3:26 PM
so I'm thinking of dropping the .j (relative jump to address) and .J (absolute) commands because they're a pain to compile (even with fancy switch statements)
they could be replaced with .*n* where n is a digit
basically .# but jumping over multiple cells
.0 and .1 would be useless then (not that that's a real problem)

4:00 PM
@Wezl still, it would be nice if there was some equivalent to a switch statement
or maybe there is
.>~:03?=?#?v do stuff knowing it's 3
.v        .<
.>~:05?=?#?v here it's 5
.v        .<
.> otherwise
it's still inconvenient though
@user pinging you because I'm annoying

I disabled my "Block Code Golf" userscript for this?!
Leave me alone until 3:00 please

ok

Thanks
(I need to make sure I don't get distracted by golf during school hours :P)

@Wezl Pining you because I'm also annoying

sorry you can't pin because you're not RO

I wasn't pinning you, I was pining you. I henceforth define the verb "pining" to mean "pinging"
(slpt: Never accept you made a mistake, keep going with it until you destroy your life)

I'm confused about functions. Why put a space before them if it misaligns the function name?
Will multiple letters be allowed as function names? (and how could we call them if they are?)

it's a space followed by an @ so the name will be aligned to the second cell
(a two-letter function name)

Oh, that makes sense

 @ad
++

We'll need good type inference too

inferring the type of functions?

9:32 PM
The syntax for comments looks good, although Befunge's way of doing it is kinda cool

we'll allow those too

Cool

it's just a fallback that's probably unnecessary

cries inside because there's more stuff to implement
I mean, it's unlikely most people will want to write vertically :P

except those could be "doc comments" if you wanted to make a fungeoid program well documented for some reason

9:33 PM
stops crying because Wezl will take over and sort out my mess once I make it halfway understandable

you have more experience with racket than I do

@Wezl whlplash is almost starting to look like a practical language :P
@Wezl ???
This is literally my first time doing lisp
tbf I am a genius and can immediately master any skill

believes you

I could probably write whlplash in whlplash without knowing the specification

we still need to get arrays sorted out

9:35 PM
@Wezl I'd star this but I can't find the star icon because of frickin' Dark Reader :P
@Wezl I was thinking heterogenous lists/k-tuples instead
Actually, both are necessary

k-tuples?

Whatever they're called, I saw that term in an sml tutorial :P
Product types

ok

And the stack would itself be such a heterogenous linked list, to make the compiler a bit easier to implement
gtg now I'm hungry again
'll try to work on the compiler more tomorrow

@user oh so linked lists? (go ahead and eat your food)
(or whatever it is you're eating)
(or perhaps you satisfy you hunger in different ways)

2 hours later…
11:54 PM
Yeah
@Wezl (thanks for understanding btw)
