I'm playing Sid Mayers Civilization V: Gods & Kings in multiplayer mode over local network with my wife. It's all great, but I can't find a way to choose "Earth". Does anyone know how to do so, or if its even possible?

The in-game text implies that it is possible to get addicted to the various alcoholic and medical substances found in Fallout 3. I'm curious - what are the consequences of addiction and can they be counteracted?
