Previously I have posted statistics about the deprecated tags in May 2020.
deprecated-tags There are 633 questions with deprecated tags. The same list ordered by most recent activity.
There were 1000 such questions in August 2017, 845 in May 2019, 684 in May 2020.
... 40 questions with no top-level tags. There are 140 questions tagged abstract-algebra and not ra.rings-and-algebras.
... 106 with no top-level tags at all. There are 270 questions tagged geometry but not mg.metric-geometry.
Also deprecating of (convexity) was discussed on meta. It was also suggested to deprecate (continuity).
There are 324 questions where abstract-algebra was removed, 809 questions where geometry was removed, 120 questions where discrete-mathematics was removed, 228 questions where questions where topology was removed.

As I have mentioned before, it would be not difficult to prevent deprecated tags at least from being added to new questions: The existing deprecated tags should be blacklisted.
In 2018, the synonyms for deprecated tag have been created by S. Carnahan, related post on meta did not receive any response so far: What to do with the synonyms for the deprecated tags?
deprecated-tags As a side note, the size of discrete-mathematics seems manageable and perhaps a clean-up could be made in reasonable time. It is the smallest among the "big three" deprecated tags, there are less than 70 questions tagged discrete-mathematics without co.combinatorics.
deprecated-tags I have made a list on meta (10k+ link) to collect posts which are already retagged or which do not need retagging (i.e., they are tagged correctly with the master tag of the tag synonym).
