I've gained a privilege but I can't find it

I have posted the most concise message in the history of this chatroom.

But i still have 2 privilege

Whatever. Just hover over your user name on any page and follow the "privileges" link at the top of the pop up that appears.

9:25 PM
@Boob Usually when you see the message "You've gained a privilege", click on the profile button inside that red bar, it will take you to the description of your new privilege... Otherwise you can see what you can do by comparing your reputation with the tab inside the FAQ section... just saying :D

@Alenanno I knew that (not as complete as you said ) but I've gained one and the number of privileges is still 2
I didn't get you

@Alenanno Um, no need to compare manually, there are handy percentages and links and helpful help and whatnot on the /privileges page.

@Alenanno ", I didn't say it, but you are free to edit it personally! This site allows it "?

@RegDwight Yeah there are better options, I was just saying it as an additional thing :D
@Boob: you can edit my own answer
and write
and correct
In your case
you could insert that
norwegian sentence in my answer. If you wanted to, obviously

@Alenanno Yeah, it's just that we were right in the middle of discussing the better options already when you came in with your totally inferior ones. :P

9:30 PM
@RegDwight Don't disrespect the gool ol' methods lol

@Alenanno got it now

@Alenanno Thus Alenanno opened Pandora's Box.

@RegDwight What if I go to Modify -> Undo?

You can't undo the Boob Box.

Wait wait. How did it change from Pandora to Boob?

9:33 PM
Needs a surgery

@Boob so you're Norwegian?

@Alenanno Seems so

Sorry if I ask you rather than looking in Wikipedia but... Does Norwegian has cases like Latin? You know what I mean by cases, I guess

@Alenanno Sorry to make you disappointed but i don't know what you mean by cases

Uhm...
What languages do you know, for example?
if I may ask

9:43 PM
@Alenanno A bit of french, German, English (=D) and Persian and Arabic
So?

Ok, well German has cases
:D

I need a "for example"

Only 3 if I remember well, but it still has them
uhm

And stop uhming

Why?

9:44 PM
I'm a boob guy

It's my way to say "thinking"
Well, not just my way

Others will think that I am too stupid to understand you
nice way by the way

I didn't mean that obviously

=D
Sorry if i don't use Wiktionary but how old are you?

24
Go here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_grammar and go down until you read "CASES", it's the 1.2 ... :D I meant that

9:47 PM
uhming

lol
:P

ah yes, we have it in Norwegian
Like swedish

Ah ok
How many in Norwegian?

4

Good!

9:49 PM
what's your native language?

Finnish has about 15 lol :D I'm italian
By the way, what did you mean by "I'm a boob guy"? Ah be right back!

Ah ok

Ithkuil has 81 cases. A.k.a. booya, Finns.

ZOMG
How many languages do you know?

None.

9:53 PM
Norwegian has two kind: Bokmål and Nynorsk, I talked about first one by the way
@Vitaly I thought you know ELU-ian?

Strictly speaking, it's impossible to know any language. Even with 123 words in toki pona one can construct infinitely many statements using them.

Theorisian?

Haha.

You eat languages?

@Alenanno German has four, not three.

10:02 PM
Nominativ, genetiv, dativ, akkusativ
Gotta go, good night all

Genitiv. With an I.
Night.

Good night

@RegDwight yeah you're right, forgot to correct
Night @Boob
hey @AlainPannetier

Listening!

It was just a "hey" like "hello"
lol
:D

10:06 PM
Ciao allora !

10:18 PM
Looks like I'm fighting a losing battle here:

Q: Identifying people in a photo- John, Valencia, and I (or me)?

LisaWhen saying or identifying people in a photo- John, Valencia, and I (or me)?

I mean, how often do I have to link to not one, but two most excellent answers by an actual linguist and a native speaker of English before people actually read them?
I thought I would do the OP a service by not closing it outright as a dupe of the ice-cream question, since I figured that would have been rather confusing,
but it turns out I did her a disservice instead.

10:31 PM
would a question about the historical development of the unmarked form of the first-person singular pronoun in English be on-topic?
or is it for Linguistics.SE?

Which is the unmarked form?

Accusative.
Unlike in German, where it's the nominative.
@Vitaly I would say so. I mean, it's specifically about English. Which makes me think that it could actually be off-topic on Linguistics.
But I can always ping @Kosmonaut or @JSBangs.

But then again it would be most natural in comparison to тот же German, so it wouldn't be all about English
more like comparative linguistics… I dunno

Yeah well... Frankly, I have no idea how it has developed through Old, Middle and Early Modern English, so I suffer from the chicken-and-egg problem: I could only tell you with more confidence whether the question would be on-topic if I already knew the answer.
@Alenanno But back to your question: in English, you would label a photo "me and my wife" (not "I and my wife"); in French, it would be "moi et ma femme" (not "je et ma femme"); in German, it would be "ich und meine Frau" (not "mich und meine Frau"); in Russian it would be "я и моя жена" (not "меня и моя жена").
(Cue Vitaly saying something about "мы с моей женой"...)
And now for something completely different:
0
A: Using "do" to create a question

masarahNorwegians, among others, seem to ask/say things like: "do you close the door?", "do you bring keys?". This becomes harsh and impolite on a normally very kind language in use. This is not correct. I'm not sure if that is the same as you are asking..

Like question, like answer.

10:43 PM
Yeah, but the answer is yet another case of "I have no idea what the question is really about, but let me nonetheless ignore the hints and links posted in the comments")))
A shot in the dark while someone next to you is actually holding the flashlight.

@RegDwight ah ok I kind of know that rule by heart, I didn't know that "unmarked form" was referring to that
Or a shot in the dark and no light like in Doom 3 lol
brb

Unmarked kind of means just that: you just know it by heart without much thinking.
For example, as Kosmonaut mentioned just the other day, "-s" for plural is the unmarked form. It's the default. You don't have to remember anything special to get from "door" to "doors" or from "refrigerator" to "refrigerators".
But in order to get from "man" to "men" or from "ox" to "oxen" you need extra machinery. So these forms are marked.
Same with pronouns. Me, him, her are the default.
You need to have a verb around or some other special circumstances to turn them into I, he, she.
Nohat has explained that much better and in more detail in those answers of his I have linked to.

11:37 PM
Back... I see. If I remember it I'll have a more in depth look... Gotta go now, see ya tomorrow :) До завтра!
