I thought it might be a bit unique from the perspective that OP seems to be new in the DBA domain.

The duplicate Q & A is for a long running transaction. The current Q is because they aren't backing up the TLOG.

Same results in the end, but for different reasons.

Friday - Shoulders
Saturday - Legs
Sunday - Abs/Stretching/Active rest

I try to keep it to 1 hour, except legs where I will go for 2 or so

@Zikato the rca on the post is that the transactions aren't waiting on writelog, probably because he ran his garbage pail script while the transaction was still open, so the waits wouldn't be happening yet

@ErikDarling I don't follow that. It seems to me like the RCA is right. You can cut down on transaction log activity (and WRITELOG waits) massively by using one explicit transaction vs. implicit transactions for each statement.

You have one begin tran log record and one end tran record, vs 10,000 of each.

@Zikato I agree the way he presents the evidence is total garbage. I'm just saying that the conclusion that using an explicit transaction in a situation like that will reduce WRITELOG waits is correct.

it's also sort of wrong that all five insert loops are in one transaction, rather then the begin tran/commit being around each separate one
