Q: What is "bends" in "Barely even friends, then somebody bends" (Beauty and the Beast)?

dz902Does it mean "change of attitude", or does it mean "submit" or even "surrender / giving up the defense"? I could not find reference to "change of attitude" in dictionary but did find a few references online. Is this something that is not commonly said? Maybe a bit archaic?

Q: The incomplete sonnets at the beginning of Don Quixote - what does the pattern mean?

OmortisI am reading John Rutherford's translation of Don Quixote. In the prologue there are several sonnets that appear to be some sort of puzzle/guessing game as the last syllable (syllables?) are missing. For example: I am the squire called Sancho Pa---; I took French leave, and scarpered pre--- To li...

twiddlerI don’t remember much about the book’s plot except that it’s basically about a boy who goes into a store with a lot of objects and finds one that calls to him. The object gives him some sort of ability (don’t remember what exactly). At some point he encounters a girl who has a different object th...

@CowperKettle Oh nice! Yes, I like both those poets a lot too. I don't know that I'd say they were the two greatest, but they're certainly among the greatest.
