Q: my teacher asks me for this solution to have 3 decimal places and there are no

MaaarcThis is the problem: 0,5 + 0,1*0,8 My solution 0,5 + 0,1*0,8 = 0,5+0,08 = 0,58 a friend told me that is 0,508 and idk why

Q: Could having (tag-removed) tag be useful?

Martin SleziakQuite often we have situation that discussion about a specific tag results in consensus that the tag should be removed. And the removal process means that the questions having that tag are retagged and thus bumped. In some cases, this might be quite a big number of questions. (For example, when t...

Q: What is the role of the '[tag-removed]' tag?

user1119Some questions are tagged with tag-removed. I am a bit confused about its purpose. It is needed to clearly state the role of this tag. That is the first problem. Recently, the question on Montclair university received this tag, removing all the other tags. The question might have deserved tag...

Since the user who created it is active also on MO, I would not be surprised if the intention was to have something similar to in the way it is used on that site.

@MartinSleziak I'm not so sure if this tag is required, and littleO has expressed the same sentiment; bump functions are usually not the "star of the show"
A “bump functions” tag is probably unnecessary. — littleO Oct 18, 2021 at 20:48
In any case I will clean up the grammar in the usage guidance for now...
@MartinSleziak and whatever happens to the bump function tag, im much less in favour of this one.

(...The above messages look like I'm talking to Martin but I only meant to refer to the bump-functions and finite-duration tags. Would like the input of others)

Last comment until there is others' input. From my interactions with this user (who made both of these tags) I am apparently number two in the list of Top Answerers. I have casually conversed with this user in my chat room. I might bring this up with the user if they come back... Also, the tag wiki for finite-duration currently links to sci-hub...

@CalvinKhor The tag is completely useless. It doesn't categorize anything which can't be found by search. :/

my temperament prevents me from expressing my opinion so clearly :)

@MartinSleziak Oh, jeez... it is the same user. :(

I note @Xander you have began removing . If you will contact the user then I will not think about how to "break the news" with some variant of this comment template, a link to this chat and the meta thread
....have begun.

@CalvinKhor I can't really get into whether or not I have (or will) contact(ed) the user---moderator messages are private. You are welcome to post a comment for the user if you believe that it will be productive.
I will say that I started removing the tag yesterday.

Right, i forgot about that sorry

And would like to see the tag removed, as well, but I don't have as strong a case for its removal (I don't know the theory as well).

i dont think there is much of a theory, but I have read very little on the relevant dynamical systems. The basis for the currently tagged questions is one paper, afaik
tag wiki linked to the one paper anyway.

Seems like it is not a necessary tag, then.

thats my impression, yes

A: Tag management 2022

JoakoI would like to propose the tag [bump-function] with the label: use for questions related to bump functions, which are smooth functions with compact support. They are non-analytic, and are used as mollifiers and to create smooth partitions of unity, among other uses in analysis. I have learned fr...
