I am yet to see a coding test that asserts in a general term the quality of a software developer. Most coding tests are asserting instead a specific skillset. A good software developer is much more than its capability of solving a specific coding problem

I do not think this is true. Companies should expect employees that are unsatisfied with their salaries to actively seek plan Bs before attempting to negotiate their contracts.

I've quit several companies in Spain, England, Ireland and Netherlands. I've never been escorted. In some places I had the company throwing a after-work party with beers and stuff. Some others gave me a farewell present that my team bought.

It is not the same to know if you are doing good as employee or as a coder. I found that developers not often share their disagreements regarding code unless you ask. They might even scream "wtf! this code is horrible!" and yet not share it. If you are concern about this specific thing I suggest you go and ask them.

Adam, you were unfortunate in your experience, but that's a very particular experience. I think you are confusing that with the general behaviour. I had the luck to share my life with different women - and the discussions were not following their menstruation.
Being civilised and educated means controlling your instincts. Otherwise your personal needs affect other people's life. And that's not right.

Is your boss even aware that you worked those hours overtime? Maybe he or she does not know. You never know, maybe they are actually nice and pay them!
