@Stiv that's fair, perhaps the OP could provide their own more accessible version?

botvinnik sounds like an obvious cheater, if he was a modern player he'd be kicked off most self-respecting chess sites based on username alone

@Stiv it's not showing as rejected to me btw

yeah it's still in the queue, not sure how many votes are needed to reject an edit

2:35 AM
@Jafe I'm hoping a reviewer can improve on it

A: How do suggested edits work?

wafflesSee the related blog post for an overview with screenshots: Suggested Edits and Edit Review. Who can suggest an edit? Registered users without the edit privilege (2000 rep) can suggest edits to any post or tag wiki. Registered users who are not trusted users (>20000 rep) can suggest edits to tag...

> How do suggested edits get approved?
Two accept or reject votes are required to remove the suggested edit from the queue and either apply the edit to the post or discard it. It used to be a single vote (two on Stack Overflow), later three on SO, and then later still SO was dropped back to two to match the rest of the network.

If a user votes to Improve Edit or Reject and Edit, their review will dequeue the edit, as the Community user will make a review (see below).

@bobble thanks!

Q: A tripled riddle

Ichthys KingTake the blackest of pits that yearns for the light See the fruit that it has for distance and night Now warp the fruit's name and turn up the bass And what is the answer you pull from this chase?

@AncientSwordRage It takes more than just one vote to reject, so even with my vote it could well have still ended up being approved anyway. I just wanted to explain my reasoning to you, as the 'conflicts with the author's intent' reason seemed a bit harsh on its own! :)

9:44 AM
and its been rejected (though I felt it was a good edit)

@juicifer Okay, I'll hazard a guess: JACKAL + OPE &lit: Seeing a live Jackalope might lead to an exclamation of surprise.

interesting, i like it

1:42 PM
Well, wiktionary labels "ope" as Midwest expression, which ticks the Wisconsin and Wyoming box. It's a "mythical" beast, which explains the Wonderland hint. And it doesn't have a W. Let's see.

@MOehm I'll be pronghorned if that's not the intended solution.

Springbok! That ping came unexpected.

@MOehm that's it!

2:37 PM
@Stiv you can always choose "causes harm" to explain yourself

2:55 PM
@bobble That's true, although 'harm' again feels quite fierce for what was really just a very minor quibble with the suggested edit :) At the end of the day, I'm an excellent over-thinker!

Q: Edit reject reasons: replace "causes harm" with "other"

S.L. BarthWhen reviewing edit suggestions, I often use the custom reject reason. This allows me to give the editor some personalized guidance, so that in their next edit they can do better. For some reason, this custom reject reason is called "causes harm". I'm not sure why it is given this name, and no...

Something for you to support!

4:20 PM
@Stiv I would be ok with that

@Stiv, also, the editor doesn't see "Causes Harm" but only the reason you give. Example: puzzling.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/51411

@juicifer Phew!

CCCC: ORTHRUS
In Greek mythology, Orthrus (Greek: Ὄρθρος, Orthros) or Orthus (Greek: Ὄρθος, Orthos) was, according to the mythographer Apollodorus, a two-headed dog who guarded Geryon's cattle and was killed by Heracles. He was the offspring of the monsters Echidna and Typhon, and the brother of Cerberus, who was also a multi-headed guard dog. == Name == His name is given as either "Orthrus" (Ὄρθρος) or "Orthus" (Ὄρθος). For example, Hesiod, the oldest source, calls the hound "Orthus", while Apollodorus calls him "Orthrus". == Mythology == According to Hesiod, Orthrus was the father of the Sphinx an...

Q: Where are you, Sammy Wolfe…?

LypyrhythmAdventurer and photographer Sammy Wolfe built a solar-powered airplane to explore the North American wilderness. Unexpectedly, the engine stopped working and he was forced to land his plane in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, he was unable to repair the aircraft. “I’m in a terrible fix! I do...
