Q: A treasure hunt at your local fair!

kristinalustig(Note that due to the nature of this puzzle, it's inaccessible to folks who are using screen readers. Sorry about that!) You're at a local fair with your friend Kayleigh in the good old US of A, and you see a sign over a small, shabby-looking tent. "TREASURE HUNT!" it says, in big hand-painted l...

Q: God, I'm so bad with names

SpandanYou know that guy who's got a wide, oval nose and huge buckteeth? The guy who's always wearing sunglasses, you know the one. What's his name again?

4:21 AM
@Randal'Thor not the answer, i'm afraid

4:38 AM
Whaddaya think of an anagram indicator as a no-op in a cryptic clue? After all, a word is an anagram of itself.

Q: You used to wear me, you might still do

risky mysteries You used to wear me, you might still do. If I never existed, there won't be you. Who am I?

@msh210 ew

5:15 AM
@Deusovi lol. Okay, so "rightward" / "downward" / synonym thereof as a no-op — good, per previous discussion. Anagrind as a no-op — no good. How about initial / final extraction on a one-letter word as a no-op? (Either on its own "Approximately at the end, a cycle" _A ROUND or in a phrase "Initially, a bar / bistro and a Swedish band" A_ B_ B_ A_.)

I'm not saying an anagrind there is syntactically invalid, but it will not make you any friends.

@Deusovi fair enough

as for initial/final on one-letter words, I don't mind it in a group of words but I wouldn't use it by itself

@Deusovi That's what I was thinking also.
Unless of course the surface is really great with it :-D
May I ask what time zone you're in, @Deusovi? Just out of curiosity.
Or, equivalently, what time it is now for you.

I'm in UTC-5 at the moment - it's currently around 1:20 AM my time.
(actually, not sure if the first part of that is quite right because of DST, but the second part is)

5:19 AM
@Sphinx And now I have Corey Hart in my head.
Got it.
So, east of the US, or the equivalent in Canada or South America. (It's 8:20am here btw.)

yeah, eastern US

Q: I want to ask a question with a finite but a large number of possible answers. Can I accept the most up-voted answer?

chasly - reinstate MonicaMy word puzzle has a finite number of unique words that can be combined to make a sentence. Because there is no repetition, the answer must be finite (no buffaloes). Ingenuity is required to maximise the length of such a sentence. I can make rules about what constitutes a proper sentence but I'd ...
