What even is this article
Is it saying that all of the languages listed there aren't "up to the mark"? (It lists C++, Java, Rust, Python, JS, Haskell, Scala, C#, TS, and Go)
And it says C++ is slower than Java
What is this person on
> There’s no type of system more powerful than Haskell.
What does this mean?
It'd be actively difficult to write C++ code that is slower than Java...
@user Maybe they think a type system is a continuous measure lol

Hmm yes
financial instructions
The description of Rust says nothing about memory safety, just "a modern alternative to nulls and a modern way of handling errors" (which is true but Rust is much better known for the borrow checker)
Oh damn, I was about to invest $90,000 in Haskell, thinking this was investment advice!
lmao "a modern alternative to nulls"?
@lyxal As we all know, learning a new programming language is a huge financial investment. Gotta pay thousands to learn Java
@forest That bit is accurate, although Rust is hardly unique in that aspect
00:25
@forest well you're lucky I pointed out the disclaimer! You might have lost heaps on Haskell!
@user It's accurate but overly simplified and highly misleading.
Misleading?
Rust manages memory in a completely different way. Saying it's a "modern alternative to nulls" would be no different from saying it's a "modern alternative to pointers". It's not nulls which make it different, but its memory management.
Pretty sure they're talking about Option
00:30
But yes, they should really have mentioned the borrow checker, that's what Rust is best known for

@user poorly written c++ is probably slower than poorly written , but yeah it’s stop pod

One very small problem with that
only lost 2 marks on the first assignment
marker's comments were "good job lyxal can't wait for A2"
suffering from success
problem is that question is worth 10 marks

I'm mildly annoyed by the latest xkcd (xkcd.com/2672). It's somewhat funny but it's more of an ad for What If? 2

@lyxal Summary of marker's comments and suggestions: "ggwp"
Major places you will improve: presumably the place(s) where you lost 2 marks
