I am wondering as to why i don't see a caption tom y table :(
I am seeing the table in my output but not the caption?

@BAYMAX works here if set into a bare article class (a part of the \l not valid in math mode warning you ignored...). As ever, without a fully compilable minimal example, we can't help. It's not that we won't, we can't, because there is no sufficient data.

\documentclass{ws-ijbc}
\usepackage{ws-rotating} % used only when sideways tables/figures are used
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{epstopdf}
\usepackage{amsmath,amssymb}
\usepackage{multirow}
\usepackage{xcolor}
\begin{document}
\begin{table}[b]
\centering
\caption{The eigenvalues
}
\begin{tabular}{ |c|c|c|c|}
\hline
Type & $\l_{1}$ & $\l_{2}$ & $\l_{3}$\\
\hline
S1 & 0.35 &-0.71 & 0.23\\
\hline
S2 & 1.33 & -0.78 & 0.07\\
\hline
\end{tabular}
\hspace{0.5in}

\label{ei2}
\end{table}
\end{document}
the table is part of a large document but I think the above snippet can be a minimal example?

8:34 AM
my document class above is from a journal

8:52 AM
@BAYMAX the class is not in an official distribution, so I can't check, sorry. You can try on the main site (also posting how to obtain the class) or ask for the journal's support.

9:26 AM
Thank you, no problem

@JosephWright Do you have an opinion on github.com/josephwright/beamer/issues/841 ? If I understand the problem correctly, this would require redefining lists in article mode and thus making them incompatible with packages like enumitem. I'm inclined to close the issue as won't fix, that's ok with you?
@JosephWright Did you have a chance to look at github.com/josephwright/beamer/pull/843 ? Do you think that's a good idea?

@samcarter Bit busy today: probably monday before I can look

@JosephWright Nothing urgent, take your time :)

Does anyone know what’s wrong with this code
\textsf{\normalsize{Background information:}} \\ \\
The weight of an object on earth is defined as the product of its mass and the approximate gravitational field strength at earth's surface.
$$W=mg$$ \\ \textit{Variables are defined as:} \\ W=weight, N \\ m = mass, kg \\ g = gravitational acceleration, ms^{-2} \\ \\ This weight is measured in newtons and for an object with constant mass falling through a small distance we can assume that this weight stays the same throughout its journey.

Now for the induce electromotive force. Faraday stated that when there is a change in a magnet field

@Ajay I see many things in there that are definitely not right. But what's the error you got and what have you tried? The fragment above is not a MWE and not reproducible.

Nvm, I figured out the problem. Also, this is not my code.

2:59 PM
@Ajay -- Whoever created that input should be skewered with those double backslasher. See Best choice between using \\ or leaving space after each paragraph to end the paragraph for some reasons.

3:48 PM
Backlashing from double backslashes.

Why are some users so annoyingly exhausting?
3
@Ajay please note that $$ is incorrect and unsupported syntax in LaTeX.

@Skillmon -- He did say it wasn't his code. (That doesn't make it excusable.)

@barbarabeeton and I only informed that he should watch out for it, because it's "evil" syntax (no bad intention and not suggesting he doesn't know, just informing in case he indeed doesn't -- the later comment is not related to the former; or better: the former comment is not related to this user whatsoever).
(oh, I think those are typos and it should be "latter"; @barbarabeeton is "later" fine in this sentence or should I stick to "latter"?)

5:21 PM
latte is milk in Italian, so latter means "more milk"
4
Italian is so easy
/quack

@Skillmon -- In this case, either "latter" or "later" makes sense, although with different implications. "Latter" points only to the second comment. "Later", bringing in a time element, implies (to me, at least) that the previous comment is also relevant. Thus I took it as implying that Ajay is exhausting, while I suspect that Ajay is actually rather exhausted.

@barbarabeeton What I meant was that the "exhausting" comment was unrelated to Ajay, and I guess your assumption he might be exhausted is most likely accurate.
So latter and former in this case. Thanks for the explanation.

5:48 PM
@Skillmon -- "English, she are peculiar." (Don't worry. I'm susceptible to foot-in-mouth disease, and have had to atone for my sins plenty of times. And of course, @DavidCarlisle will assure you that I don't speak English.)

6:38 PM
@JosephWright or @DavidCarlisle -- Any early info on ltnews37 ?

1 hour later…
8:53 PM
@DavidCarlisle -- Thanks. email coming up.
