't find the list of admins and moderators in my Facebook group.

I hate Google Drive's new "shortcuts" feature, which became the default for me since about a week ago, because it means that shared files won't get synced with one's hard drive. I'm getting around it with Shift + Z, so that I continue using the original items.

It seems there's a huge (and unacceptable) lag in the API between Gmail and Google Contacts regarding labels.
Dec 11, 2019 12:34
I just created a label in Google Contacts and added 13 contacts to it. Then, when I typed the label in Gmail, only 9 contacts were added.

Also, I edited the e-mail address for two of the contacts, and their e-mail address wasn't updated when I typed the label.

Google Drive uses base 2 in its storage units, but writes them down as base 10. Why do companies constantly have to try to over-simplify storage units, the result being greater confusion than before?! 😣

I think this is a good question (about images being synced across multiple folders with Google Photos): webapps.stackexchange.com/q/124622/109353

I think I might just use APA to preview my references in JabRef, then use authoryear-ibid in LaTeX.
Jun 17, 2021 13:37
I'd like to get JabRef to show the authoryear-ibid BibTeX style in the preview. Surely this would be a common request? Do you know if the code is captured on citationstyles.org ?

It is on the baseline. It denotes a price that is set by a firm which is re-evaluating its prices.

@DavidCarlisle Yes, I'm busy reading a textbook where this appears, but I wasn't sure whether it is chi or not. Is it just the font?

Hello. How is this letter typed in LaTeX?
May 20, 2019 21:48
Onboarding new users needs to be done really well, so laying out everything is important, something to the effect of a codecademy. Helping new users know the best place to learn is important (as we know that "googling" isn't a long-term strategy). I think @DavidCarlisle 's `texdoc` tip is a good one to that effect.
I found Kopka and Daly's book quite insightful with tips and good methodologies.
May 20, 2019 21:30
Did you mean to say that all classes come with a manual, since I'm talking about the `beamer` document class? Which I would assume to be http://tug.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/beamer/doc/beameruserguide.pdf
What do you mean exactly by "`textdoc beamer`"?

I'm aware of the documentation on CTAN --- yes, I should probably read more of it.
May 20, 2019 21:21
Thanks! I had to do it outside the `enumerate` environment, even though `\setlength\labelsep` works fine inside the environment. It looks like the parameter isn't carrying over to other slides.

@DavidCarlisle I just saw your name mentioned in Kopka and Daly's book for fixing the `seminar` class file for LaTeX2e, then remembered I've seen your name on this site and checked out your profile. So, you're a celebrity!

I'm very comfortable with the `article` document class, but I'm making my first presentation today. I thought I'd use Kopka and Daly's book to get some guidance, but I think it's
May 20, 2019 20:55
Hi, where can I find the options for the enumerate environment in beamer? I took out the enumitem package because my bullets weren't appearing, but I'd still like to set the leftmargin for one of the environments.

Nov 29, 2019 10:48
I just learnt that folder paths can't be longer than 256 characters. Now I'm wondering why I have to use the "\Users\me\Documents" characters at the start of every folder. Is "\Users\me" password protected from other users on the computer? What would the disadvantages be of storing my files in folders directly under the root directory?

. count if inrange(bmi, 35.9, .) & overBM != .
0

. count if inrange(bmi, 35.9, .)
